I love my MR fastbake!!! Ask away - I will endeavour to answer any questions. Never yet had a problem with loafs rising (the 2lb loaf always just about fills the tin - as in maybe an inch below the top of the tin).
:rudolf: :xmassign: :rudolf: (sorry - couldnt resist!!)I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are – Milton Berle0 -
Given some of the posts this morning I think I will throw my hat in first and see what treatment it gets! hehehe
I think we are far more conditioned by the way we were raised and the roles we fill as adults than what we have as 'tail-ends' IMO Men and women are not that different in my experience and some of your lightly critical posts about hubbys and other assorted men-folk I could easily level at Mrs MATH on occassion.;)
TM - carry on as normal is a man way of doing it and I can see where Mr TM is coming from. I know it probably drives you mad but he can't help it bless im.
You could tell him to take a long hard look in the mirror and realise you have an 'annus horibilis' and need some support and I don't mean stronger elastic in your 18hour girdle:p :rotfl:
Given the 2005 MATH highlights of
Giving up smoking x 2
Step-Father dying x 1
Redundancy x1
chez MATH has resembled a war zone on many occassion over the year. Kate Adey has set up camp by the pot plant on the landing! We found that spending most of the summer 100 miles apart worked quite well for us;) and communicating through post-its on the fridge when forced to reside in the same county:xmassmile

MrsB wrote:Morning All,
I know this is yesterday's thread now, but wanted to add my twopenneth worth about the wedding hymns.
Me too though no one will probably read it!
We had shine Jesus shine as the last hymn at our wedding, people grumbled beforehand that it would be cheesy but it worked well as most people knew it and enjoy singing it really! :snow_laug I think its better to have really joyous sounding songs that picking them just because they mention love, as the music will set the mood more than the words. I think that the last verse is particularly appropriate for a wedding, asking for your future married lives together to reflect God's love:
"As we gaze on your kingly brightness
So our faces display your likeness
Ever changing from glory to glory
Mirrored here may our lives tell your story"
Other than that we tried to have ones that most people would know or be able to pick up easily, had to balance it a bit as it was an anglican/Catholic wedding in a Catholic church and as MATH says certain hymns are more common in one church or the other (and of course there were non-church goers present as well). I got a couple of my (Catholic) friends to sit by the (anglican friend) organist and lead the singing to help things go smoothly for some of the more Catholic-tradition hymns.
For the record, we had Tell out my soul , One bread, one body, Lord of all hopefulness, Fill your hearts with joy and gladness and Shine Jesus shine. I love singing so we also sang bits of the service like the gloria and the lord have mercy and Holy holy (Catholic weddings are usually longer than the anglican service). We got married in Wales where Jerusalem is banned:shhh: There's somewhere you can go and get books to read... for free!

Had the day off yesterday, which I really needed. Got some more Chrimbo pressies, and with my vouchers, got some bonus points in WH Smiths:rudolf:

Decided to make a chicken pie thing for tea tonight. Nothing complex...chicken, chicken soup, a few spices and a pastry or crumble type lid. Won't get home until 6.30pm, so have informed OH of my intentions...and either he will do it for me by ringing me and asking how to make pastry or crumble, or he will leave it on the side. There's actually a good chance that he might give it a shot.
Having a bad day at work right now as I'm desperate for a delivery.....and no-one has any idea where my stuff is. Suppliers use Parcelline whose tracking system has been broken for a while now (or so I'm told). My last delivery went to Leeds, and if I don't get it this time I'm in a bit of hot water. Roll on 5.30pm when I can go home.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

