AGAIN, why are you reading this if it upsets you so much?

The point has been made repeatedly, but not everyone agrees with you, so leave it alone and stop trolling. I'm sure Tesco prefer to give away free products rather than get a £1000 Trading Standards fine every time, they're happy to trade on that policy, and can afford to do so, so we're happy to hold them to it. It's not our job to check prices for Tesco, so everytime we save them from overcharging someone (and a potential fine), we get a reward. Everyone's a winner.
  • I'm not the one who seems to be upset. You've being rather defensive, dont you think? Whats wrong, why do you not want me on this thread so badly, am I hurting your morals?

Surely thats illegal the price you agree to is the price at the checkout and when you confirm you are confirming the price agreed, i think trading standards would be intrested.

Indeed, Tescos T&Cs appear to be the very type of IMHO sharp practice that the latest guidance from the OFT cautions retailers against:

    http://www.oft.gov.uk/NR/rdonlyres/F0F8ED8F-CEF0-4C06-A500-F7C915DEEBD7/0/oft672.pdf

Effectively you are buying something under the Distance Selling Regulations, and Tesco can almost decide with impunity what price you pay and what products they supply, the contract being formed at dispatch without even notifying you of any variance.

Imagine if it was something other than groceries. You order a new Sony TV from an online retailer for £299, and they send you a £499 Toshiba TV with a different screen size without informing you. You are then obliged to either accept it, or return it under the DSR (but forgoing the delivery charge in the process).

I've emailed the OFT asking if their guidance applies to supermarkets?

    Rufus.

This is the first time i have posted on this site, and its only due to the "attack" on spa2k that i have now. After watching for 6 months i have come to realise there are two types of people on this site.
    1. Those who firmly believe that the misprices should be pointed out to TESCOS.
    2. Those who just want to make as much money as possible but try to justify their actions as being a "help" to other consumers.
Members of staff who write for this forum put themselves at great risk , most contracts now state that contacting "the media" (public forums such as this are such), may be open to disciplinery action. Please remember the good advice and diverse opinions you have been given.
To understand the problems of tescos staff look at their website "very little helps .com, then perhaps you will understand the frustrations of the "TESCOS TEAM".
The thing that gets me the most(tried to find website but couldnt by the way) is the way people are treated often by staff (as i did when i was overcharged (first and last time i did something about it & went to get my r & r & only £3!!!))when even getting r & r for even a single product.
I worked in a top retail store for years & was always very polite to customers even for refunds. there is absoloutly no need for rudeness when people try to get r & r .It is the shop they work fors policy & tesco head office will not stand by them if it is the customer is justified(otherwise they can be fined £1000 per product).
So why attack customers ?(i also know that not all staff are like this but read this forum as a hell of a lot do & some even have been escorted from the shop!!)
no attack at you whatsoever as some people get a bit nasty on some threads but this is my view as someone who can see it from a retailers point of view & if staff dont like working for tescos with long hours etc like i did , why not look for work elsewhere

Read the posts .Didnt sound that terrible, sounds like a lot of stores as i said i worked in high street store for years & was sent to london to work as supervisor too & worked as a nurse in hospital & homes for years & came accross problems always like management cutting back & not chipping in with help & not supporting staff but i was ALWAYS always polite & made an effort to be happy. So miserable cs staff take note stop being mean to R & R customers..its not coming out of your pockets! smile & be nice & they might be nice back, thats what i found.

I think the point the OP of that site was trying to make was that staff morale in these stores is very low. I don't think they should take it out on customers, though. To slightly alter Spa2K's mantra: if they don't like it, they don't have to work there. ;)

I agree with this statement. Certain staff should remember who pays the wages, however, with regards to taking it out on customers, attitudes are often reflective.

Surely taking advantage or R+Rs is equivalent to not shopping at Tescos, both actions say to Tesco - if you do not fix this over pricing you will lose money.
