Am cooking a small joint of lamb and roasted Mediterranean veggies (anything I could find in the fridge) for lunch due in 30 mins; we don't do desserts here unless it's a special occasion. Any lamb left over wll be chopped and frozen for stirfries or curries - last night's dinner was leftover defrosted beef and pineapple chop suey.

Have nagged stepdaughter (11) to do her homework (she sat up all night watching her Harry Potter DVDs). DH is lying on the sofa in his PJs watching some history programme and arguing with Barclaycard on the phone. They're both going to see his sister's new baby after lunch, so I'll stay here and tackle the mammoth laundry, file paperwork, and sort out clothes for the charity shop. Have also realised I have bags of spring bulbs I need to put in pots (oops!) so better do that while there's still daylight! Later I'll list the cupboard contents and plan the menus until Christmas and place an online order - will still need to do a Costco trip around the 19th.

The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

    Hi Joannasmum!

Ive been online searching for my xmas tree and I found the one I thought I wanted, its from Focus so I decided to go for a quick jaunt up there and take a look. Its lovely, so I bought it! Its half price too, supposed to be 99.99 but I got it 49.99, and its exactly what I wanted in my head, tall, (around 7 foot) and slim, and comes with a small tree for free. Awesome!

Ive been looking for some more decorations and im going to nip in to Next shortly to get the tree topper, and then I just need a few more bits (tinsel and what not). ive ordered some star shaped xmas lights too - which were free!! (at work we have a webiste which our bonus is paid into, which we can get cheap vouchers and various things with, so I spent my £50 on lovely lights (£13.50), and £35 of vouchers (bonusbond) that can be spent in loads of different places. ive already spent around £15 of those in my head though - earmarked for a set of coffee cups and saucers that match my plates etc that I bought last week). The other £20 ill probably spend on something else housey too.

Anyway, the boyf is awake and he's ill (bit of a hangover) so I must go tend to the sick and make food.

    Hello peeps

welcome to the newbies too and any lurkers out there - feel free to join us :)

Had a slow start to the day, but have got backside into gear now. 2nd load of washing is on, 1st load in TD. Wet and miserable here :( Beds stripped too. Got round to putting my dining room curtains back up, so just the last few free-standing photos to put back up and we'll be in business. The carpets all need shampooing but that can wait a week or so.

Got a minestone soup on the go at the moment and pork chops for tea. Just had poached egg on toast for lunch - haven't had it in ages. I've also done lots of little tidying/sorting jobs. You know the ones - take up your day but it doesn't look like you've done a flippin' thing at the end. :D

Right, soup needs stirring and cabbage due in, in a minute. Coffee is now finished and I'm going to do something constructive n the house, like clean the bathrooms. Boys have demolished DS1's room, playing, but at least they are being good and not gawping at the telly. (How long the mattress is going to hold up is another matter :D)

    Have a good day

ps I voted for Anton and Patsy to stay in SCD last night and they lost :( I seem to have been affected by "The Anton Effect" so will be having withdrawal symptoms. James may be gorgeous, but he can't dance like Anton.

    Afternoon everyone.

Sorry I'm late but I decided to get everything done before I got on the computer today. All the washing is done and drying. (4 loads) the house is tidied, the loo is cleaned. The uniforms are ironed for tomorrow and tea is cooking in the slow cooker. I have knitted about another 6 inches of blanket and we have all sat down and watched Harry Potter while eating home made popcorn (testing out the new popcorn machine which was a cash converter £3 bargain).

I have spent an absolute fortune over the past week which is unlike me but it is christmas and I have got so much to show for it after using all the codes and bargains found on this site. It's going to be a much better christmas than I expected.

Now does anyone know how I wrap a Fiat Tipo for my daughter for christmas :D

    Hi everyone

Well, it's been quite busy this weekend so far......... and I'm struggling to stay awake now. Got plenty of work to be doing, though.

We went to the pub on Friday night - where we used to live! Luckily, we were able to stay round a friend's house there, but still!

We got up early, did a mad dash back home then straight out again to go to a rugby match. Took OH's dad with us as it was his 60th birthday on Friday. Then back to OH's parents' house and out for a meal, which was very nice but very rich. Stayed over there last night.

Today, got up a bit later, but I'd been awake for some of the night suffering from a "too much rich food" stomach ache. Not indigestion, just a "feeling full" feeling. Not nice. Got back here and now I'm on here! I should be doing some planning.................. :)

I've got to take something out of the freezer for tonight's supper. Not a clue what to do, but I'll defrost whatever pot comes out first! :D

    I'd better go for now.

  • Afternoon

Got back from Earls court at 1'sh. It was heaving when we left but managed to back quite a few freebies and some vouchers. Saw Gordon Ramsey doing some cooking demonstrations-abit of a to**er if you ask me. The parking for 2.5hrs was £12.00  but had a nice drive there and back. Passed where I used to work uptown...I really miss it!!! Give me a few months and I'll be back again...LOL.

Anyways, gonna go as Im knackered.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Glad you had a good day PP. I went to the Good Food Show (not the festive one, like you) a couple of years ago and had a great day out. Even better because my work paid for my entry! I should never have left that company - NOT!

    Busy day so far.
Asda this morning(got up at 9.45 so it was a rush) and they still havent got their dvd recorders >(.Home to put shop away and make chicken soup. Then Costco to get a nice big ham and some xmas cheese and bics.We decided not to buy the huge tin of sweets as they are not really any cheaper than Asda and such a big tin makes you very greedy. I was in claires yesterday to get a 'hair contraption' for dd .Honestly if they put anymore stuff in that shop, noone would be able to get in to buy it.
There was a wizard walking up and down the street outside for no apparent reason. He even had a lantern though it was broad daylight. :D We were trying to guess what he was there for.OH said he had probably made a mistake whilst using Floo powder and thought he was in Diagon-ally :) OH is making a cake now for tea which will probably be sandwiches of some sort.

Better day than yesterday, havent seemed to have forgotten anything yet. OH making a lovely roast and i've made a lemon sponge for afters. very domesticated. Only one question, why would my sponge take on the look of a volcano, what did I do wrong? Have written to the local supermarkets asking for donations to the u7's xmas party and have battled with ds1 concerning his homework. Have changed the front room round in readiness for the tree and just need to decide when the big day will be. I will ponder that over a large glass of red. cheers