Freyaluck......I've got a MR Fastbake....I've mixed views about it - their recipe book seems wrong - i've adapted it through trial and error but do seem to have the hang of it now.
Just finished my Christmas cards...had to make a few for special people (those that will appreciate HM that is) Just got to remember to get stamps at the weekend and get them all gone.
Not done any of the other things I was aiming to do and quite frankly I can't be arsed! Going to curl up on the sofa with DD2 and watch a film and enjoy the fact that I don't have to brave the school run."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Hello everyone
Out this morning, as DS had his piano lesson, then popped into town, to go to the bank & also buy some more wool to finish one of the scarves I am making for Christmas pressies. (was crocheting the other one during the piano lesson, piano teacher was interested so I have emailed the pattern website to her.)
This afternoon the hairdresser came, so I am now looking a little less scruffy!
Got some washing that needs drying, so will put that in TD shortly.
Dinner will be roast chicken.
I must go and do some vacuuming or something, not because the house is so terribly dirty, but I am cold sitting here reading the various posts & could do with some exercise to warm me up!0 -
Oooof I'm so tired today! Don't know why - well, yes I do, I've been doing way too much lately, but I got a perfectly decent night's sleep yesterday and nevertheless it's just been one of those days where I feel like I haven't been to bed at all. Everything aches and my eyes need matchsticks to keep them open.
Have been ploughing through a mountain of filing at work today. Basically I decided to attack every pile of paperwork currently on/in/under my desk, all at the same time! This is part of the master plan to leave in a few months. I was bored in my previous job but I didn't dare leave for ages because I would have had to admit to the amount of filing I'd never got around to! (Filing is my least favourite office task, it is the office equivalent of doing the ironing )
Just had reheated HM spiced sausage casserole for my lunch, then took myself off for a little walk round the block to try and wake myself up a bit, and saw a car with the number plate MSE! Wasn't you was it Martin?
Despite all the things I have to get done at home, I don't think I should push it too much this evening. Think the veggies in the fridge will keep until Monday when I have the DAY OFF WORK WOOHOOOOO!!!! so I don't have to make one of my big casseroles/stir-fries tonight just to use them up. Picked up a little pot of prepared mashed potato for 50p yesterday, so along with the chicken steaks in sauce which have been in the freezer for months and some peas, that's a low-effort dinner for me this evening.
Which leaves me with:
- go to shops on way home in attempt to find new evening dress, and possibly also a nice new outfit for the office Christmas party which is tomorrow. At the minimum I need to buy a decent pair of tights to wear with a dress I already have. Will go to Greenwich Peninsula out-of-town shops, where there is an Asda, a Matalan, a Next, an H&M, and a few other clothes shops. Should all be open till 8, I reckon. Am hoping to spend £50-£60 max. If all else fails I can go to Debenhams as I'll be in the vicinity on Sunday lunchtime, but TBH if I go to Debenhams I'll probably spend a small fortuneand shopping on Oxford Street on a weekend in December is tortuous.
- home for low-maintenance dinner
- draw up Christmas supermarket order
- learn music for show on Saturday week
- do as much prep as poss for tomorrow's party (paint nails, shave legs etc)

Afternoon
I have a MR fastbake too and cant praise it enough. It was bought as a pressie 2 years ago but really only started getting used properly over the past few months since ove come on hereOH uses it mainly for his pizza dough but have used for making bread too. I use either cheap value plain flour or part plain flour and the strong flour from Lidls. Always seems to be OK but I always personally find bread from BM very heavy. Bread doesnt go down with my tummy ATM, so stick mainly to lighter breads which are shop bought-sorry  Maybe Im doing it wrong..LOL.
Well, have just put on 3rd wash for today, but all bedding is washed and ready to be ironed for next cleaning day. Cleaner has been and house is lovely, fresh and sparkly, all bedding changed too.
OH has been farting around today basically doing nought but looking busy  never mind!
Have done the base for the shepards pie and just need OH to peel spuds and mash before putting in oven and sticking some veg on with it. Probably be runner beans and carrots (courtesy of Lidls half price ATM). Bought a smartprice oven dish for £1.99 a few weeks back which is plenty big enough for 4 good servings of shepards pie/toad in hole. Very easy to clean and never sticks-is excellent value for money-thanks Asda!!
Its our 12th wedding anniversary on Sunday (im only 31) and have arranged for SIL in look after DD for a couple of hrs and am gonna take OH to a localish pub as a treat and to let him know that although I hate him sometimes-I do love him too-occasionallyWe never go out and they do a wicked carvery and the most delish lamb stew/dumplings/mash and veg..scrummy. The prices are very good too: carvery £8 and the lamb stew £6 but is all fresh and tastes devine. I know im naughty, but am going to bung on credit card-should only be about £25 including all drinks (i dont drink) and OH will be driving-so not too heavy on the wallet either
Take care all
