well im not sure what im doing today yet!!! feel all slobby if you know what i mean.....house isnt too bad so may just leave the kids in their jammies and have a snuggly and play day with them.
i know tea is soup and tiger rolls to start (5p and 10p from reduced cabinet out of freezer)pork chops riminade with fanned roast potatoes for main course and a trifle for desert as thats what dh informed me he was cooking tonight and we would have a romantic meal.

  • 1 washload done and will get OH to hang over airer once he's up  DW half empty so will be put on by lunch. Toilet cleaned. Still clean and tidy from cleaner being here yesterday.

Have friends coming for a light lunch & coffee for a couple of hours, but just having rolls with ham, cheese etc and salad. Made some cherry scones and bought some clotted cream from M&S :p

Have BIL/SIL coming for tea with there 2 kids later. Am doing Roast Lamb & Chicken, stuffing, roast spuds, new pots, peas, carrots, sprouts, HM yorkies and gravy. Pudding is either gateaux or HM trifle. Have bought some booze but they will bring loads too, so hopefully there will be loads left and save buying beers for the OH for a few weeks

Out treat take-away was lovely last night. We decided on chineese in the end and had loads of different stuff and DD stuffed her face-she loves chineese food. Have it as a treat once every 6 months or so, but as we werent paying last night it tasted better ;)

    Breakie:Cereal and fruit salad
Lunch: Rolls with either ham, cheese & salad
    Dinner:Roast

Not feeling too good today. I get very depressed this time of year, so thought if I keep myself busy it will help. Will be knackered tomorrow, but will be worth it.

Also, my stairlift is being fitted in January :j something to look forward too.

    Morning!

The last day of this sorry year, and ill be glad to see its butt walking out of the door this evening. Roll on 2006!

Im working 9-12 today and boyf is driving me there. I can see the postie walking up to my door, hopefully he wil bring me a big cheque, that would be nice! I insured the cat last night with Marks & Spencer and im pleased with the policy as its really good, and the price is only £5.45 per month, bargain!

I intend to finalise the budget this afternoon, do all the the last little jobs, and do a spring clean so its all ready for the new year. On that note, im off to do a quick bit of research on a job im interested in to enthuse myself about working. Hope you all have a lovely day, and that 2006 brings us all a year of happiness and debt free-ness.

  • Good Morning,
well it's the last day of 2005, and tomorrow is the start of a brand new year.
Today is a time to look back and see how well, or not, you have done over the past 12 months. I am debt -free thank goodness. The good things have been, all of my seven grandchildren have grown like weeds and thankfully are healthy. I have been to lots of different places and seen some many different things. I went to Holland for a few days and thoroughly enjjoyed it. I went on the big wheel in London and was suitably gob-smacked .I passed my History GCSE, and I went to a pop concert with my youngest daughter and saw U2.
The thing that sticks most in my mind for this year is going to the Royal Albert Hall with my two nephews, and seeing the Rememberance service. It is a memory that will stay in my mind for ever.
I have learnt that it is the sometimes small things in life that you remember more than the big.
One of my small grandsons who is 4 1/2 started school, and was so proud that he sat on his front doorstep, and looking up to the sky said
'Granddad, I'm a big boy now I have a proper big boys school jumper and it's blue':
I lost my husband in July 2003 but he always remembers to tell his Granddad what he has been doing. If he has been naughty ,or told off for some reason he will always say, 'I'm going to talk to Granddad' and march out into the garden.
He is a lovely little boy, and like his brothers and sister a great comfort to me.
A whole year has gone by and along with the good came the bad,but that is what life is about really. When I read on this site some of the folks worries, and how they hope to expedite them, I can see that so many folk on here are really helping each other .The helpful tips and hints, and how people really want to help is a sign that all is not lost in this busy commercial world of ours. I have a great belief in the inate goodness in folk, and how it doesn't take a lot to bring it out .
I had a nasty fall a few weeks ago and luckily have got over it ,but the amount of good wishes from total strangers on here was very cheering
So thank you all you lovely people and Have a Happy and Peaceful New Year, and may all your problems lessen by this time next year
    God Bless you all

    Morning all
Havent had time to post for awhile. Sorted out the larder cupboard yesterday so doing the fridge and freezer today so I've got a complete inventory then. Apart from that got 1 washload to do and TD the nappies that were washed overnight. Got to go and see in-laws today and explain that we are going to my dads tomorrow for a meal. FIL is bound to sulk dispite the fact that that we go to theres every other Sunday of the year including Xmas day this year, anyway that my rant over.

