Tesco misprice policy discussion area II

Am hooked here and in and out of 3 tescos in the area all the time getting my R and Rs. Can someone tell me if Tesco have the right to ban me? Customer services now hate the sight of me. Looked for dysons, sat nav, cameras and tvs and no luck so had to be content with £7 worth of
Castelli Parmigiano cheese
scanning at £15.99/kg and SEL at about half that. Desperate for some more goodies, the big ones!!!!0 -
I am doing the rounds with 3 tescos. CS know me. Have they the right to ban me???? Still haven't laid my hands on a real prize. Have so far had to be content with cds, mackerel, cheese, steak and chicken. Now running dry as all SEL labels now taken away.

Hi dragonfly02
The Dyson had 2 shelf labels both saying £179, but at the checkout it went through at £249, therefore Tesco were overcharging me by £70 on their advertised price.
They would have much prefered to give me the £70 back ( offer declined by myself and r&r suggested. )
The Dyson is blue and purple as opposed to the original. The store had 2 in stock but I thought getting both was greedy.
It doesn't seem to be on the website although I'm sure it was the other day as I checked the price.
I'm a relative newbie to this mse-ing but in the last 3 weeks I reckon I've saved £750+ mainly through r&r and changing ultility companies, I love reading the forum, although I hate the sniping that seems to be creeping in. Anything we, the general public can do to give us a level playing field against the 'big boys' is fine by me.
What I don't understand is why Tesco, who are obviously aware of this site, take no notice. I've seen the same items overpriced for days after reading about them on here. The cycnic in me thinks that maybe they make so much money overcharging that giving away the odd cd pays for itself.
I hope this helps you dragonfly02, give it a try0 -
Tesco stores are private property so yes, they can prevent you from entering them and I'm pretty sure they don't even have to give a reason.
If they feel you are abusing the policy then they may use that as a reason, and they would be within their rights. Others have been banned as has been noted earlier in these threads.
If you overdo it, then yes I guess you do run a very strong risk of that happening0 -
Reading in Berkshire,Charlie and the chocolate factory dvd. SEL 12.97 , mispriced at 14.97. I would have preferred a dyson
but still pleased with this freebie as i spend enough there.Straight forward r&r at customer services and they didnt go and check, let alone change the SEL.

Dont use your club card when purchasing R and Rs as they can trace your details. I even try not to use a credit card. CASH IS A MUST in these cases. Last time I was at CS doing the RR she tried to persuade me to take out Clubcard.
Anyone been banned yet? Just wondered how Tescos go about it if they cant identify you other than looks.0 -

So what if they can trace your details? You are a legitimate customer who has been overcharged. If they traced my details they would see that I live at 99 XXX street, in YYY town. I like buying CDs and watching DVDs. I also eat cheese and chicken. If they can really use that information then good on them.0 -
Is there a list of which Tescos have scanners? I am in St Albans0

I'm not so sure - I think it may be wise not to use a clubcard and try to pay cash. What I'm not sure about is what exact information they pick up on you when using clubcard and/or debit card - ie they can see that you've spent a load in the store but can they also see that you have had a load of refunds shortly after?
Although I note they never ask for your clubcard when giving you a refund.
I'm having this fear of getting some letter or something saying that I seem to get a lot of refunds? Any one put my mind at rest as to what they can see when you use your clubcard and debit / credit cards?0 -

When I pay using a clubcard, the barcode on the bottom of each receipt printed has the same number 4217......
However when I pay with cash without cublcard I don't get this.
I presume the number is my Tesco customer number. From that they can probably easily access a list of all items I've [ever] purchased, and I imagine it's only a tap or two to see what refunds I've had and under what conditions.
If paying by Credit/debit card but no club card I suspect the details aren't instantly available to the CS on screen. But I imagine they can search for items purchased on a particular card, and then trace that back to your clubcard number if you've ever purchased things with same card and give a clubcard. Big brother IS watching you.
All immaterial if CS is friendly and apologetic each R&R occasion. However if you get their back up, or they recognise you visually as a repeat "offender" they can easily trace your history (unless you pay cash with no clubcard).
