I have just returned from the crooks foot tesco in Ashford. I bought 4 whole legs of lamb that was mis priced, the price per kilo was higher on the product than that on the sel. I went to obtain my refund from the customer service. But what happened next I would never of expected. The Woman went off to check the price on the product and was gone for at least 10 minutes, when she returned the only ticket she had was for the correct price and the incorrect ticket had gone missing. I think that they deliberatly changed the ticket can anyone oferr any advice as to any action I can take. I asked for a full refund on the joints of meat which they did. Also I rang the manager and he is investigating the incident and he will let me know the outcome.

I always after purchasing something if I suspect it's been mispriced, return to the store to check the SEL again (sometimes I mis-remember prices), at the same time I take a picture of the SEL with my mobile phone camera before visiting the CS desk. If it gets changed between checking the SEL, and the CS checking the SEL, I've still got a record of it to escalate the issue with!

To date I've been lucky and not had to use this.

As to your particular issue, it is *possible* you made a mistake and read the wrong SEL, or someone updated the ticket between selecting and visiting the CS. I suspect that you wouldn't have purchased 4 whole legs of lamb unless you were hoping to get them for free, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Personally I try not to abuse Tesco's policy too much (for fear of getting banned) and will always pay the SEL price if it's not a misprice (rather than demand a refund)!

  • As I have been reading the mis-prices thread I often see that people state a poster elswhere in the store shows a lower price, however, they also quote that it is an offer price and the expiry date is often a date that has passed. Are you therefore still entitled to the offer price as the poster is still displayed?

    For example:

There is no mention of the SEL, or is the whole thing of spotting offer posters that have expired just a good guide that the SEL will be wrong?

Please help the whole 'spotted poster with price £x Expired yesterday thing is throwing me a bit.

Yes it does. Got R&R in one a couple of days ago. There is usually a small version of the policy on display at the tills :)

Popped into Tesco to pick up a loaf, came away with a free Dyson 07 Allergy - worth £249, with 2 shelf labels saying £179.

Ironically I didn't notice until I got to the car I'd been overcharged for the bread too! Finest multigrain loaf, shelf 85p, price 89p.

    Back to CS, no problem.

    A very pleasant shopping trip!

i've never used the tesco r&r before, infact i'm guilty of never checking my receipt.
Could you explain more about this dyson georgiac as i've found a dc07 origin on the tesco website which has a price of £169.99 and there is no indication that it has been reduced at all.
I realise i may be looking at the wrong hoover but i cannot find dc07 "allergy" on tesco online
Sorry to seem stupid but i dont understand how it's worth £249 with a price tag of £179

Also could someone please tell me what SEL is

    Thanx in advance

  • OK I made my first kill yesterday for digital camera and got R+R. I have now decided that I didn't want the damn thing in the first place. So can I return the item with a valid receipt to another store and make an instant 100% cash profit? Any suggestions?

try typing "obtaining pecuniary advantage by deception" into google to see what the penalties are for what you are contemplating doing. That is verging on fraud.

Ok you got a FREE camera you got a refund so if you still don't want it sell the thing on ebay and whatever money you get it's a bonus.