Making a CQ curry for tea tonight then we have got a bottle of champagne that DH was given as a xmas present might push the boat out and make some sort of dessert will have to consult the inventory to see what I've got in certainly not going near a supermarket today

    Have a good day everyone
    And Happy New Year
Sorting my life out one day at a time
  • Morning everyone :hello:

Jackie - what a lovely post and yes, it is always better to see the good in what you have, even though that's not always easy.

2005 hasn't been a good year for me, all in all. Most of it was spent helping care for my dad, who died in Spetember, followed by my uncle 4 weeks later and then a couple of weeks ago by a close friend of Mr TM's. However, I still have my mum. I also give thanks that I have 2 happy and healthy boys. Overall, we have quite a good lifestyle, even though I wish I could persuade Mr TM that the coffers are running on empty

Today, having got up late, I shall be going over to mum's. She's quite depressed today, moaning about the fact that since everyone came at Xmas, she can't switch her pc on, there's too much laundry and the house still looks like a bomb's hit it. She has to learn that I do these things for her or she'll make herself really ill. Also, her version of 'house looks like a bomb's hit it' is on a par with my house and 'it's been cleaned but needs a quick vac today' :D I need to have a word with her - she won't phone me when she needs something, just waits until I call (which I do most days but often she's popped out with a friend. She deffo has a more active social life than me:))

Other than that, I shall 'suggest' to Mr TM that he can clean this house today. Shock, horror, but they are his kids too :D This evening will be spent on here or in front of the tv. Can't be doing with NYE really and would actually like to be tucked up in bed if I'm tired. I hate feeling as if I HAVE to stay up till 12, to say happy new year then go straight to bed. (God, I'm such an old misery-puss, aren't I? :))

    b - cereal
    d - sarnies
t - sliced roast beef (from freezer), mash and veg.

Oh, must get that huge leg of lamb out of the freezer today too, so mum can come for dinner tomorrow.

Have a good day, one and all.

    TM
  • Morning all, and a very happy OLD year! (Will say happy NEW year tomorrow :D)

P-P - thanks for your nice positive message, I hope 2006 is a better year for you than 2005 has been, and I hope we can meet up soon for a cup of tea :D

johanne - I hope you are feeling OK about things today :grouphug:

After 3 days at my mum's in snowy Durham, I'm preparing to head back down south this afternoon - and am not looking forward to navigating the New Year's Eve party crowds DURING a tube strike in order to get back from King's Cross to London Bridge to catch my train home. The Thameslink could be my saviour, cos otherwise it'll have to be a taxi which is a little extravagant for my liking...

I've been a total slob this week, and as I sit here writing to you, am still in my dressing gown :o - I'll have to get up on time tomorrow to get to church choir. In fact I'll have to get up a little earlier than normal because of the tube strike. Then tomorrow afternoon I'm going to a matinee of The Barber of Seville at the Royal Opera House.

Monday will be one final day of slobbery :o before going back to work on Tuesday :( - mind you, there are things I probably should be getting on with - perhaps an HM fish pie with the nice piece of reduced plaice currently in my freezer? Last fish pie effort was delicious.

I've nearly sorted out my budget for 2006. I say nearly because I need to find another £5.50 a month of what Martin would call "pain free savings" in order to have a nice healthy round number going into my savings account each month. I don't want to make actual cutbacks to my luxuries, on the grounds that I like to know that if I was out of work for a bit or my living costs were to increase, there are still areas of my budget where I KNOW I could find an extra £100+ a month. So far my pain free savings have consisted of shaving small amounts off budget pots here and there. I just need to work out which pot(s) can still take a little more tightening.

    In 2005...

...I got back together with my lovely boyfriend having been dithering about it since we broke up in December '03 :D

...I discovered MSE and (especially) Old Style :D

...I have had 1 promotion (big mistake) and 1 routine pay rise, and put every single penny of both directly into my savings :D

    In 2006...

...my New Year's resolutions will be to find a new job (number one priority!), and keep regular hours sleep-wise. Plus the usual resolutions of eating less, drinking less alcohol and exercising more. I would like to get down from 12st to 10st 7lb BUT quite like being my current dress size (14) so will see how it goes. Will NOT be joining a gym this time though! Much more MSE to go for plenty of brisk walks in our local (big and lovely) park. P.S. I decided a couple of years ago that NYR's shouldn't kick in until the day I go back to work after the Christmas/New Year break - otherwise I don't stand a chance of sticking to them, with all that yummy food and drink still in the fridge!

Right. Must go and get dressed...
