rebeccaj wrote:come on, to be fair, they certainly do! There's threads on other boards about overcharges at Morrisons, Asda and Sainsburys so it's not exclusive to Tesco by any means. Only Tesco offer the r and r, and as such have left themselves open to the sort of abuse of this policy we are seeing on this thread.
But they are by no means alone in making pricing errors.
Yes you a probably right actually, its just I don't seem to notice them, and I do check my receipts as I'm walking out the shop.0 -
Guidance please Dudes....
I spoke to Head Office regarding mulitple purcahses and R&R (it was for 2 Batman DVDs that Gloucester CS gave me a hard time over).
HO said that there were a lot of people trying to "defraud" Tesco by purcahsing "entire shelfs" of mis-priced products and asking for R&R.
She also said that individual stores have the discretion to identfy such people and refuse R&R.
I'm no legal man, but this argument seems to be on dodgy ground?
Any comments Dudes?

Good. I'm glad Tescos are taking that stand. Hopefully they'll enforce it.DONE: Great North Run 09! Raised £452 for the National Autistic Society

Anyone got knowledge of the policy for being charged extra for goods online?
I was charged a different price for Bakers Dog Food - £4.74/pk instead of the web price of £3.98 (my confirmation email stated the lower price too).
After checking that the lower price was still available online, I emailed Customer Services, who said:
"The prices quoted on our Grocery website are guide prices only. The prices for items can vary slightly either up or down, from day to day. Therefore, the actual price you will be charged, is the price in our store on the day that your order is picked and delivered"
Does this mean they can charge what they like?
Any help out there?0 -
Don't email them - call them up and tell them you have been overcharged and that the price now whilst you are online is still showing the lower price so why are you being overcharged? Usually they do refund immediately - just call again until you get someone reasonable on the end of the phone. As even they 'vary'...bit like their prices really, eh?
I have found the online service to really mess up often and I simply call them and complain and they refund without much fuss at all - which I like. I've even had someone else's items/complete delivery....but they usually end up ignoring my discount code when speding x amount coz perhaps 1 item is not in stock so the whole order ends up less than x amount - really annoying as we cannot check precise stock levels.0 -
We were driving past Tesco today and my husband asked if I wanted him to stop for petrol. The sign at one side of the store said 84.9p per litre but as we drove round the corner the sign said 85.9p. We stopped and put £26.50 of petrol in and after paying we went into the store car park, walked round to the other sign and took a photo of the lower price and went into the store.
There was no queue at the customer service desk which was surprising. I just said to the girl that I had been charged too much for my petrol and the older lady behind the counter came over to speak to me.
I had to wait between 10-15 mins while she spoke to various people including the petril station manager but when she came back she just asked me to write my name and address on a piece of paper and promptly handed me £26.50 in cash.
My husband was really surprised at how easy it was.
We drove past the store a couple of hours later and they had now changed the sign.

Just a quick question regarding the related Tesco mis-priced thread; I have visited my 2 local Tescos; 1 is a 'standard' store (Havant), 1 is an Extra (Chichester).
I have never seen a CD or a DVD 'stickered'. All music, video and games are in the encapsulated protection sleeves (secturity tagged). Where and how are these CDs stickered as I have yet to see one?
And a quick gripe - the LCD screen on the self scan in Tesco's Havant (the only mahine in store) is bust! 10 out of 10 for the misprice thread I've got a few days off this week, I'm determined to get a Tesco freebie! :xmassign:0 -
The stickers tend to be on the CD / DVD themselves placed before it is encased in it's plastic box. Similar sticker as you'd get on a book i.e. a large bold price with the word tesco and an oval "drawn" round it. Not always easy to spot as sometimes the sticker is obscured by the security "sticker" on the box encasing it.
"Good" Tesco stores appear to remove all of the stickers before boxing the CDs/DVDs. The worst offending stores just leave the stickers on (as delivered by the supplier), and then don't reopen the cases if the price on the SEL changes, or the sticker is wrong.
In my experience the smaller Tesco I go to the only CDs or DVDs with stickers on are the 3 for £20 type stickers. The larger Tesco Extra usually leaves the stickers on Non-chart CDs (but removes nearly all DVD stickers).
FWIW the Tesco Extra I go to also has a busted price checker! Morally, though is it an overcharge if you've previously checked the price you'll pay prior to purchase?
