Well the snow has almost gone now
I kinda miss it but it does mean that we can get out in the car properly! We are going to Canterbury today for a proper look around the sales, we shall be poping to our local Argos extra for a few things I have reserved.
We are going to a fancy dress party this evening, the theme is 1920's and we have to dress up. We are thinking of going as Bonny and Clyde so we need to look out for some costume ideas too.
I am making up a big veggie and pasta soup for dinner in the SC so that it is ready when we get home. We will also be taking some shop bought drink with us to the party, it saves on bar bills, usually we would be going to the pub and would spend a small fourtune.
Have a great day all and enjoy whatever plans you have for this evening.0 -

Some lovely posts. My eyes are filling.................
(And the OH is giving me a wierd look now!!)
Sending the 2 eldest to Nans soon for a bit of peace and quiet! And making the two youngest nap after lunch (Because I have decided that they really, really need it!!!!!)
Leaving me with a Hot Chocolate and a magazine for an hour! (This is Technically - reality?? HA!)
Baking was a disaster yesterday. Went to make Pizza and discovered someone has dropped my weighing scales and guess what? Everyone denys responsibility!! So the Pizza base was not quite right last night as I had to guess the flour.
However, the pastry was perfect for my pies so it was a 50/50 success!
Tonight is Chicken Tortillas with lots of salad and peppers! (I love these!!) And a bottle of bubbly (okay, CAVA). that I bought when Tescos had them on offer a few months ago!
So - to add my tuppence worth. Thanks guys. I am glad I found this place this year. Its great that I can ask for advice and sound off in the same place without anyone telling me I am daft! And if 2006 does to out to be as harsh as 2004/5, then I know I can come here for a chill out, a coffee and shoulder or 20 (!) to cry on!
Have a great evening - and a great 2006!!!!0 -
This has been a very mixed year for us, deciding to junk our credit cards except for the Tesco one we use for shopping and pay off in full each month. Having to pay out so much on our car which resulted in us going away for 10 days instead of 3 weeks and then us having to sell the caravan because we could no longer afford to run it.
My health has suffered a bit too with a virus in February and then that awful virus/cold which laid me low for most of November and December and causing us to cancel out trip to France, although looking at the weather this last few days we might have had a job to get back!!!!
I have done the budget as far as I can for 2006, do not know what our pension rises will be will have to wait until April for that, but hopefully will manage to keep our heads above water.........
In the mean time, I hope 2006 is a healthy happy and propserous new year for you all, keep up the OS........and thank you for all the tips on the various MMS boards.....

Afternoon!
Only woke up about 11am... didnt fall asleep till 4am though...In true "johanne" fashion... i fell on the stairs last night while attempting to go the bathroom in the early hours... luckily i kinda fell "up" themratheer than down.. as i have a sharp doorframe, nule post and radiator at the bottom and it so could have been alot worse!!! But i bashed my bad knee - which is now swollen to twice its usual size..... twisted my ankle which is also now twice its usual size........i think ive badly bruised my toes (which snapped underneath me! ouch!) as i cant feel most of them and they are all swollen and where i have feeling in them its VERY painful! And i bumped my head .... and grazed my nose on the carpet! (Landlord fitted cheap really thin and rough office carpet instead of nice stuff) Soooooooooooo in floods of tears and shaking with shock i rang my mums house at 1:30am!!!
I was just soooo upset cos apart from being in immense pain and unable to walk properly.... to be honest i was thinking.... oh my god! Im alone.. and if id knocked myself out no one would know!! My house phone was connected to the net so no-one could get through... my mobile was dead...... my front door all locked up with 2 locks 2 bolts and a chain so no-one could get in.... no-one would see me as the front door is a big solid wood one with a vestibule behind so you cant see through into the hallway from....and id accidentlally left my curtains open and all my lights were off except hall so my neighbours and probably family would have just thought id gone to a friends house to stay or gone out as i never leave my living room curtains open at night if im in but i do leave landing light on if im out sometimes.... So i got all scared that i might have lay here for hours alone unable to do anything.. or might have even died or something (being dramatic!) and no-one would know! Specially after that story of the poor mum falling out the loft at xmas! Sometimes living alone is scary!
Anyway now ive rambled on.....i'll move onto the more OS aspect of today which is going up to my mums later to spend new years in with her and my lil bro (and dad - which should be fun as im not wanting to see him at the min - buts thats another long boring story!) I cant do much else as i can hardly walk!!! Cant put any weight on my leg.. and its all strapped up... and i have a slightly swollen nose! So good job im not putting on my glad rags and hitting the town tonight like most normal 20 yr old girls eh?? Id look a right picture! But a night in with my family and maybe a snowball cocktail or two sounds ok.
On a plus note.. mr postman brought NICE things today got my identification documents for my ING account back... only posted them thursday afternoon! Great service!! And 2 DVDS from screenselect - again i only posted my others back thurs afternoon! And to make it better these are 2 "Escape to river cottage" ones!! So yay!!!! Wanted to see that series but never got the chance and have heard fab things about it.
Hope everyone has a fab night..... and roll on midnight... next year SURELY cant be as bad as 2005 has been - can it???0 -

