  • When I first posted at 6.20ish yesterday, the account was just as it was before I transferred using CHAPS (I took a statment print at the time to prove it).

I've just checked again and the money has gone from KE, along with a £20 fee - fingers crossed it'll all arrive in my linked account later this morning.

Just thought I'd check my KE account again and now the record of transactions including my CHAPS has disappeared. You guys got the same?
  • Hi, newbie here. I initiated my CHAPS payment at 7pm on Tuesday. The £30,000 left my KE account immediately however there's still no sign of it in my linked NatWest acount.

Please add me to the list!

Has anyone managed to contact Kaupthing by phone today (8 Oct)? I transfered money by BACS on Sunday and it has not reached my linked account.

I got through to KE after spending over an hour redialling. I spoke to someone who told me that they were operating as usual and that it would take 3-4 days for my money to reach my linked account. I transfered it out on Monday so officially it should be there today or Friday. However, previous transfers have only taken 1-2 days so I am worried. Is it true that the money in transit won't be protected? Surely, if it is still in KE's system it should be? Can anyone help with this? I have 70k at stake.

I too initiated a CHAPS transfer yesterday 10am which has still to appear in my target acccount.
These are very extraordinary times and any problem is easy to magnify out of proportion - this is not irrational behaviour but simply reflects fear that uncertainty breeds in the current climate. Personally I don't believe KE have been processing majority of CHAPS (and possibly BACS) payments for some days. (Don't assume posting on your KE account is evidence that a transfer has been actioned - posting to your online account is one thing but keying the actual payment is likely to be a quite seperate process.) This failure to process may be because of volumes of requests but more likely due to a "run on the bank" leaving them with insufficient liquidity to meet all the withdrawal requests.
Whatever the reason, I'm sure ING will want to resolve it asap. I'm sure our money will turn out to be safe though possibly missing a few days' interest.
Having spent Tuesday evening with someone who had some £250k+ in Icesave and thought they'd lost most of it, I hope I've got a sense of perspective. My advice - be concerned but don't panick about these withdrawals not showing up in your target accounts!

  • My transfer was yesterday (9th) at about 11am) by CHAPS. Out of KE account immediately but still not arrived in nominated acount yet. Everything crossed at he moment. More difficult as I am in Thailand and time differences are a pain in the backside sometimes !

I initiated a BACS transfer (£32k) out of KE on Sunday evening. As of the time of writing (Thursday early morning) it is not in my linked account.

At what point should I start panicking? ;)

I sent £xxxxx by CHAPS to my linked Lloyds TSB account yesterday at 9.15am .
No sign of it arriving in my nominated account yet today.
Add me to the list please.
I have a Lloyds TSB current account - do these accounts use your normal account numbers for CHAPS ? I know some banks make you use a different account number. Help!!

Add me to this list of in limbo CHAPS payments..
  • £2000 by CHAPS; transferred at 2pm Wednesday 8th Oct.
Still no sign of it in the HSBC account that I was tranferring to...

Perhaps what we are seeing is a 'run' on this bank?

Despite INGs re-assurances, do they really have enough to cover all the withdrawals?
