Morning PP,
I've been wondering where everyone is! Guess they must all be having a lovely sunday lie in......NICE!
How exciting to have the downstairs done out. I am really looking forward to moving for similar reasons. We bought our place reasonably cheap and the interior is REALLY tired and dated/falling apart. My friends say it looks like an old folks home - at least it doesnt smell like one hey
The new place has a new kitchen! and its twice the size of what we have now!!!! The garden is 90ft long by 40ft wide compared to a postage stamp - seriously, my grass patch here for the kids is maybe 4 square metres at most.
Cant wait, should be about March time.
My WM is on its second load, the first is on the line though I think I may come to regret that later as it will prob freeze stiff! Washing up done but still have to get the BM on. Told DH about my new budgeting plans last night, none too happy
Told him he needs to be more aware/accountable for what he spends so I am giving him pocket money each month which has to last him. I'm having his salary paid into our joint acc rather than his own one so I can transfer as and whenTreating him like a child really but reckon it will work.
Off to check my ebay now as there are some matress protectors I have my eye on - kids aye!
Chat later,

Morning PP and Kiwi :hello:
Had a fairly lazy day yesterday, so today will be a busier one
Need to get to the DIY shop and then the Farm Shop.
Read an interesting article this morning ... "Am I addicted to money" and I thought it would be fun (?) to try "cold turkey" after Christmas.
Had to bite my tongue yesterday when I walked into the kitchen and saw a toy gun and a large coat hanger on the floor ... "Boys! Can you pick these UP, please!" ... quick as a flash, d11yo came running through ... "We're playing a HM version of Cluedo ..."Aww, (thought I) how creative. ... turns out the cheeky blighter was pulling my leg and they were just being lazy B's ... had to admire his quick wit though and it did make me chuckle
As this is my "Downshifting" Christmas, I am happy to report that no further decs are going up :j (Just the tree early this month and door wreaths + some ornaments on the display shelves). All gifts are wrapped too :j
B: Beans on Granary Toast (we like ours with a smidgen of Marmite spread on the toast first)
L: Floret GratinL/O pork hocknot, Yorkshire Pud, roasted root veggies; rice pudding with fruit
"Toothbrush Rug" is also on the agenda but much depends on my DIY endeavours elsewhere in the house today - hoping that by having my "Housework" CD on that I shall be zipping through the house with gusto and a smile today!!! LOL
Have a super Sunday, OS'ers ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Morning Queenie, PP, pinkfairy and Kiwi,
Glad you sound better Kiwi!
I will start getting ready for work soon, wanna leave early so I can run a few errands. Need to pay a chq into my Halifax acct and there is one near my work so will pay it in the cash machine. Then I want to buy 2 of my work colleagues some chocs for Xmas (celebrations or something?) so will pop into Tesco as well.
We will have smoked garlic sausages and spinach/ricotta tortellini for dinner (not very Sunday-ish but forgot to take chicken out the freezer!).
Have a good day!! xxMortgage-free wannabe!0 -
mornin all!
Warning: Long winded and moany post.......
Been awake since about 3am.. kept fallin asleep in my nans then my mums yesterday from about 6pm.. was really feeling poorly.. vaguely remember my mum and dad gettin me in the car and running me home but i have no idea what time that was as was 1/2 asleep and like a zombie.. i just come in (had enough about me to remember to put my yoghurt, mince and milk away in the fridge though! :snow_laug ) then slumped on the sofa and fell back asleep. Dunno whats up with me i feel so dead! Meant i didnt get a chance to go back into work like i was meant to to explain that i was signed off for the week to personnel! OOps!! (Being signed off again means being made unemployed on xmas eve as thats when my 3 months of "support" are up and they terminate my contractGreat present eh?!)
Just been pottering as havent got the energy to do much.. made myself a big english breakfast but now i feel sick again! Got the sneezes too!!!! averaging about 3 a minute :rotfl:
Meant to be going to the continental market in town today with my mum! :j It only comes once or twice a year and i love it! its such a treat....didnt know it was visiting again till i was in town yesterday and spotted it.... unfortunetly id forgotton my cashcard and didnt have any money on me which i didnt realise till in town! (Hence why i had to walk at least 2-3 miles in the freezing cold as i didnt even have enough change for the bus home! )
The other plans for today are:
- Finally clean and tidy house top to bottom
- Wrapping the last of the presents and check i have everything
- Possibly doing some ebay listings ready for later in the week
- Make some mince pies and other goodies
Then at some point i have to sit down and ring my friend to have a long and painful discussion about finances and whether hes willing to get a house/flat with me as i'll have to leave this house in about a month now as i cant afford it anymoreI could move home with my parents but it means giving up my independance and all my belongings!!! Id be going back to a box bedroom with just space for a single bed really... from a 2 bedroom house with 6 rooms that ive fully furnished myself! So downsizing is a bit of an understatement!
Had a really rubbish year this year.. role on 14 days away when hopefully things might get better0 -
morning all.
queenie - love the idea of a downshifting christmas, we have only a tree up this year, with 300 white lights on, pretty but simple. our christmas dinner is the same, filling but simple. i havent overspent on christmas this year in fact well below what i had budgetted 05. i am planning a lovely day, just me and my children, i cant wait! :rudolf:
ancasta - chin up, if you are feeling unwell, put your feet up girl!
a baking day planned in my house today, and an inventory of cupboards and freezers. have nearly finished budget 06, tweaked within an inch of its life lol
have my eye on a few items on ebay, hoping i will win them as need new bedding for youngest two's new beds bought from MFI with tesco's deals vouchers ( actually havent bought them yet, eagerly waiting New Years Sale with £535 worth )

