9.00 am Tues 7th Oct transferred by Chaps and still no sign in linked account, but has not bounced back (yet) like it did with Icesave. Would be nice to see it somewhere back out of the ether.
  • On Sunday the web wouldn't process my £10k withdrawal by CHAPS so I called the 0845 number. Lady took my instructions by phone to use CHAPS on Monday. By 2pm on Monday no funds had arrived so I called the 0845 again to chase it. I was pleasantly surprised to find the cash in the home branch at close of the day.
However the CHAPS initiated by my wife for £10k on Tuesday has allegedly emptied her account but it still has not arrived in her home bank by EOB Wednesday. The 0845 number is off the hook continuously.
Can Martin check whether the new owner of KE will recognise that clearly KE had no funds with which to complete their CHAPS transactions and they need to be competed pronto with a refund of the £20 CHAPS fee?. Shaun Smith

  • I did a BACS transfer on saturday, money taken out monday morning. So in theory money should have been in my account by this morning but still not there. I keep checking the current account and getting disappointed. I'm disappointed but not worried or panicking. I'm sure it will turn up tomorrow or monday. I will sort of panic if it doesn't turn up tomorrow and take some kind of action if it doesn't turn up on monday.

As I see it now, obviously more was happening behind the scenes with Kaupthing (panic) than we were being told and I presume that as early as last weekend the writing was on the card for this bank and action was being taken by them to prevent a run on the bank before the official announcement has been made. As of 7.00 this morning Kaupting is no more so far as banking is concerned so let's see what Alistair Darling is going to do about this one!

  • I have just seeen on my KE account that it has just shown my account has been debited which i am somewhat rekieved as I action the transaction on Monday. But now I have to wait to how long it will take to be deposited in my nominated account. Slowly slwoy we are getting there.........

Also it looks like KE have opted for the Dutch compensation scheme......... Any view on this?

Has anybody had a successful chaps transfer from ke to their linked account???????

    Yes thankfully.

I did a chaps transfer of £16k on Tuesday at 1.45pm. It appeared in my HBOS account sometime around 6pm.

So why are their staff at 8am this morning answering and immediately hanging up without speaking?
Mr De Wit, your blandishments are as honourable as the Icelandic government's guarantees.....

I did a CHAPS transfer to my nominated account on Tuesday evening. The transaction appeared on my KE account Wednesday 8 Oct 08 and hasn’t appeared in my nominated account yet. So, at the moment, my money doesn’t exist.
  • I arranged a CHAPS txfr yesterday, Wednesday morning, this morning [Thursday] it has appeared in my KE account as left [on 08/10/08] complete with £20 fee.

Fingers crossed I should see the money in my account today.
