    Hi Yall,

A bitterly cold but bright day today. Mrs MATH has taken the MATHLETTS out minus hat, scarf, gloves I notice  I've hurtled through my jobs and will be going out myself later. I know it's shocking but I do venture into the 'real world' sometimes. Tonight is deffo NOT Ol'Style. Pizza, oven chips, coleslaw, dips, doughnuts and X Factor.

Glad you're feeling brighter today Kiwi. A lidl virgin did you say...erm... is that as in lidl white lie?:p

PP another good flick to watch with your daughter is Anne of Green Gables although my little princess (8yrs) refuses to watch it with me now cos I blub from begining to end. lol If you see the box set at a carboot grab it - a real Sunday afternoon film.

Carterina, as a ex-smoker of 11 months I know where you're coming from. Mrs MATH also gave up in Feb but had a little relapse in the summer when her step-father died. You've probably heard it before but they really are no crutch and you don't need them. Regarding your Mum you could drop into conversation how much you are looking foreward to being with her and how much you will treasure a happy, peaceful Christmas with her. A bit of emotional leverage may prevent her putting a fly in the ointment. At the first sign of critisism dab your tear-filled eye and play the wounded soldier "I'm grieving too ya know" That usually nips things in the bud.

    Catch yall later

    Hi everyone :rudolf:

Hope you are all in good spirits today.

Lots of jobs to do here but not much motivation I'm afraid. Tree needs to go up, cards still to be written, food shopping to be done (Old Mother Hubbard here..), house needs cleaning too. OH was at his Christmas do last night, which would have given me a great opportunity, but I played Mastermind and Hangman with DS instead! Much more fulfilling.

I need to pick up DS's guitar later, the shop have been keeping it for me as it quite large to hide. Still in my dressing gown here but that is me Saturday treat. I have to get up, dressed, made up and off out to work (accountant) looking smart and business-like every day, so at the weekend I like to slob around a bit.

Looking forward to having my hair done this afternoon and we are torn between going to see Narnia later or staying in to watch Strictly Come Dancing, which we are all sadly addicted to. We could have HM pizza if we stay in as well...hmmmm

Oh well, must get off and have a shower. Catch up later.

PP & Kiwichick, hope you are feeling better.

  • Hi

Queenie-I dont think I really have the space for an airer  Im in a small semi with limited storage  My airing cupboard is chocca with towels and bedding and isnt very big etc-so no room there either  Often have 2-3 washloads daily to do, but had been drying outside up till 2 weeks ago when the weather turned bitter. Anyways, its blowing nice on the line ATM and will get OH to bring in as it should be dry. How much does a load in the TD cost to dry-anyone know?

Math-Funny you should mention that..LOL. DD & I have just watched the 1st series and have the next lot (grown up years) coming through our free rental DVD thingy next week. Looking forward to it. I like all types of films and programmes but loath anything cartoonish etc  I would say we watch more documentaries than anything else. Love national geographic and discovery channels.

Just about to have my jacket spud and DD joining me. OH is having a pastie he found lurking on the freezer and whilst cooker is on (fifnishing jackets off), have stuck 4 chicken breasts in there for curry later :j DD dont want curry, so she'll just have plain chicken and rice. Will be 1 breast left, so will make a carbonara for lunch tomorrow. Must remind OH to get the leg of lamb out for sunday roast tomorrow.

    Will catch up later.

Wow! 2-3 wash loads *daily* ??? With just the 3 of you???? Crikey!

I can't give you an accurate figure on how much a TD costs to run ... all I *can* say is this: if I don't run it ... I'm not being "charged" for it ;)

However, 2-3 washloads per day in a tumble dryer is going to add up to quite a significant cost X 7days per week ... not to mention the environmental aspect.

 I can see that it would be a "challenge" .... Do you have a linen cupboard for your towels and bedding? Ikea have relatively "cheap" underbed storage boxes where you could store your bedding/towels ... I've never used the airing cupboard for long term storage of household linens as it can discolour them (Not to mention any musty smells that can ensue)
I cleared out my linens a few weeks ago, specifically to reduce the *chocca* aspect - very therapeutic for me it was too :) hence my revamp. One of the best buys was the double airers - one of them goes over the bath; that, coupled with my shower rail gives me *heaps* of drying space.

I hope you find a solution that is "do-able" under your circumstances - maybe when OH has his shed/office done and you can reclaim your bedroom you may find you have more space to make it moneysaving to use alternative methods. All the very best to you.

