Over at channelflip they've got a series on netbook reviews, I also noticed yesterday that Tesco were selling an acer for under £200 didn't take any notice of the model number though:-

Do these netbooks have usb ports? I can't see any mention of them in each one's spec.
Three USB ports on the Asus Eee.There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

My kids have got the eee. I haven't looked at it much but they are used to nice computers and are happy with it. The 10 yr old was sitting next to me on the couch tonight playing a web game that involved choosing a presidential character and paint balling Hilary Clinton. McCain won every time!0

Yes, can agree with that as I bought one yesterday after reading the messages here and doing some research. It has 3 USB ports, like the Asus, but the Acer also has 2 card readers (one on each side) so you can leave an SD card in the left-hand side slot to increase your memory size. I decided to go for this one as the keyboard seems better for me than the Asus EEE PC, I can always buy a spare battery later if I find the battery life is too short. I reserved it online and picked it up at my local Currys store (£199) but I went through the Topcashback site so will get 5% cashback. The man in Currys said I'd picked the right colour (I got blue) as he thought the white one was "horrible" There seems to be quite a good user forum here: http://www.aspireoneuser.com/

we saw a super sexy Packard Bell netbook in Curry's the other day but there was no info posted about it I do know it was running vista
This wasn't a netbook - it was just a small laptop sometimes called a subnotebook. This is the one:

However Packard Bell are going to release a netbook in the near future

I've deleted this post as I've realised it is no longer an offer.0

It looked more like the recently released on to be honest, it was on the same display as the eeepc and the Acer netbook and was of a very similar size, I wish I did not dislike the high street retailers as much as I do so I will spend sufficient time in there to look properly next time !.Signature No Longer acceptable -

Hello MSE
Any chance of the article being updated to include a comparison of the Dell mini laptop?

Got the Acer Aspire One A150Bb today in Costco at 234 pounds including a two year warranty.
DS's Macbook died when we had only had it for 18 months old and he was waiting to see what was new this week. I was not inclined to replace something that I didn't consider fit for purpose. He decided (under a bit of pressure) that they would be far too expensive to take to college every day anyway, so we were recommended to get the Acer as an interim until he can afford to replace the macbook.
Looks good so far.
