    Hi all

Our friends have left now. Their dog decided that he would manically run around wagging his tail, so the bottom of our Christmas tree doesn't have any baubles on the bottom few branches anymore!

We had a really yummy supper last night: a "cheat's moussaka" from the BBC Easy Cook Autumn mag, and OH made a gooey chocolate pudding from Gordon Ramsey's "Make it easy" book. It was really yummy - and none of it cost the earth. Very moneysaving! Breakfast was bacon sarnies, which is always the treat when we have friends staying over. :D We've got some more friends staying over next Friday night - so more bacon sarnies. Mmmmmmmmmmm. :D

We've got plenty of washing to do. My school breaks up on Tuesday, so Wednesday I'm popping to the local town which has a brand new Wilkos (to get bits for my new classroom in my new school). The rest of Wednesday will be trying to reduce the ironing mountain that has been created recently. :p At least I will be able to do half an hour of ironing in front of "Make Me Rich" in the afternoon! :snow_grin I've noticed that on one day over the Christmas period, Make Me Rich is followed by "On the Buses". Well, what an afternoon of watching pleasure that will be. :D

Better go as I've got some marking to do. What a joy!

Yesterday had all my old schoolfriends over for a little Xmas party, it was good fun. I tidied and cleaned the whole house before they came, so fortunately have little to do today. Have the last load of washing in the WM right now, have done the rest yesterday, and am hanging it out on airers in the living room.

So... yesterday the car had its MOT, cost £120 as needed a new part on the exhaust, could be worse as the car's getting old now. I need to move some oney over to a different account to cover that. I need to nip to Tescos to buy some flowers for stepmum as am going to hers and Dad's today and she's cooking a meal. Also need to buy a few raffle prizes for my slimming group this week.

I have started looking at brochures for next week's holiday already, I am keen on going to Switzerland, and will hopefully use some of my Tesco Clubcard vouchers to go towards the cost of it.

    Have a good day all.

Managing to post in the morning again - shocking ;)

Up a bit earlier than usual on a Sunday - decided not to set the alarm again but try and catch up on our sleep.

Still in bed on the laptop watching countryfile - feeling quite smug as they're going on about carrier bags and how many people get through and chuck away. When OH and I went shopping yesterday we bought stuff in 5 different shops and used no bags at all - our two callico ones in boots, marks etc and then bags for life in Sainsburys :j

Must get up in a minute and have some breakfast - got some pastry type things to have with tea/coffee then want to carry on trying to tidy up in the living room.

Need to wrap up OHs presents today as not sure if we've got enough wrapping paper - but don't want to go and buy some if we don't need it - this stuff is left over from last year - having had to bring lots of Christmas cards, paper and tags from old house in our move want to try and avoid it for next year as we'll probably move before then.

Will do a bit more washing, change the bed, do the hoovering etc too. Pork for dinner tonight and going to try and go swimming this afternoon.

Right must get up - as least it's not too cold here today.

Hope you all have a good day

    Morning everyone!

It's a wet and windy day here in N.Ireland, so will snuggle up in front of my laptop and do my (stupid) essay. Managed to surf the internet for about five hours yesterday and didn't write a single word for college - so today I've really, really got to get on with it. The topic is education and achievement according to social class...it is more interesting than you might think, and has me considering some very good points. Unfortunately nobody has the answer to make things equal.

I had a peek at my current account a minute ago, I'm in the black but only because a couple of cheques haven't gone out yet. I've got my Christmas shopping done but will have to be extra careful to avoid any more financial damage before payday. I want to get something for the veterinary practice but think that I should make enough fudge for all of them rather than buy for them. It's been an awful year for me, and they have been so good. One of the vets in particular is probably one of the most compassionate people I have ever met. He looked after me when I was in floods of tears over losing my beautiful kitties one by one. He wasn't embarrassed or awkward with this weeping woman but was simply kind and understanding of how I was feeling. Believe me, not all vets are like that.

KiwiChick, you are sounding mighty positive today. I really like the sound of your new house, especially the garden bit. My garden is tiny, north facing and a wet mud bath. My last place had a beautiful flower filled 80 foot garden south facing garden - you're going to love your big garden.

Afternoon OS ers.Havnt had time to post this past week due to work and xmas shopping, but ive been reading most of the posts.Done all housework from top to bottom today as i realy let me routine go out of the window this week

snowyowl so sorry to hear about your pet, hope you are ok.

ancasterso sorry to hear about your experience last week, hope you are ok too.

