I am still working on the basis that this is an outrageous, frustrating delay, and not yet a disaster. Assuming we all eventually get our money, can we agree a level of compensation that should be demanded for the sheer stress and inconvenience they are putting us through? Maybe a concerted demand would be successful.

I've complained to the www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk service. It made me feel better, and plus I figure might as well get the ball rolling now.

BACS £9k widthdrawal made 10-10, still no sign.
  • Just got off phone after speaking to ING Customer Services and have been assured thar my CHAPS payment from 7th will be in my account by close of business today. Person I spoke to said they had just been updated to that effect and she said my CHAPS payment was not be one of 5% manual payments referred to on yesterday's ING Update. I didn't give my account details so I think this must apply to all such payments.
Here's hoping they keep to their word.
P.S. Also said the charge for original CHAPS transfer would be refunded at same time.

I have been put through to some sort of priority line. ha ha, that was 9.19am. Now look at the time, its a 0845 number, they are profiteering from our misery. I will have to hang up just to get a tissue. i am now crying

Please can you contact Ch4 and tell them your follow up story?

Try not to get upset, we’re all behind you.

yet again I have been hanging on the phone on a 0845 number for over half an hour now and reading your posts. I was so stupid to believe Alastair Hemmings Customer Relations chap I spoke to Saturday would actually ring me back. I have been cut off twice now and now fear and third cut off or perhaps they will keep me on hold till this evening I am beginning to doubt anyone is going to answer this line. Getting panicky now.

With respect, you should have realised that you can't trust them. I've had several conversations with various of them (both at ING and K-E), and they're all pretty clueless about what's really happening. Even when you get through to a so-called "supervisor", you're still only talking to a low grade officer. The real bosses aren't to be seen. Most call centres work on the principle that you really need to go up about 3 notches in the hierachy before you get anyone useful with a bit of clout, but that's usually impossible unless you are complaining about something highly specific, and they've had plenty of chance to brief themselves. Right now, at K-E the helpline staff are simply fire-fighting, as the people who are actually involved in the repayment mechanism (in K-E's treasury dept) have made themselves virtually inaccessible.

i have £27k which i tried to transfer on the 8th oct. still no sign and ING said this morning it would be by the end of this week, but didn't sound very convincing.
Bang goes the theory about the 10th then!

Me too, still waiting for CHAPS initiated online on the 7th. It would be good if ING would acknowledge that we are not just a small minority of people who have, up until now, waited patiently for their money, it seems to me to be all of us who transfered money by CHAPS! My patience is now stretched to it's limits!

Yep - also CHAPS on 7th at 9am for 10k.
They are a complete shambles. Surely the FSA should be stepping in?

Me too, have been hanging on for ages, but I will hold on all day, need some definite answers from somewhere now. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

FSA - Useless, we can't help you.

Who's up for calling the Police?

It was supposed to be here FRIDAY!!!!!

I'm well aware of that , thanks - the point I was making to the poster was that just because First Direct said a CHAPS wasn't showing today , doesn't mean it won't still be paid today...
