Fair enough Luke but I do get sick of all the negative comments in this thread aimed at an institution that has taken on a major task ... sorting out someone else's mess ... and who are doing it as quickly as possible.

I have no connections or dealings with ING (other than £1 left in my KE account that they have now inherited ;) ) but having spent my working life in the world of finance, I know how long someone else's mess like this can take to unravel, and the fact that ING has managed to get money back to the vast majority of KE customers in such a short time span is nothing short of miraculous.

To those who are still waiting for their money to come through, think about this ...

Who made the choice to deposit with KE ... YOU DID

Who ignored the warning signs ... YOU DID

Who failed to get their money out in time ... YOU DID

Now take some responsibility and thank the organisation that is now saving your sorry !!!!!!, because without them, you wouldn't even be looking forward to a payment now.

    Dave.

WHAT WARNING SIGNS YOU !!!!IN MUPPET
  • I think, and I hope I am mistaken.....but I think all of us with CHAPS requests made before ING took over Kaupthing.....we are the ones who will have a fight on our hands.
I made my transfer out with one request chaps, no closure, on 8th.

Please can other peple tell me here, if their request was after the 8th.

Very early on in this thread, someone raised this point, and that is what is worrying. ING have no responsibility to us, who made the request before 8th.

Am I right in assuming that all people waiting made their requests beforethe 8th?

There is a ray of hope in that many of the BACS people who made their transfers, were before the 8th, and they got paid.

However, early in th ethread, someone posted that CHAPS went through Kaupthing Singler FRiedlander, who are in the hands of administrators, and hence our funds are with the administrators.

We are gonna have to escalate this!

I sicerely hope I am wrong, but we will have to grasp this nettle! No use burying our heads in the sand.

    ANYONE GOT ANY IDEAS?

Mine was a BACS made on 5th. However, I don't see any logic in ING not being responsible as any CHAPS not yet paid were held in KE's holding account I assume, therefore still part of KE assets
    Non illigitamus carborundum!!

Surely this can't be right. What was the point of the government doing the deal with ING if it wasn't to protect our savings?

If they've paid the BACS from before the 8th why would they disciminate against the CHAPS?
    CHAPS 8/10 received Halifax 20/10
    BACS 18/11 (£30) (actioned 19/11) received CHAPS Halifax 21/11
    BACS 24/11 (£50) (actioned 25/11) received Halifax 28/11

This is such a crass reponse and you seem to have missed a main point - it is the fact that our money is MISSING i.e hasn't been seen in Kaupthing nor a linked bank for 11 days now that is causing so much concern. People on here ARE taking resposibility - and helping each other out. Glad I'm not your next door neighbour - wait a minute, his name is Dave, oh nooooooooooo

I hope u r right....but the writer of the post suggested they were with KSF at the time, and administrators have those funds.

    ooh bit harsh dave?

Not at all, just a wake-up call. Don't bite the hand that is feeding you. An insolvency can take months or even years to sort out ... ING are getting money back to former KE customers in a matter of weeks ... money that would have otherwise been lost forever.

I just really hate ungrateful people, especially when they criticise others for not getting them out of a mess 'quickly enough' that they created themselves.

I hope you are right, cos if you are not, we will have an awful mess to clear up.

The way I understood it, that our requests fell in a very narrow window of uncertainty. BACS are handled inhouse at KE, whereas chaps are sent to KSF, so BACS money did not leave KE.

Have alook at initial posts here, pages 1 to 20?

Is there anyone here, who made a chaps request after 8th, and is still waiting?

Who is here whose chaps request was before 8?