I know its a bit early but I've just marzipaned and iced the christmas cake. My reasons are pretty simple. We're off to see family next friday and so the rest of the week will be spent cleaning things up in the house. Also, I'm the only one home at the moment, so it seemed a perfect opportunity. The rest of the week can then be dedicated to organising and cleaning this up before we leave on Friday. At least that's the plan anyway.
My cake is a little 'taller' than usual, but turned out easy to marzipan and ice. I just hope that everyone likes it, as I used a different recipe than usual this year.
Last Friday night the tree went up, and we now have a lounge full of boxes, wrapping paper and pressies begging to be sorted out.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move
Lily contracted Strep B Meningitis Dec 2006  Now seemingly a normal little monster.
Love to my two angels that I will never forget.0 -
Morning everyone :j
I'm hobbling this morningThe story being :
Yesterday, Mr TM, in one of once a month tidying up sprees, made some comment about me sitting there doing nothing (I'd been up since 7, dealt with kids, putting WM and DW on, BM on, cleaned and cleared DS2's room, got deccies out of loft and put up 2 trees etc and was sitting down on here for 10 mins with a :coffee: Cue 'slightly heated debate' with me agreeing I am more untidy than him, but cleaner (IYKWIM) and the fact I do just about everything incl. shopping, all Xmas preps, DIY etc. He told me he does HALF of the work in this house - OK, he irons his clothes, sometimes puts away washed laundry - that's non-ironed socks, undies, packs DW after I've cooked and ...erm,.....a bit of tidying occasionally. At that, I had a bit of a girly strop. Then I stuck the vac in the middle of the landing and said if he was being me, I'd have vac'd up the bits under the trees by now, so he could do it. Anyway, last night I went next door to babysit. Came home at 12.10 and all were sound asleep. Crept upstairs in the dark, in stockinged feet (you can see what's coming, can't you) and fell over the vac  Now, I have a kirby and if you don't know what they look like, let's just say they are big and metal with lots of foot pedals etc on. Walking full pelt and catching the 3 smallest toes on it isn't nice. I then put my hands out to steady myself and whacked the ends of 3 fingers on the handle  So, I have badly bruised toes, bruised fingers, broken finger nails and a husband who's saying, well, you left it there. Grrrrrr - if nothing else, I never leave anything out where the kids would walk into it in the night. Imagine if they'd done it.
Anyway, he's taken the kids to church, so I'm going to get dressed and go out before they get back. Need to pop to B&Q for a couple of bits and it's much easier without kids in tow. As I didn't get any baking done yesterday, I may do that this afternoon. I've got some broth mix simmering at the moment so I'll make another veggie soup later too and BM needs to go on again.
B - tea and toast
D - whatever we fancy but something simple
T - Lamb chops, pots, assorted veg and maybe a pud if I have the oven on.
Have a good day everyone, I'll catch up later. Off to soak my tootsies.

Morning!
Im feeling a bit more positive today after yesterdays total nightmare and I did end up buying the boyf some xmas presents which were total bargains so I havent gone mad! I went over to Filton because they had a next clearence store there, and got a lovely cashmere mix v neck sweater for £10 (labelled as £18) and then there was a TJ hughes which I have never been to before, and got him a lovely new leather calvin klein wallet for £10 (labelled as £12). Ive already bought silk boxers which were mega cheap from ebay (brand new of course - never worn!!) so thats his lot, but at least there is stuff under the tree. I also bought a DVD player from Boots online, reduced from 35 to 20, absolute bargain! I didnt want a fancy one, but this one looks perfect for what I need and will be delivered free on Wednesday - yey!
I used some of my vouchers from work to buy some mugs to match the dinner service I bought last month, and will go into town today to use the rest of them. I think i'll treat myself for something nice or maybe buy a new housephone, id really like something cordless for a bit more convenience! Fortunately I have plenty of vouchers so Im not going to spend real money.
Work do was fun last night, ended up in a nightclub which was a bit of a nightmare (im an old lady now, I cant party like I used to) so came home reasonably early. Dad is coming to visit tomorrow so need to get the place cleaned up a bit, and a do laundry/ironing etc so I dont have to do it before I go back to work tuesday.
Anyway, am going for a shower, then shopping.
Have a lovely day all!
