Total rubbish, a price on the shelf is merely an "invitation to treat" in legal terms, and does not constitute any form of legally binding contract. Tesco have no obligation to sell anything to anyone for any price.
The only way they could get into trouble would be with Trading Standards for false advertising if they were displaying a lower price.0 -

But if they were displaying 2 prices, then one WOULD be a 'lower price', you seem to have negated your own agrument by your second statement.0 -
on another point, all you guys that get your R&R on cd's and DVD's... what are the posters like? my local store has the chart lists with £8.97 or £9.97 on them but they all say 'from £8.97' or 'from £9.97', are some posters different?0

It's not total rubbish and you assume the poster is talking about Law of Contract here. The Consumer Protection Act protects consumers against misleading price indications. In other words, if a store has two price indications for one product, it is illegal for said store to charge the higher price. The store has two choices in this instance: sell at the lower price, or remove the item from sale. Why do you think Tesco has this policy? Every time they contravene the Consumer Protection Act, they can be fined up to £2000.
As far as arguing it, you just have to state that you have been overcharged, as you have not been charged the lower indicated price. CS should check that what you say is true, then offer you a full refund and allow you to retain the item. If they get funny, ask to speak to a manager, explaining that The Consumer Protection Act states very clearly that when two prices are shown, the item can only be sold at the lower price. As you've been charged the higher price, you have been overcharged and Tesco's own "If Things Don't Add Up" policy applies. This is displayed behind the CS desk in every Tesco. It clearly states that if you have been overcharged, you get a full refund and the item for free.In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

Ive just been in my local extra, there is a dvd&flat screen pc moniter screen both with big A4 sized posters on displaying the price. Both these posters have got 26/12/05 expiry dates on them, however i couldnt scan them because the barcode is too big.Im not sure if this means the products mentioned above will be "missprices",i didnt want to chance it & go through the hassle of taking the goods back.Out of interest does a out of date poster(SEL)normally indicate a OC is likely.0

has anyone seen any misprices on the whiskey and drinks section today after the promotion ended yesterday?0

seems to be straightforward buying mispriced cds but when there is only one price shown on the drinks one has not a clue if one should go ahead and buy. Maybe I'm being thick. Can someone tell me how to operate this system in the drinks section?0
