Hi - I haven't been near the computer for a couple of days, so have missed you all.
This morning DS had his orthodontist appointment: good news, don't have to go back for 6 months & he only has to wear his retainer at night now. Then zoomed half way across the county for piano lesson, so am looking forward to lunch (er, not so OS: it's a frozen pizza between us... but i did get it on BOGOF!)
Lovely & sunny here, but very cold. The washing is done, but will get half dried in the TD then finished in the airing cupboard.0 -
Hello Everyone:rudolf:
I'm back after my few days off. Had a brill staff party last Thursday, but said a couple of things I shouldn't have - but that goes with the territory!
Been so busy getting stuff ready for Christmas - bought the tree, decorated it. Done some shopping and have just got round to baking sweets. Oh and the turkey's arrived
Got four days of work, then off for a day, working Christmas Day in the morning, but then off till the New Year!!!!!:snow_laugComping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -
What a nice idea, P-P - a real coffee morning instead of a virtual one! It seems there are at least 5 of us within a 5-10 mile radius of your house, with others not that much further away. Pooky's in Kent, isn't she? I wonder which part? And perhaps Lillibet can pop over from Surrey and introduce us to Spud.
Just got back from community carol service in Southwark Cathedral. Finding it difficult to sing the congregational carols because my voice is absolutely shot from all the wear and tear I've put it through in the past fortnight. Trying to make it better with lots of steam and Vitamin C cos I need it back by Saturday evening to sing a Mozart mass (midnight mass at my church) and Sunday morning to sing solo at Christmas Day mass (the whole choir doesn't come in on Christmas morning).
Have eaten a portion of my favourite HM spicy sausage casserole for lunch, and the chilli and garlic seem to have had a positive effect on my throat at any rate.
Back to work - ho hum...Operation Get in Shape

Afternoon all
I'm right down the other end of Kent near Dover, closer to France than I am to you lot! :snow_laug
Today has been very non OS, went out with DD's and a friend to a local indoor play centre, ended up costing £22 for entry, 4 bottles of water and lunch for DD's and myself....(although it was a lovely lunch) I'd budgeted £50 for this bank of school hols and will struggle now to do cinema trip planned for Friday (need to dig out the big hangbag that takes a few bottles of drink and some HM popcorn me thinks).
Last nights dinner was lovely - beef stew with dumplings - I added some mixed herbs and some chilli flakes to the dumpling mix for extra zing! Not sure what tonights dinner will be - jacket spuds and beans if there's enough potatoes left I think.
Need to make some jelly and fairy cakes in a mo for tomorrows Xmas party I'm throwing for all my littlies, will be lovely to have them all together as they normally all come on different days and don't get chance to mix. Will be 13 kids with my friends charges too. DD's are in charge of helping them all make their own christmas hat to wear at the table for lunch then we'll have some musical bumps and general tearing around like loons for an hour to wear them all out. Then I'm off for 3 weeks!!!!!!! :j And ooooh how I'm looking forward to it.
Hope you're all having a great day.
p.s. just watched MMR - that woman needs a kick up the backside £600 a month on food....and all those take aways and expensive wines...she needs to pull up a chair and get hooked in here!!"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
kiwichick wrote:JW1069 - my gas is £25 per month for a family of 5 (our heating and hot water are both gas), dont know how that compares???
Im sooooo jealous! I have gone through £30 in gas (on british gas prepayment meter) in 18 days. Thats heating and hot water for just lil old me! The house is just so cold so have to have the heating on alot and the meter just eats money! Roll on the next few weeks when i switch to ebico!
Anyway.... My day so far... up at 5am and had a nice bath. Scrubbed and buffed everything.. done a mini facial.. and even painted my fingernails for first time in about 6 months! lol Must be something up with melol... Dunno why i bothered though cos i knew i was spending the day cleaning the house throughly top to bottom! :snow_laug
Started with the bathroom - im going to start handing out wet wipes to all my mates when they come round and use the toilet (they are all lads!) .. im a GIRL and i live alone... therefore i should be exempt from having to clean up pee off the toilet bowl and underneath of the seat!!! Sorry to be gross... but i was disgusted when i lifted the seat to see how all my friends had "made a mess" and not cleaned it up!! I always make sure the toilet is clean if i use it at a friends house etc.... urgh MEN!!
Now i am just taking a breather after all the tidying and cleaning, watched MMR and now im carrying on filling in the application forms i started earlier.. one for the inland revenue and one for the DWP so as you can imagine... loaaaads of questions! Everytime ive sat down today to do them i just cant concentrate so give up and go do something else!
Really do need to sort my clothes and photograph all the stuff i wanna ebay (to pay next months bills i hope as im totally totally skint!!) i have borrowed Nickis digicam and they are off to the lakes on friday to her OHs family for Xmas so they wanna take it with them so keep having to remind myself "i must do them photos!"
Really wanna fit some baking time in at some point too... Craving mince pies! :xmassmile And need to make a lazy pizza for tea so may aswell make use of the hot oven!
Ah well better get on with these forms...
Speak later!

