Not going good today. Firstly it was after 10am before I got up.

Started to tidy up put the washing on and now I seem to have broken the washing machine with my washing in

Not happy as I was hoping the machine was going to last at least a few months.

Fingers crossed that it is just the door handle and husband can fix it. Will need to nip up my mums to get my washing machine fixing manual back.

If we can't fix it then we are going to be wearing dirty clothes over christmas :snow_laug

Better go and price a few machines up just in case.

    Everyone take care.

    Yours

    Calley

  • I set 4 mousetraps in the loft on Friday. This morning I heard one spring so have just gone up to check things out. 2 traps were sprung and completely empty, 1 had the peanut butter eaten without being sprung & 1 was totally ignored. Now I have to work out if I have light-fingered mice, or if it's actually squirrels or rats.

Back from my trip to the docs as promised. What should have been a 10 min appt took 45 mins! Short story being I have had my happy pills dose increased by a factor of 3!!! Also been told it seems I am a compulsive overeater but that xmas is NOT the best time to tackle that one- go figure. Have to go back in 2 weeks to see how I am coping.

So, now its time to get the BM on, the washing out on the line and the house cleaned.

    Hope you are all well,
    Al.

I like your current signature kiwichick - it sums up my position too! I usually seem to be so organised when it comes to pre-Christmas (and should have been even better this year due to OS!) but I managed to spend £60 in a single weekend on various sort-of-essential frivolities. I also managed to miss out on a good bargain - got my dad a nice bottle of Scotch single malt from Oddbins, who were doing £10 off if you buy 2 bottles of whisky, but was so heavily laden for various reasons that I wasn't in a position to carry an extra one home (the one I did buy was given to him 15 mins later when he bought me dinner - which, due to an uncharacteristic attack of stage fright caused by the show I was about to sing in, I barely touched :()

Bought some costume jewellery to go with my concert dress, which set me back £26 (!!!) though the £11 necklace was a terrific closing-down-sale bargain and is PERFECT. Also bought some quite expensive tights :o

Later that evening I paid a £17 cab fare to our after-show party, and the 2 people I shared the cab with were students so I didn't mind the fact that they only had about £4 each to pay me back. I also had to buy some make-up - foundation and powder, again because of the show, cos I'd lost the ones I already had

Having slept over after the party I left for church far too early cos of not knowing the bus route - ended up with an hour to kill on a freezing cold morning so sat in Starbucks with a large latte and a cheese & marmite toastie, which together cost nearly a fiver!

AND I'VE STILL HARDLY BOUGHT ANY CHRISTMAS STUFF - AAAAARGH!

A very late post today been a bit eventful, had a hospital appointment at 8am so was out early and then late into work - was rushing around trying to do lots of things at once as everyone seemed to want me to do something  but did go to the pub afterwards.

OH has done a load of washing - which I've half put out on the airer, did me tea and is currently making cookies. :j

Think I'll try and put another load in, finish putting the washing on the airer and then have an early night - must catch up on my sleep.

And I also sold £8 worth of stuff which was almost all free stuff from boots with vouchers etc :j - mean's I've easily achieved my wedding ring target for this month :money:

  • I have heat!!! The engineer arrived at 8pm, so only 58.5 hrs late

I will never get cross at the central heating again for being a bit noisy. We were lucky it could be fixed - one of the fuses on the circuit breaker had blown and they are they very old type that has fuse wire strung between 2 screws. Fortunately the landlord had left a stash of wire

    Goooooood Morning :hello:

Now that all my Christmas preparations are complete, I've been thinking about the coming year.
So much has changed in the past few years in Queenie Land, and certain aspects are still a tad unsettled, but, the one thing that remains constant in all our lives is money! We all need it and we all have it in varying degree's - but, if life throws you a few low-ballers, it's so easy to become overwhelmed when those "varying degrees" well ... vary!!! And it's all too easy to lose focus on practical issues and attitudes towards them.

So, I found Martins article, written at the beginning of *this* year, a useful reminder that, even though "money makes the world go round" and I can't stop it, I can actively slow down the speed that it spins around if I remind myself of a few simple basic strategies ;)

    Moneysaving Resolutions

And if I should have any problems with any Christmas purchases ... I've printed off another of his articles on Consumer Rights:

So, pretty much a "reflective" morning here LOL :D

On a practical level - aside from the 20min whip round, the day will be spent with my boys enjoying their company :D:D (If it's dry later, we'll wrap up warm and go for a walk to see the house decorations around the neighbourhood ;) )

B: Crumpets and freshly squeezed juice
L: Vegetable Soup and a mince pie
D: HM fish pie with steamed veggies; Natural yoghurt with a teeny sprinkle of dark brown sugar

Have a Thrifty (but fun) Tuesday
