billy_bulldog wrote:As a newbie moneysaver, and a recent convert to Tesco, how exactly does one find out which items are mispriced before you actually make the purchase? This assumes that I am in the store at the time and not logged on here!
What people do is either look on here to see what is mispriced in other stores or look in Tesco for items with diffent prices on them to the price on the shelf/poster and then take them to a self scan machine to see which price they will go through the till at.
If you don't have a self scan machine you can always say 'oh i've changed my mind about that' at the till if it goes through at the lower price and they will take the item off or you can just return it later to customer services for a refund.
hope this helps0 -

Last month I was overcharge by 75p each on 2 jars of nescafe, if just 10 jars were sold in each store on that day Tesco would have made £15000 in overcharges on One Product - and I would bet they sell a lot more than 10 jars a day each. I don't think my £11.50 r&r on 2 jars would have upset them much - they didn't remove the SEL and I can only presume this is because they make much more than they loose on these overcharges. I think the ones to feel sorry for are the other 20,000 customers who all got overcharged and didn't notice - not Tesco
Absolutley right, you bought the products in good faith and were overcharged, the store policy is there to compensate you for that mistake. What is wrong is people deliberately going to seek out items that they don't need, and then post on here, it's going on ebay ! That is not a mistake when people search for price !!!! ups, that is deliberately trying to defraud the company of the goods.
At the end of the day, it costs us all more, bit like Inflated or False Insurance claims / benefit Fraud etc. We all pay.0 -
Tesco is the one guilty of fraud, by not altering Shelf Edge Labels or the till software nationwide as soon as a pricing error is highlighted. In the case of this coffee, gaining probably thousands of pounds from customers illegally.0

I'm not sure what your agree with in my post? - I was pointing out that Tesco make a huge amount of money from these over charges and a lot of the time they are not at all quick to rectify the situation - quite frankly I think they make a lot of money from them! As in my previous post I bought 2 jars of coffee instead of one thinking I was getting a good deal - I'm sure a lot of people did the same and then didn't check their bill and where therefore defrauded by Tesco!0 -
Would quite like to try mackeral, and already spotted it overpriced in store but didn't buy as I want to do something nice with it, but what do you do with it that's imaginative? Guy on fish counter had no ideas. Do any of you?!
And also, have any of you been checking the Tesco TV ads against prices in store? I'm curious whether this would qualify under R + R...not tried it or looked, but it has intriguied me where HO would stand on this.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

I have just returned from the crooks foot tesco in Ashford. I bought 4 whole legs of lamb that was mis priced, the price per kilo was higher on the product than that on the sel. I went to obtain my refund from the customer service. But what happened next I would never of expected. The Woman went off to check the price on the product and was gone for at least 10 minutes, when she returned the only ticket she had was for the correct price and the incorrect ticket had gone missing. I think that they deliberatly changed the ticket can anyone oferr any advice as to any action I can take. I asked for a full refund on the joints of meat which they did. Also I rang the manager and he is investigating the incident and he will let me know the outcome.0

My tescos done this to me with some stella, when I went to see for myself the SEL had gone, No advice I can give you accept that I now follow them to show them the price.0

someone else on here said a couple of days ago that they always go with the person and show them the sel, to avoid exactly such a problem.0

Can someone tell me how you can ensure that you are going to be charged incorrectly with the larger items eg. TVs? Do you scan these yourselves beforehand, and if so, does this not look a bit suspicious?
Thanks for any help you can give me.0