All xmas shopping is finished and wrapped, phew, and this is the first year for as long as i can remember that i havnt missed any bills like rent and council tax to help me along with the extra spending in december :j .Which is crazy i know as the immediate family(we are not a close family) i buy gifts for, i never see from one december to the next and we only live 10 minute busride away from each other. So December 2006 i am going to cross all those people from my list and im not even putting them into my spreadsheet. As i wont see them from dec 05 - dec 06 i will have to tell them this xmas eve when they come to drop off the gifts, dont yet know how i can casually tell them though, its actually quite a scarey thaught. But its got to be said as i have better plans i want my money for.

am i being a bah humbug???? or just plain old greedy????

This afternoon i have to nip and pay the elec bill at the corner shop,(paypoint) and write and deliver local xmas cards,im always the last one to send.Must look through fridge and freezer to see whats needed to be baught this week.Got a new 2006 diary yesterday which needs filling out and dates circled and things IYKWIM.Got a new money plant given this week,so im hoping it lasts a little longer,if not forever than my last one.Anyway must dash as i need some lunch, hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend.

OUCH TM- I would have gone and kicked Mr TM with my remaining good foot if I were you- SOD

I've had a couple of hours kip and am pondering what to do for dinner. Am thinking of roasted veg with crumbled feta (cheap as in LIDL) but something else may strike me later.

JOHANNE- are they allowed to do that to you, legally I mean? It doesnt seem fair in the least. Is there anywhere you can check that sort of thing out???

Off to watch DD1 (3) now as she has prepared a "show" for me to watch.

    Chat later,
    Al.

  • Hey

TM-Hope your foot and fingers ease up! I hate men sometimes  My OH does 1 thing and thinks he's done everything

Just had lunch of jacket spud and left over chicken curry from last night...scrummy. Lamb is roasting lovely in the oven and will use the fat to roast the spuds :p Its a free range organic leg of lamb which was reduced to £2.50 a few weeks back. I have some chestnuts and am going to serve them with the carrots...something different as I dont have any sprouts. Will do the batter for the yorkshires in a minute and will leave for an hr or so. Might do petit pois with the roast for a change. Am thinking of doing a small sponge too but need an easy recipe for the microwave, have all flour and syrup etc...any ideas????

OH has cleaned outside bottom windows this morning and has done more stuff in the office  We've had an argument this morning and am currently not talking to him. He's so inconsiderate sometimes and Ive just had enough ATM. I really hate this time of year-brings back alot of bad memories and always get depressed.

Will probably post later...if ive not been done for manslaughter

    See Ya

Up at 6:30am this morning but far too busy to post a hello - sorry

The three MATHLETTS took centre stage at the church Nativity this morning. DS1 was a Shepsherd with solo, DD was Sparkle the Bethlehem star with solo and mini DS2 was a King with two very long speeches (for a 5yr old). Cue one very proud popsickle. Reserved two banks of pews for inlaws, outlaws, exlaws, and other assorted bods we call rentacrowd/family.

Lunch was bacon butties with we ate 'a deux' as the MATHLETTS stayed on for the Sunday School party. No time for a roast today as I have to get the MATHLETTS spruced up later and into robes for the Carol Service at which the older two will solo again and my head will probably explode.

My living room looks like backstage at the Empire Theatre but I think I shall have a quality street and say sausage to cleaning until tomorrow. Just remembered that I had better skip me afternoon tincture as I've a lesson to read tonight and I don't want to be theeing when I should be thouing and beholding when I should be shalting.

Have a good day - nice to hear you sounding more perky Kiwi.
    TM - ouch!

Whoops - no baking again today.

I sallied forth with all good intentions of buyng some small bits and pieces, mainly to hold up the ever-increasing number of Xmas deccies my mother has been buying this year. I thought I'd treat myself to another bottle of vax carpet shampoo too - yes, decadent I know, but it brings me barnet up a treat :snow_laug

Anyway, having arrived at B&Q via the ever open doors of Matalan (no jumpers I liked but did treat me sore tootsies to a new pair of socks), I began a quick perusal of the rapidly dwindling line of Xmas trees and deccies (had someone let my mother loose in here) and came out sometime later with a 7ft 6inch luxury spruce artificial tree (reduced to £34) and lovely star for the top (97p) and a couple of other bits. I'm having to have a Baileys-U-like coffee while I gather strength to continue putting it up. It's about 15 times the size of our old one which, having been lovely decorated by the boys yesterday, lies in a forlorn and discarded heap on the hall floor. I can see the visitors fighting not to end up on the end seat of the settee, as you can't see the telly at all. I think I'll have to remove some of the lower branches so I can push it further back across the window seat. Also got a lovely 2 ft Xmas tree 'statue' thingy with fibre optic lights inside for £8.

And - even bigger news, when I got home, Mr TM was managing to push the vac around the house AND it was switched on :snow_grin Don't expect I'll get him to make tea though........

ps if anyone wants a 6ft artificial tree, still in good nick and will be travelling through Wilpshire in the next few days, pm me and you can have it.
