Getting a council house! is it possible anymore?

RIGHT, defo final posting.

I have said already that that nit picked bit of info was not related to anything else, but some additional news for the person who told me to return to Rome.

It was unrelated - and my following point was that the feeling in this country could escalate if we didnt control our legal intake (let alone the thousands getting in illegally). We are currently in a situation where we are expecting unemployment to rise sharply - why are we still allowing people to enter the country when we were assured we needed these millions of extra people to fill the job vacancies we had. And please dont give me the old, they do jobs our lazy sods wont do - as quite honestly many of them ( NOT ALL)do those jobs on a very temporary basis until they have been here long enough to claim their max benefits. (This fact was given to me by a immigrant who works with new immigrants advising them on their rights and she was quite embarrassed and despairing about it). The government needs to tighten up on many areas of our benefits system, not just those involving people coming into the country.

I despair of the education system that has produced such ignorant, beligerant people who seem to have all the time in the world to argue about nonsense when they are unable to see or accept logic or even know the basics of history or geography. To keep ignoring the facts and making snide remarks intended to irritate makes me wonder just what sort of sad lives you have. May be a bit of voluntary work would be more satisfying for you.

I have decided not to lie afterall. Instead, I will take on some of the good advice I recieved and I will go to the CAB, get a Dr's note, write to my MP again and go back to the council to speak to them to reiterate my GENUINE situation.

Also I have to point out that my partner and I pay taxes therefore WE DO HAVE A RIGHT TO APPLY FOR A COUNCIL HOUSE!
When I applied there was nothing on the form saying you can only apply if you are homeless. The only criteria was that you must be a BRITISH citizen.

So regardless to what some of you say - I will still be applying for a council house.

Now that I am not going to 'exagerate' my situation you have nothing else to get irate about now do you? so go and find someone else to shout at.

lol i said the whole rome thing to show a point ... which you proved by saying you were from norse/jewish backround .... you are the one that nit picked going into lots and taking it futher ... my point was you and your family are also imigrants nothing else (and i have no problem with that as we all are)

Glad to hear it and honestly i do mean best of luck getting it!
I dont know how soon you will move but add to your list when you go to the CAB to ask if there are anyways to get your current landlord to sort the problems out at your place .. they should be able to advise you what to do as he shouldnt be able to get away with what he is doing (and could well be doing it to other people to :mad:)

Is it only nit picking, then, if you can't answer the question?

Can you explain how setting "a limit to incomers" will prove a deterrent to illegal immigrants who, by definition, have arrived in the country despite current immigration law?

Because if you can't, you just look very silly (and none too bright) spouting it off.

Good luck kiddo. I worked for many years as a volunteer at the CAB and I am sure they will give you assistance in whatever way they can.

OK. I have never posted anything on this site before, but I read alot of threads on here every now and then, and when I saw this one I was so outraged I signed up so that I could post.

I am disgusted by the angry comments and insults that have been directed at the OP by some of you who are probebly twice her age, and old enough to know better (Avinabacca and welshwoofs).
In fact I would go as far to say that a few of you are nasty bullys.

What is it exactly in the original question that has gotten you so mad? I really can't to believe its due to the fact that the op admitted to contemplating telling (shock, horror!) a lie, because every single human being has told a lie at one point in their lives, and if you cant admit to that, then you are LIARS!
So what is the real reason why you are so angry???

Someone comes on here asking for advice and all you have done is judge her, call her (in an indirect way) a theif, a bad parent, stupid, racist, a chav with a baby who will recieve an asbo, someone without morals........ it is totally uncalled for.

You all say that she should basically shut up and be grateful for what she has and how dare she even consider wanting a bit more money for her family. if I remember correctly this website is called: MONEYSAVINGEXPERT! as the op pointed out herself: you wouldn't be on here if you weren't wanting to save money yourselves, this is all she is trying to do.

Also in an earlier post the op said she lives in Somerset - I don't know how many of you are aware of this but the west country is one of the most expensive places to live in England - house prices are second higest to London yet wages are low.

I am part of a generation now who will never be able to get a mortgage and will never get a council house - I will be private enting for the rest of my life yet I still have to pay hight rent because house prices are so high at the moment that I suffer too - it's not just people with mortgages who are suffering
