You are not a bad parent - a bad parent would not even notice that they had been sharp or unfair to the kids in the first place.
Please let your gp know how bad you feel - I know how conditioned we are to "put a good face on things" but if you had broken your leg you would not be downplaying it but would just want to get it fixed.
I had years of feeling like carp !?
It took years to show up that I was actually hypothyroid and now I am feeling much better.
The sad thing is that to get the help we need we need to be persistent and articulate and determined - but we feel too sick and tired to do this so it is a viscious cycle.
Big hug and you sound to me like a smashing Mum."This site is addictive!"

You lot are all so flipin LOVELY, huge thanks to everyone. I'm really sorry to have hijacked todays thread with my moaning.
I WILL go to see my doc on tues, that was the first apt I could get with my reg GP. The feb review for coming off the meds is a guide rather than agiven. I've been on my current lot for 4 months and they like you to do 6 before trying to cut down. I dont think I'm worrying about coming off them , I'm not embarrassed to tell people I'm on them and my circle of friends all know. I am moreworried that I am turning into myfather, both he and his mother are manic depressive and it scares the hell outof me. It was awful to grow up with.
DH would feel really uncomfortable coming with me. He is embarrased by it and doesnt even like talking to me about it. Doesnt know why I cant just get over it/snap out of it.
I will try and be honest with the doc about how bad it is for the sakeof the kids, its not healthy for them to see theimum this way. And they cant go on forever without being cared for properly. I'm not doing the job well enough at the moment.
Thankyou all for your support.

You certainly were not moaning and don't worry about hijacking the thread - I love the support this board gives that's what Os'Style friends are for (even virtual ones):rudolf: * adopts a wistful expression and hums the tune to the Golden Girls*
I'm sure the gp will have some options to explore with you and just doing something about it may help you to feel better.Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -

Your DH sounds very like mine - don't get me wrong - he would do anything that he could for me but got very uncomfortable with illness.
He was also a devotee of the "Just pull yourself together Man" school of philosophy.
He got chatting to a male acquaintance a few years ago who had been suffering from depression and just as DH was about to open his mouth - the guy said "If one more person tells me to just pull myself together I am going to smack them right in the mouth!"
He has been very quiet on the subject ever since!
Just thought it might make you smile (even a little) - it certainly cheered me up when it happened!:santa2:"This site is addictive!"

evening all!
kwikchick - like elona say's you sound like a smashing mum and just because your dad was manic, it does not mean that you will have picked up that gene, it's not always the case , you might take after your mum.
when u see the doc just be honest with him and your medication dates are not set in stone. my friend has been on the highest level of antidepressants u can take for years, she isn't worried she just wants to stay better!!
we are all different and we all have different coping stratergies when we feel like this. the main thing is focus on the kids, try to rest and you will come through this!! so i am sending u positive vibes chick. (((((())))))))and hugs.

Right, I've giving myself a stern "talking to" and pulled myself together for now.
Dinner is on, pasta, veg and cheese sauce - yum yum. Folded the laundry (not ironed tho), hoovered and done the washing up. The house is slowly looking less trashed.
I feel a lot better about myself having read all your kind words, they really are VERY appreciated.
Please dont let my moaning upset your evening and certainly not your lovely weekends - ENJOY THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thankyou all,

Hi everyone :rudolf:
(((Hugs))) to everyone who isn't at their best today, especially Kiwi and P-P. You both sound like you are going through the mill at the moment.
Worked all week this week. Manic as usual. OH on his Christmas do tonight so just me and DS in the house.
I am so far behind with Chrismas preparation. I still have my cards to write and send, none of my presents are wrapped and there is hardly any food in the house. Worst this is, the shops will be packed with people buying turkeys and chocolates and all manner of stuff! Oh well, must take a deep breath and get on with it.
We are going to see The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe tomorrow. DS is really looking forward to it as he has been reading the book. I am having my hair done too in the afternoon so I won't look like I have a haystack for a head over the festive season!
Have a great weekend everyone!