  • Hi

Queenie-somedays washing is more, others less. I kind of have accidents IYKWIM, which obviously requires surplus washing. Think I may invest in an airer for when the bedroom is clear. Have a nice big radiator I can place it in front of and keep the window open abit to prevent too much condensation ;)

Quite proud of my DD. She has had jacket spuds plenty of times, but today she tried and liked the skin without us even saying anything....and she liked it :j i think as shes getting older she is experimenting more with her food.

    Hi all

Glad to hear you're feeling a bit better today Kiwi. I hope the driving lesson went well.

PP - what a kind thought from your westie's new home!

I went on a works do last night. Well, it was a meal out in a nice restaurant. Quite quaint, but the decor was straight out of the 70s! As I was driving, I could notice these things :D.

OH and I attacked Tesco this morning. We've got some friends coming round tonight, so I needed to get them a present. Anyway, I knew what I was getting them and it was on special offer - a slow cooker! They're in the process of moving to a new house, which is zapping alot of cash - I thought it would be ideal. I know a SC isn't the most glamourous present in the world, but we always get each other kitcheny things.

OH has just put the lights on the tree, so it's now my turn to decorate it fully.

    Better go!

A belated post yet again been busy recently as went out with friends on Thursday for a curry then out for works meal last night - enjoyed both a lot but tired now :o

Took us a while to get going today but have managed 2 loads of washing, I've wrapped up some family presents, written some more cards and OH cleared the washing up mountain - lots of glasses and mugs as just been in and out grabbing drinks.

Found a good time to go to the out of town shopping place today - about 5pm - was pretty quiet and managed to get a few extra bits to finish off presents with and got a few bits I wanted from boots and managed to get the extra bits of food we couldn't get in tescos the other day so went to sainsburys.

Just catching up on tele programs we've recorded recently while wrapping things up.

Penny Pincher - we have an airer a metal 3 tier one - and it's great, can take 2 loads of tshirts, socks, underwear etc, and is fine for towels, bedding etc. It hardly takes up any room and we live in a small 2 bedroom flat and it fits nicely in a little bit of empty space in there or sometimes we take it through to the bedroom next to the heater if we really want to get things dried quickly. My parents bought it for me when I moved into my last house as I knew the blokes who lived in it didn't have an airer and have lots of no tumble dry clothes - if you want any more info on the type I've got let me know - it also folds to about 10cm depth so can be easily stored if we ever don't need it. Hope that helps.

    Morning All,

An early start in the house of Kiwi today.DS and I have been watching Toy Story 2 for the last half hour and I've just managed to sneak away and log on.He's a very insecure little man and HAS to hold myhand wheneverheis awake - it gets a bit trying at times.

Well, I got the last of the xmas cards written out last night so will take a walk and post them today. Todays plan is to finish the wrapping and then make a lovely cheesecake to take to a friends place tomorrow night - YUM.

Also need to run into shops locally and get loo roll and chicken. LIDL was great yesterday, got a few bargains. They dont stock all that I would buy but the lower cost outweighs that and I will nip in there before going into tesco from now on. Serve Mr T right for being more expensive :p

Offto drink my morning coffee and browse, hope everyone has a really good day.

    Love Al.

  • Morning Hun & Others :santa2:

Glad your having fun! Thats what its all about with kids, the fresh air may knacker them out abit too

Dont pass out everyone, but I have no washing to do this morning-well not yet anyay..LOL. Toilet is cleaned and DW half full. All downstairs pretty clear and still clean :p

OH moved his computer and bits out to the office yesterday and our bedroom looks massive! BIL is coming to build a fitted in wardrobe in the new year, so cant wait.

OH & I were talking yesterday and I think we are going to use some of the savings to get downstairs all done out properly. The plasterer has given us a quote for skimming lounge and top half of kitchen, which will mean taking off all wall units (6+2glass displays), taking tiles off and worktops and skimming from top of base units and ceiling in kitchen and the whole lounge. All the walls are terrible and are crumbly so decorating is a nightmare. This is going to mean new worktops, tiles, sink (ours is knackered!) and possibly a new cooker as our built in one isnt working well. Have seen the tap I like in Ikea but its £145, but someone on ebay has said I can have there new boxed one for £80.....will have to decide today.

Did an inventory of the freezers and we have too much food.

Anyways, will catch up later I need some breakie.

    Breakie: tea and biccies
    Lunch:jacket spud & filling
Dinner:Roast Lamb, roasties, mash, yorkies, carrots, cabbage, stuufing and gravy

    Take care
