sonycard (Mastercard by MBNA)

Options
Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone makes use of the following card and if you receive the pulsebeats catalogue for getting sony products, if it contains anything half decent in it !?

  http://www.sonycard.co.uk/

At a brief glance,...the card itself is by MBNA, has 0% for 6 months (bal trans with max £35 fee or 2%) and you receive 2000 pulsebeats to get you going...

Thanks in advance...

right now ive got my CC set up with a direct debit so it pays it as soon as i get the bill, should be able to do the same with this shouldnt i? any difference to my standard hsbc card?

not to concerned with rates pay everything off straight away and very little chance of me going over the limit, i know theres prob better cards that will give me money or freebies but theyre got to be amazing to tempt me away from this

As highlighted by Martin in his credit card freebie article, they're now giving away a Sony MP3 player with the Sony Card. And you can get £4.50 cashback if you apply through Rpoints: http://www.rpoints.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=1077486
  • Has anyone actually used the offer of the free MP3 player? How much do you have to spend to receive the 8,200 points needed to get it?

Do you not have to order it from the catalogue online then? As they give you 8,200 pulse beats, you don't HAVE to have the mp3 player, you can keep the pulsebeats and wait until you have some more surely? As it says you can use the beats against mp3 player, or cds/dvds.

Does anyone know what the ratio of money spent on the card to pulsebeats earnt? Is it 1pb for every £1?

I applied for this card yesterday, so am waiting for them to contact me.

Yes it is 1pb per £1 spent.

Looking at the catalogue it appears that each pb is woth about 0.5p so it is equivalent to a 0.5% cashback.

I've applied and been accepted for this card as I wanted the MP3 player for a Christmas present. I am wondering now if I will have to wait for my first statement to start to claim the free MP3 player, if this is the case I am thinking that I probably wont be able to get it in time for Christmas. Has anyone else had any experiences of the procedure to claim etc and the time scales.
    Many Thanks
  • So does anyone know how much your initial spend has to be to qualify for the 8,200 points?
