Just checked & money received today!!! BACS transfer made on 7th! Looks like the payment system will collapse today! If anyone checks on their internet banking and finds that it is not showing, telephone their bankers as it could be showing as coming in today on one of the bank screens but because the BACS payment can be recalled and is not technically cleared until the close of business it may not show on your internet banking until the close of business. Hope everyone else is lucky today!

I know it's difficult and I'm waiting on money too but it is still only 8am in the UK. ING have said payments by close of business today.

Imagine you had made a CHAPS payment 5 minutes ago in the normal course of business from some other regular account. It probably wouldn't be in the target account yet either.

I know it's tough and I'm in the same boat, on the hook for 35k but there are a lot of millisecond electronic transactions that can take place in the next 8 hours!

As for people that can't see their BACS, that is a bit of a worry but they could be coming by CHAPS for some reason or the recieving accounts customer service could just be wrong. Who knows.

Remember, ING have told one of us that there will be 26,000 CHAPS transfers today. That's either pretty specific information or a HUGE lie. I really do believe it's the former.

The reason CHAPS is charged for is because someone sends the money by telegraph from one bank to the other, utilising two human beings' time.

If you think 26,000 CHAPS payments will be made today, I'm sorry but I think you're deluding yourself.

Well done all of you who have received your money. Spend it wisely (not).

Just phoned HSBC, no sign of a BACS for today or even for Monday. He did say, as ever, they do update throughout the day and to check back later.

We shall see. Got a lot to do today so will call them mid afternoon. Good luck with yours.

    nice one ES10 :) congrats!

Oh no ...are some of you guys still waiting?

Just for the record , mine was a BACS payment inititiated on the 5th but didn't come out till the 7th. Looks like they are leaving you CHAPS as the original method of transfer.

But don't worry because at least now you know they are sending money so you WILL get it ...sorry that you have to wait though
  • My BACs transfer, initiated on the 7th October, arrived today.

I would like to thank all the positive responders to this thread that have helped me through the long wait.
  • NOT ARRIVED YET

    BACS initiated 7/10 pm

    Halifax
  • As promised by ING, my BACS transfer from 8th October is in my bank a/c this morning.
    No problems.
    No worries :)
If it's not a bargain, it's not worth buying :D

What is your source for this info, or are you just guessing?

ING said that they are doing a bulk CHAPS transfer today. Under the circumstances, normal procedure is out of the window.

My worry factor has gone down 50% thanks to the successful BACS people posting on here.