Hi Again,
A coffee morning is a great idea PP. Can I nip down from Birmingham too? (you are thinking now, what have I started?) I think a book is a great idea, its one way of getting things off your chest isn't it.
Johanne Im glad you mentioned about Nicki because I had not seen her on here for a while, glad she is OK.
Well can i release all my pent up frustration AAAAAAAAAAAArrrgggghhhhh!!!
Now I feel better.
OH and FIL have spent up until 1.30 demolishing my kitchen. They removed a cupboard and decided to cut a hole in the wooden panel that was behind the cupboard and covering the pipes which run out of the central heating boiler rather than remove tiles. Firstly FIL's jigsaw broke, they bought a new one and that broke too. Then when they did get the wooden panel off they discovered that the tap they were looking for was further along the wall! They ended up removing some wallpaper and cutting through again. (Luckily we have another roll of wallpaper in the loft and its no match stuff) Then they discovered it was not the right tap!
The right tap was - guess where - behind the hot water tank itself in the airing cupboard upstairs so they had demolished my kitchen for nothing. God I could scream!
They have now done what I suggested in the first place (but Im only a woman what would I know!) and used filler as its such a small drip.
FIL has gone home and OH is putting my kitchen back together. At least its DD1's choir carol concery tonight, so I will have a good sing song and release some frustration.
Tomorrow I am going to Symphony Hall in Birmingham for a radio show broadcast - (Anyone in the Birmingham area, it is the Ed Doolan Christmas show) I dont listen to him myself but my mum is a big fan so I sent off for the tickets (free!) as a surprise and we are meeting her friend there too. They even sent free bus tickets! I think there is usually surprise celebrity guests and things so it should be good. It is DD's last day at school tomorrow too.0 -
Hey Everyone!
I think it will be a great idea. You can nip down from Birmingham if you want hun-my coffee aint that good though :snow_laug I'll supply the coffee/tea and you can all bring some biccies...HM of course
JW1069-Im in a 2 bed semi (quite small) and I pay £10 pm dd and am in credit. I only have GCH (on a thermostat at 19c), gas hob and gas fire in lounge (which only goes on when its really cold and have several layers on..lol). How big is your place? Do you have a combi boiler? I would post over in the gas/electric section and see if your useage is ok. It seems quite alot if theres just you and OHDo a meter reading for 24hrs then work out your annual consumption by that, obviously you will be using more gas if you have GCH ATM coz of the weather.

This has been a very sad day for us we have taken the caravan down to the dealers to be sold.......I feel so depressed, we reallly loved that van and have some happy memories of the times we had in it.
We went to Tesco on the way back, I had some money given to me so spent it on luxuries..... a walkers pork pie, sitlton and white stilton and apricot chesse, ardennes pate and a bottle of pale cream sherry.......along with all the other bits we wanted... have to go to the market for the veg tomorrow......
Home made fish and chios tonight with the last of the creme caramel, the end of a bottle of white wine to finish.......cheers...........

The day got worse as it seems my husband now has asthma on top of two other medical conditions. One very minor and one could be slightly more serious in time.
And I have found out that because we are not on benefits he has to pay for all his prescription charges. Oh joy more money to be found out of thin air.
He has paid out in the last few months about 5 lots of prescription charges. just to get to this stage.
And they did not even have his chest x-ray back from nearly 2 weeks ago. The hospital is just across the road. Oh she said it got to go to X hospital 18 miles away to be read and a report written and then it is sent back.
Well at least husband finishes work early on thursday and does not have to go back until the 3rd.
And they are just picking up the rubbish bins. The bins have been outside since 7am. Must be on a go slow this week.
Yours
