What a great opening post Queenie and quite thought provoking. I must admit my mind has wandered to New Years as well. I always find the event depressing and a time when I miss absent friends - I envy those who celebrate the opening of another year with excitement and anticipation. I'll be glad to see the back of 2005 tho a very unhappy and difficult year.

Now I've cheered you all up I will go and have me tea. heheh

    Hi everyone :j :j :j

Well, I've now finished for the term - and at that school. I was there on supply in one class, and although they were terrors, I was really sorry to leave today. They got me a lovely bunch of flowers and the children (thanks to the Teaching Assistant) made a gorgeous card. It really made me well up.

Tomorrow's plan is to REST. Bliss! :) Having said that, I need to pop to Wilkos to get some bits for my new school. I suppose to miss the terrible crowds of people shopping, I'll have to leave quite early in the morning. Ah well, such is life. My main aim for tomorrow is to watch "Make Me Rich" and to also sort out my finances.

We have just had a gas bill and I am horrified at how much it is. There's only 2 of us and well, let's just say that for a month it's a bit more than Jo's is for a quarter. Having read all your comments, OH and I really need to do something about it. Then again, the bill is definitely less than when we were in our last house - which felt sometimes like we were living outside.

We're going round to some friends for supper, so I've got to wrap their presents in a minute. Aren't I organised?! Anyway, at least tomorrow I'll be able to get fully up to speed with everything else. However, I need to buy another present for one friend's 18 month old girl. We bought something for her Christmas present back in October, then 2 weeks ago saw her and she's quite advanced for an 18 month old. The present that we got her seems really babyish now, but will be ideal for our godson who is just 2 months younger :rotfl: Any ideas folks? Oh, and it needs to be from Tesco or Boots (and those of you who shop at the Tesco Extra at Serpentine Green/Hampton in Peterborough, any of those shops! :D). I don't want to deal with the stress of driving into the centre of the city!

    Vicky,

My suggestion is to try and find a shape sorter, either Boots or Tesco are bound to do one. My daughter is 16 months and LOVES her one. Its a hand me down from her step sister and myother 2 have used it too. Great for hand/eye coordination and teaches them shapes too. Some also come with different coloured shaped so you can use it for colour teaching also.

A very Old Style night for me. My kid brother is stopping by to take me out for a meal.

    If he's good I'll buy him a beer :)

See you all tomorrow, hangover notwithstanding.

Morning, er, afternoon - OK, well, good evening everyone :D :j

A late post for me, but I was up and out to my mum's this morning after I'd packed DS1 off to school. Did mum's cleaning and last bits and pieces for Xmas, picked up next door's son from school at lunch time (same town as where mum lives), lunch at hers then over to school to see DS1 in his Xmas play. He was a drummer/flag bearer character (well, you have to get 117 infants into a nativity type play :D) He didn't do much but I have video of him singing and doing suitable arm waving as well as listening to the granny next to me humming 'Away in a manger' just off key :(

Went to pick up another boy after school then popped into a friends house to drop off pressies. Ended up staying for coffee so didn't get home till 4.50, which meant a very healthy tea - fish finger butties :D Well, the kids loved them (except DS2 who's eating nothing but fruit and veg at the moment ) So, the CQ curry sauce that I defrosted will be used tomorrow.

So, tonight I need to feed the WM an assortment of clothes and get on speaking terms with my iron too. I really must wrap those last 3 pressies too :) DW needs unpacking and repacking and kitchen needs a good wipe down. The rest can wait until tomorrow.

I agree with you about today's MMR. £600 pcm on food as well as all that takeaway! Send her over to OS - we'll sort her out (in the nicest possible way. If you're already here, say hello :D) My thought though, apart from the money was 'how unhealthy' If we got her truly OS'd, then she'd not want more than 2 takeaways per month. I can't eat a takeaway curry now - far too salty.

Righty - ho. Must get the sprogs bathes and into bed. They are both over tired, so could do to be asleep sooner rather than later (but it never quite works that way, does it...)

    Have a good night

Calleyw "He has paid out in the last few months about 5 lots of prescription charges. just to get to this stage."

check out the prepayment prescription...its like a season ticket for prescriptions. works out cheaper if you use more than 5 in four months or 14 in 12 months...

Yes I have thought about that but did not realise everytime he was going to get a prescription and then tonight he got whammed for another 3 items so there goes another £19 odd and for asthma which is chronic disease we have to pay for all prescriptions. Go figure.

So he might well have to get one. Is there anway to claim it back if got a season ticket now. As we really can't afford it at the moment.

    Yours

  • hi all

Hope you don't mind me joining in but I have read this read almost every day and haven't taken great ideas from you good ladies and gents.

Re the prescription costs - I myself have asthma and I use the prepaid certificate - I have heard that if you have paid for some prescriptions in the past and you have a friendly chemist then they could offset the costs already paid against the pre-paid - I have not tried this myself yet as I get a 4 month certificate and order enough meds through my docs to last 8 months ;) - it may be worth a try
