  • Can anyone tell me exactly what a netbook is? I'm thinking of buying one for my brother? All he wants is something so he can get internet access, would this be any good?

Here is a good description in a nutshell - http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080927033953AAVUT5V

I've just bought an Elonex ONEt for my 7yr old for Xmas.

I tried to do a bit of research before buying but couldn't really find anything either way. Anyone know if it is any good?

It was £100, so I'm not expecting it to be brilliant, but enough for a 7yr old. I know it runs Linux, has a 7" screen, wifi, usb ports and an SD card slot

Saw in ASDA today they've reduced the Aspire One to £198. It's the 512 MB 120 GB one running Linux.

The same price gets the 1 GB model from Amazon UK

True, but not everyone likes to shop online. (I'll probably get the Amazon one, myself ;))

See current PC Pro - Acer Aspire One is best value and Samsung NC10 the best netbook overall, for most people. Dell less good, Toshiba less good still. I'd go for Aspire One A110-ab (£170 Amazon) for lowest cost, but Samsung NC10 if he wants to run Windows XP rather than Linux. If he wants to do much more than web browsing, email and word processing, the Samsung would be the better bet (£292 Amazon).
  • The HP 2133 Netbook (120GB version) back in stock at Misco.

    Hi

I'm looking to purchase an Acer Aspire One.

Does anyone know the difference in features for the different models?

I was in Currys and believe I saw the Acer Apire One 110 for £150 or so. Did I read this correctly? Seems very cheap!

Where's the cheapest you've all found?

Had a look at the saved image on my phone.. it's of the price tag at Currys. £159.97 for the white 110 model. Appears £7 or so more expensive on their website!
