I agree with this statement. Certain staff should remember who pays the wages, however, with regards to taking it out on customers, attitudes are often reflective.

I wouldn't say that staff attitudes towards customers are often reflective of customers' attitudes towards staff (assuming that's what you meant). I spend quite a bit of time in various Tesco stores for my work. I don't work for Tesco, but I do often find myself working in Tesco. I was in a store the week before last and the staff were great. I was in another one last Sunday and some of the staff were terrible. One example was on the deli counter. I asked for something, but the assistant was too busy chatting to her colleague to listen properly to what I had said. She proceeded to give me the wrong product. She did not know I was working in the store. To her, I was a regular customer.

That's the very poster I'm on about! Had you bought it, it would have counted as an overcharge, as it's down to Tesco to take the poster down when the offers change. Customers aren't expected to read the small print (no matter how much CS try to argue it).

I did not even ask for a full refund. I just said I'd been overcharged.

HO view is this is not a mis price and will not overrule the manager. You only get these if your lucky.

It doesn't matter how HO view it. When two prices are displayed for the same product, the lower price must be charged. If you're charged the higher price, it goes against The Consumer Protection Act (misleading price indications). TS view it as breaking the law.

What a fine display of staff management skills and customer relations skills you have described in your recent posts ? Have you ever thought of writing a book on management, perhaps it could be a follow-on to famous books by the likes of Handy et al, on how to manage staff and customers.

A title suggestion 'IF THEY DON'T LIKE IT OUR WAY !! THEN GET THE ***K DOWN TO ASDA' perhaps the title is a little long winded, but I am sure with your skills in management then you'll soon be able to knock it down a bit. Although I'd advise not to sell it in the stores as it is bound to be given out R&R as they don't seem to be able to get it right !! DO THEY !!
Drat and Double Drat, curse that Mr T excuse for not giving me a refund.

EVERY LITTLE EXCUSE HELPS in trying to get out of the R&R policy when the law has been broken, especially on high value items. :D

  • can someone pls tell me what the current policy on overcharges is at the moment?

my sisters boyfriend bought 9 dvd's that were marked at 3 for £19, however they seem to have been charged £6.44 per dvd, which comes to £19.32 for the 3

when queried, he was told by the CS desk that the policy had changed and they could only refund the difference, not the whole amount

    anyone know whats going on??

The policy has not changed. CS is talking out of its !!!!!! again. Go back and argue it - there's a big sign on the wall behind the CS desk that states what the policy is. If they still refuse, ask to see a manager. If that doesn't work, ask them to ring HO there and then from the store.

  • I might pop into Tesco today after reading all your comments about the CD's. I just wanted to check - do I actually go to the scanning machine to check the price before I go to checkout. Because if the poster of a CD is priced at £7.47 how would I know whether I will be getting charged the £7.47 or another price. Please help. Julie
