    The answer is yes.
If they insisted that the offer finished already and that lower price was in the past (because on the label they mentioned the date it ended), what point I should stand on to argue ?

    Thanks.
  • Hi all,

As a newbie can i ask how you check what these items scan at before you go to the till?
i see people talking of mis priced TV's so how do i know if i am on to a winner? Is it a case of taking it to the till to see? If there is no mis price do i just say i have changed my mind and not go through with the purchase?

    Many thanks
TESCO R&R was so much fun!.. Over a grand made!

I would have thought that because the offer expired on xxx date it would negate the overprice? After all, if it clearly states that the offer has expired, then surely as a consumer we cannot expect to get it at the offer price.

If this is the case, then surely we want our cake and eat it. I'm no fan of Mr T, and I've had a few R&Rs from him, but I also think that one has to play the game fairly.

Where any price is indicated, that is the price that should be charged and where 2 prices are indicated, the lower should be charged. Offer expiry dates notwithstanding - it is not the customer's job to go round checking details on price tickets - if an offer has expired then Tesco should remove the price and stop misleading the customers. Customers don't get paid to check these things - that's Tesco's job.

They're the ones that have used a falsely low price to lure customers into buying something, then charged them a higher price - and remember lots of customers don't check their receipts. That's not just having cake and eating it, it's actually a trading offence.

Watch out for all those christmas offers ending on the 3rd January - especially the beers, wines and spirits section. ;)

My thoughts exactly - have even taken a few swift notes of Whisky prices just in case! Is the last day of the offer the 3rd i.e. it will be the 4th that they become misprices if they don't update their SELs and raise the prices of the goods?

Yes 00.01 on the 4th they will become misprices, you 're best bet is a 24hr store as more SEL's are changed in the morning.

:money: yes you can. as i did so today on something which was on the shelf £119 sel expired on 25/12/05 was charged 139. said i been overcharged, so i got a full refund and told to keep the goods. no hassel, no managers were asked about it . but cs removed the sel of the products. mind u my heart was beating at the till so fast i thought i will have a heart atack when the item came up at the till showing £139.97. :snow_laug :snow_grin :xmassmile

Yes but what is the right policy, as they might say sorry offer expired and no longer valid. Just incase they throw this on me.

the law staes that the lowest price shown on the shelf must be the price u pay.
tesco got done in wales for failing to do this and was fined about 1 month ago. this was in the national papers and tv. so legal terms they havent a leg to stand on. all stores must obey this law. a friend of mine got a phone in woolworths at the lowest price 2 weeks ago even thought the leaflet was 1 month out of date at the tills.

So, if they say something like herbal said "Sorry, offer ended as stated on the label", how can we argue ?
