Just an update on this and another thank you. If anyone else is having problems it is easy to request the unlock code from Virgin if you have topped up over £30 with them in the past. The only downside being that they quoted a 7 to 10 day wait to get the code by email. So if you are a fool like me and made several erroneous attempts before hopefully this will be a foolsafe method! They don't ask many questions, just the IMEI and where you got the phone from. It costs 10p to speak to one of their customer service advisors.0 -
I have just managed to unlock my Orange SPV E200 for free! It was not easy and required installing a patched version of ROM software.
If anyone wants information on how, please PM me!
The phone now works with my Vodafone SIM card!0 -
Soz im a tad confuzzled by all this, if i buy a nokia 1100 on Virgin PAYG, can i stick a vodafone sim card PAYG straight into it? or would i need to enter a code?
If so can this simply be a matter of typing it into the phone, ie no cables and trickery?
Thanks0 -

if you had £30 of virgin credit on it then you can get the unlocking code from virgin for free. but if you pm me your imei number from the phone when youve got it i will give you the unlocking code without buying the credit, or you can try yourself with one of the online code generators0 -

Do they really do it for free or just take £30 off your PAYG account?0 -
It is for free if you PUT £30 of credit on your phone for you to use, or if you have been an existing customer for a while and have used more than £30 of credit they will then email you the code to unlock your phone.
You are not charged for this via the credit on your phone.

EDIT... should have mentioned... If you want to do it by CODE - Tmobile can supply a subsidy unlock code for £15 you need to have had your account open with the for 3 mths!
and it takes upto 14 days but usually alot longer for them to get back to you with the code!!if i had known then what i know now0
