Squeaks --- Drink plenty of water before you go to bed!!!!!

I've made 36 fairy cakes and iced them in a very festive red and green slop, 48 tiny rice crispie cakes - half of which I added orange essence too for a change and 18 individual jellies. I've washed up all the mess and stuck some washing going, put away the dry stuff and emptied the DW.....dinner was sarnies and fruit for DD's and poached egg on toast for me and DH. He's gone out for the evening, DD's are in bed and I've got a lovely chilled glass of wine and a tin of quality street calling me.

Permission to relax for the evening?

    Thanks for that info.

Not very well. So looks like another £19 odd down the pain.

If you are not aware of it at the time how the hell are you suppose to know. I would have thought my husbands doctor would have told him what he should be doing.

He is not a mind reader. And the Dcotor and the chemist could have said something. I reckon in the last 3/4 months he has spent in the region of £50 in scripts. Money we can't really afford to spend.

DH has just walked in the door and when he went to close it the b****y locking mechanism has fallen off!!!!! What the hell do I do now???? Luckily we have a front porch which has a locking (albiet not too securely) door so that will have to do for tonight. The big Q is do I claim on insurance to fix it or get a local guy? I cant get a local guy first and then claim as my insurers make me use their people. Also dont want to stuff up our 4 year no claims bonus just when we are about to move house and will have a bigger premium on the new place anyway. POO.

On a different note, DH has bought home some posh wine given to him by a client. Fortnum & Mason, 2 white and 2 red. Pity neither of us are big wine drinkers. I'll have the odd white if out with friends and we both think red tastes like vinegar! Sorry to all the wine bods out there.

I've had a jacketspud for tea and DH will be having fish (yuck). Kids are running around naked in the front room. How they arent cold beggars belief.

    Calley,

I've got a prepayment certificate, take tablets everyday, have 2 different asthma inhalers - one I take every day - and hayfever stuff in the summer, add to that at least 1 lot of antibiotics a year normally and so I got a prepayment certificate just after Christmas last year - was bad timing money wise but worked out I'd need more than 1 prescription a month so it was worth paying for it.

I got a refund from the post office once I had the plastic card in the post - I dated the certificate to start the day I purchased this perscription - but I did get a special receipt.

If your husband decides he's going to get one of the certificates then I'd try and go back to the chemist, with the boxes, credit card receipt if applicable and say you want to buy a pre payment cert and can you have a receipt to do it from them and a form - before I got mine I was asked several times by pharmacists if I wanted a form as I was buying inhalers and hayfever pills together and so was spending quite a bit - but I said it wasn't worth my while.

Hope you get it sorted - it's a right pain having to pay for prescriptions for things like asthma inhalers as I seem to get through them so quickly, at least I get 2 on each prescription.

Finished my Christmas shopping tonight :j and even got to use all my 20p coupons that were use by the end of the month - even ones which were the same - about 16 in all :money: and we topped up the wrapping paper and bought some reduced crackers to take to relatives as they don't have any apparently ;)

Must get on with dinner bit later than planned

Oh and I forgot - sold £6 more stuff today - all boots stuff I got with vouchers/mirror money off ones etc paid 25p for it all - wedding ring fund going very well and got a good walk to drop things off too :money: :money:

    hi all

Hope you don't mind me joining in but I have read this read almost every day and haven't taken great ideas from you good ladies and gents.

Welcome to the board, smokey112 and congrats on your first post!

There are lots of us that tend to read more (particularly on this thread) than actually post. It is always nice to get inspiration from other people's experiences. :)

I try to be more Old Style and love reading the board for all the tips and suggestions as well. :)

    Yorkielass,

I will point him in the direction of your post. I try and get him to explain that no one including chemist never mentioned about the special receipt or a pre-paid certifcate.

Even if my husband did not have asthma, to me it is disgusting that you have to pay for something that you use everyday most likely for the rest of your life.

If diabetics had to pay for there insulin there would be uproar. But asthma nah lets not worry about them.

I mean you get the pill for free no matter what your income.

    Thanks again.

  • Thanks Jo

Just re-read my post and I apologise for 1st post nerves and grammar - I should have said "I read this board every day and have taken on board lots of ideas from all you ladies and gents"

I hope to be able to add from my experiences

    Cheers

I am on the same medication - I have 2 inhalers for Asthma and have hayfever medication in the summer - I am also on 3 tablets a day for High Blood pressure and am awaiting results for Blood sugar test which could indicate Diabetes (might be better if I went to the vet - lol)

My doc's surgery is great - as I said previously I try to get as much of my meds as possible in a four month period and try to make this cover 6 - 8 months if I can

  • Morning :santa2:

Not a good night and just 3hrs kip.... Nevermind!!

Have a load in WM to put on in a bit. DW needs emptying-but OH can do that and toilet has been cleaned. Everywhere is pretty clean and tidy :p

I think we're going to the Zoo today for a few hours-its bloomin cold though, so will need to wrap up warm. Lots of layers i think, hat, scarf and gloves. Will take a packed lunch and flask of coffee, biscuits, crisps etc. Hopefully, there will be somewhere to get either a hot bowl of soup or baked potatoe. Prices arent too bad! DD goes for free as she has an annual pass and OH & I are £4 each ;) I will be taking the electric wheelchair too so OH dont have to push me and knacker himself out too much.

So, just a family day today. Will catch up later.

    Have a great day all.
