I'm a mature student and very interested in getting one of these as I've recently started a college course and it would be useful for me to get one so I can work somewhere quiet away from my 3 year old! I would mainly use it for word processing, occasional browsing and email. Which would be the best one to get bearing in mind I'm a fast touch-typist (so the keyboard would need to be good) and I would like long battery life?
I wouldn't get a netbook unless portability was the main concern - I'd just get a bottom of the range 15.4" screen laptop

Thanks for that but I already got the Acer Aspire One just over a week ago and I'm very happy with it so far :D I walk to college so I needed something that was very portable. It does everything that I require and it's not my main computer (have a desktop at home) so it's perfect for my needs. As a touch-typist I find the keyboard to be absolutely fine and haven't made too many typos on it yet either.

Amazon have the Aspire One for only £180 delivered, which seems to be a very good deal and is cheaper than Play.com.

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=225532&C=Newsletter&U=08P11-7_A98HX&T=-11914405

Sorry if this come out funny. I don`t do this much. But the cheapest Mini Notebook I`v Seen is this one from MAPLIN. There seems to be some issues with it. Memory size & needing to use an SD card, or a USB key. The other thing is the offer ends today 24/10/08. The Price £139.99 inc p&p seems good though.

Just reserved an acer aspire one a110 at comet they are at 179.99 .I had email from amazon they too have reduced these to that price also tesco direct. It seems a very good price for one of these I was looking at the asus eee 701 for my daughter for xmas most places are out of stock and those who have them in stock are more expensive than the acer which seems to be a better one.hope I have made the right choice.

I was also thinking of buying one from Tesco, using a code and some of my Clubcard vouchers (I know I can get 4 times on deals but I don't really need to use them anywhere else).

I can't find the code for the voucher though, can you tell me which post number it is please?

    Ta.

    :)
