Afternoon All,
Glad tosee everyone on such fine form
Had a successful shopping trip at Lakeside. Got 2 new pairs of Clarkes shoes for the kids total cost £22.00 down from £44.00. Xmas pressies in boots to the value of £73.97 for the grand total of £33.97 and got £10 in points too which, depending on your way of looking at it, means it really cost me £23.97 :j
Really helps as we had no money saved for pressies this year, MSE has been FAB at teaching me how to shop/where to shop wisely - THANKYOU!
Off to tidy now as DH cant multitask which means all he has done today is read the paper and the house looks like a bombs hit.
Chat later,

Afternoon Everyone!
Hope everyone has had a good or OK day.
Ive been napping on and off all day. Just so knackered and havent really done anything. Pain in the !!!!!! really, just have to get used to it as my illnesses aint going anywhere..LOL. The pain killers I think are making me abit drowsy too, but it does help the pain a little so cant moan.
In between naps though, have managed to make 3 calls that needed doing, balance the finances, 1 washload washed and dried, DW emptied but OH did this as I cant lift the plates and pans  , OH has hovered down stairs, tidied through downstairs.
Have cleaner coming tomorrow, so need to get all fresh bedding out for both bedrooms for her.
Lunch was 1/2 cheese/pickle roll. Dinner is 100% lamb steak, baked spud and beans.
See Ya

Thanks for a good laugh, Rzl and Math. Love it! Will be giggling all evening (but will my OH notice anything out of the ordinary? He's getting used to me giggling when I've been on here, remembering the funny things people say :snow_laug )

Hello everyone. I just need to test all these new smilies out. :rudolf: :xmastree: :xmassmile :xmassign: :snow_laug :snow_grin :santa2: Right! Got that out of my system!
I'm back from school now. I had a "drop-in" parents' consultation thing, except I only had 5 parents come to see me (class of 22 and 8 more during numeracy!). One father was really agressive, which wasn't nice. He doesn't think that his little angel is being pushed enough. How do you tell them that they're not the sharpest knife in the drawer and she's being pushed more than enough? Some children just don't want to learn, no matter what you do!
I had a whole afternoon of singing songs for the Christmas production. Grrrr. Hate, hate, hate. Bring back "Hark the Herald Angels Sing", all is forgiven!
I've just paid the renewal for the TV licence. OH is paying for our cottage in the Feb half term, so I get to pay for the tv. Fair deal, as far as I can see! :rotfl:
ancasta - I love the choice of music! Very romantic. I'm trying to decide what to have at our wedding. We're getting married in the church that I went to all my life - until I moved away from home. My favourite hymns are things like Jerusalem (bit too much "fighting" in it?), Guide Me Oh Thou Great Redeemer (bit too much like a Welsh rugby match?). Nothing too lovey-dovey................... Hmmmmm.
Anyway, OH is on his way home and is picking up fish and chips on his way. Whoopsy-daisy!

Had an ok day at work today, had some porridge before I went but did buy some things for lunch
.
Off to Tescos in a minute to do our weekly shop and will get something quick to have when we get back.
Put several things on Amazon last night and the University's small ads and sold one thing on there already - well selling it tomorrow - only £1 but another thing in the wedding ring fund.
Haven't decided on the hymns for our wedding yet - I like things like Shine Jesus Shine and Guide me oh thou Great Redeemer and I agree with VickyA not really wedding like songs - still got a while to decide.

The main thing that I want at my wedding is for people to have a good old sing.Nothing worse than people mumbling. It may well be a fighting hymn and a Welsh battle/rugby song! A couple of my friends had "We plough the fields and scatter" as their dads are farmers, like mine. Nothing about love in them at all (nothing about fighting, either!
)

I've got my wedding planner hat on today:xmassmile
For hymns I would suggest you pick what you like and what people will know. There is nothing worse than your guests mumbling cos they don't know the tune particularly if there is no choir present to lead the way.
A comon mistake is to thumb a hymnbook index and pick hymns with love in the title without a thought to whether anyone knows it or not or whether the text often speaking of Divine love ie God's love for us can be translated to describe human love and courtship and therfore is good to use at a wedding.
Two hymns I would avoid like the plague are All things bright and beautiful and the 23rd Psalm. Everyone who only attends church only for weddings and funerals picks them cos they are the two everyone knows but they are done to death and can give a hackneyed, run-of-the-mill, stale atmosphere (sadly, cos they are both great hymns). If you really like the 23rd psalm you could arrange for a soloist or choir to sing it to an alternative tune such as Brother James's Air which is much fresher.
Here is a website which lists loads of hymns (mainly old ones) ,tunes and alternative tunes which will be available in most hymnbooks and will play them for you with the text on screen so you can sing along (if you wish)
www.cyberhymnal.org
If you are used to singing a hymn to a certain tune and are marrying in an unfamiliar or little visited church do not asume they use the same tune. Anglican/Baptist/Methodist often use different tunes for certain hymns and a well-loved, well-used tune in one denomination may be unknown in another. HTHLife's a beach! Good Evening :hello:
Had a mishmash day - lots on the ToDo list - still lots on the ToDo's :rotfl: - one of those "2 steps forward and 1 back" kind of days LOL
On a high note though, picked up a pork joint (reduced to half price for quickie sale) ... on a low note, I'm salivating as it cooks off in the oven  (this could prove fatal to the waistline!) I shall be cooling it rapidly then slicing and freezing into portions - but that will do the boys and I for several Sunday's to come
Best news of the day?
D10yo told me: "You are a GREAT driver!"
D11yo: "Your face looks so beautiful and bright today!"
Were they hankering after anything? Nope!
Were they "guilty" of anything? Nope!!
It reminded me that the very best gifts are the one's money can't buy
Have a good evening ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
