spa2k wrote:Take the CD charts for an example. People kept taking advantage of the pre-printed prices on the charts by buying multiple copies of a mispriced cd and then posting/boasting here and no doubt other places. Result: Tesco stops printing prices on the charts and no one gets R&R from this particular route. Objective achieved? From a Tesco point of view yes because no one is buying multiple copies of a cd and then getting it for free. From an MSE point of view, no, as no one is getting R & R from the charts.
Can i just check with them now stopping printing prices on the chart posters does that mean every single price is now correct or we just don't know about it now unless we scan items?
I think it just means that of course they will still be overcharging on CD's as is the case as people are still finding them but less people will know they have been overcharged!!Darren0 -
To those complaining about people getting refunds on quantities of overcharged items -
For every item R&R'd it's almost certain that Tesco has sold multiple quantities of it already at the higher price. When the overcharge is pointed out to them, instead of amending the system price to the correct one (other than outdated SELs), all they do every time is to remove the label, thereby continuing to overcharge customers.

About 10 days ago i got a r&r on the stevie wonder cd,my brother in law got the same 4 days ago in the same store. The display has been replenished at least 3 times to my knowledge & the cd is STILL showing a sticker with £9.77-scanning at £10.89.I can only conclude the store in question is happy to overcharge on this item,by the way there was 5 on the shelf at 4.30 today.0

It actually stops the overcharging. If the system price is set at £9.97 then that is what you will be charged. If for some reason the poster had the price of £7.97 printed on it but the system price is £9.97 then you will still be charged £9.97 as that is the price as set by head office. By removing the £7.97 from the poster, the "overcharge" is prevented.
Why would the poster have £7.97 on it and not £9.97? - possible printing error, possible change in manufacturer charge, possible change in Tesco price, who knows...but as we all know, it happened.Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!

Actually addy, the correct price is the one you are being charged. The price indicated on the piece of paper attached to the shelf is the wrong one...the store should change the label, not the price on the system...that is set centrally. By removing the label the store is removing the misprice, the label should then be replaced with one advertising the correct price.
Add to that the amount of encouragement to "check straight after a promotion change" or "pop in first thing monday morning as there are refunds to be had" and it does become mickey taking......Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!

But we could say it the other way as in it should be the price that should be on the poster as they have reduced it but it hasn't been reduced so we are being overcharged can we not?Darren0 -

So, would you please explain why pre-packed brocolli is today reduced from 99p to 69p, as proclaimed on a big yellow poster - but is scanning at 99p?0 -

The selling price that is charged is the one set on the central pricing system and not one pre printed weeks in advance on a poster. The prices can be changed at very short notice, the posters cant. I for example get over 100 posters delivered a week. Each one is checked against the authorised selling price by us instore. I dont adjust the price if the poster is wrong , i simply discard the poster.Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!

Hang on a minute spa2k - the posters are specially dated for each week! How can you/anyone say then that the correct price is the central pricing system one?
- what a load of rubbish you are coming out with on this board to try and justify overcharging, aren't you?
(**This is not personal either - I'd say the same to anyone as I don't know you at all so forgive me if you think I'm a bit blunt with you - no intention just annoyed when I hear a poor comment like that).
What you're saying is that Tesco's left and right arms don't coordinate their actions - ie they misprice! PS I work in IT and previously for a competitor although I have even visited your HO for a job before so I do know your systems can certainly price correctly according to poster prices what you 'prepare weeeks in advance'? ...if you wanted to.0