I thoroughly reccommend Hugh F-W to cheer you up -though he makes me feel a bit discontented with my suburban lot.Hope 2006 is better for you than 2005.0 -

Hi everyone :hello:
johanne - sorry to hear that you've had such a rotten time.
I hope that everyone will have a very happy new year. OH and I are off to Essex, where a group of my uni friends are this year. There are three of us (and partners) who always seem to get together for new year, and another two (and partners) that float in and out of the scene as desired. We meet up in the middle of the year at a wedding, but in 2006 we'll all have been married off!
Last night, OH and I went out for a curry. Not very moneysaving, but we'd been given £20 by my gran to go out for a meal. With her rapid memory loss, she forgot that she'd given us a Christmas present so my dad told me that we HAD to use this money on a meal. We also got to sample a couple of the local pubs - one which was like a youth club (ok, so everyone was about 18/19) and the other had a far higher average age!
This morning OH decided that he'd go for a ride on his bike around a local forest, thinking that it would be like Thetford Forest, where he used to go when we lived in Cambridgeshire. He returned pretty quickly, having found that it was ideal for small children on their bikes, but not for "serious" mountain bikers, or people wanting a little more of a challenge.
OH is now ironingwhilst I do some planning (and carefully scan MSE) for my new school.
breakfast: satsumas
lunch: boiled eggs and toast
Supper: not sure, but we're taking cheese biscuits and port as our contribution.
Have a good NYE everyone!

Afternoon!
Ive been kind of jobhunting since I got back from work, more like course hunting though as ive decided to stay in finance but get qualified in somthing more interesting so I can then either move to another company or stay but not have my awful boss on my case!
Anyway, it transpires that since the car was a total pain in the butt, I cant actually afford to order the stuff I need to start the course so ive got to wait till the end of Jan when I get paid to order the goddam things. At least it will give me time to get everything else sorted and have a meeting with boss to tell her my intentions and see if there is any way of getting work to fund it in some way, or at least help, and if not, it shows me they lied in my interview about being supportive and wanting to help staff succeed.
Work was a nightmare today, it was massively busy and full of the usual imbeciles who walk in the door at 1min before closing and expect me to sit there for 20 minutes sorting out their problems when a) they could have done it all themselves and b) its thier fault in the first place. When will most of the general public realise that staff have a life too! AARGGHH. Glad its over though, I was working in the branch I hate today so that had a lot to do with it. I didnt end up leaving till 12.30.
Anyway, at least i now have a couple of days to get everything organised, Ive got mount everest that is a laundry, mount kilimanjaro that is misc and paperwork, and ben nevis of cleaning. Should keep me busy!
must dash anyway as the boyf is whingeing about being hungry - I think I should send him on a cookery course or something as he drives me nuts!
