good evening all
well, DS3 and DD are tucked up in bed. DS1 & 2 and me have just polished off a rather yummy pesto and bacon creamy pasta (a fav in my house) and i am now washing it down with a redbull!
washing is on and will be hung on 2 airers overnight to dry and yesterdays wash will shortly be taken off the airers, folded and put away. critters have been fed and chickens are tucked away for the night and i have a relaxing evening planned on here lol (maybe with a baileys later!)
washing up is nearly all done (no DW im afraid) and rubbish and recycling put out in respective bins!! i feel quite calm lol
roast beef joint defrosting for dinner tomorrow (sorry guys ive got no lamb lol), and a portion of the HM mushroom soup i made today is in the fridge for lunch tomorrow (rest has been frozen).

Hi all,
I am another lurker (feel like a voyeur at times!) Just would like to wish you all a Happy New Year (or Blwyddyn Newydd Dda where I come from).
I love reading the OS threads and am learning loads- my dream is a smallholding somewhere and no payroll job - many years away but who knows? Thanks for your honesty and inspiration.
Wishing you everything you wish for yourselves and MORE!
love Sparkly0 -
Yes, a very Happy New Year from me too! I don't post all that often but I really appreciate all the help and advice on this site, particularly the OS threads. Have managed the breadmaking, meal planning and slow cooking so far, hopefully next year will make a start on chipping away at the mountain of debt
Am just about to go and shower and dress for neighbours' New Year's Party so have a good one, everyone! See you next year! FF0 -
Just wanted to say Happy New Year to everyone. I have found this site invaluable in the last few months for all the information & help I have gained, thanks to one & all.
Yesterday I finally admitted defeat & used the wheelchair to go out shopping with DH (I was surprised how much easier it made things & even managed a laugh :rotfl: when DH acclerated rather rapidly without warning  -we really will have to work on the communication). It was a learning curve for both of us, but it will improve. Bath board ordered by OT dept at hospital arrived yesterday too, so hopefully can now shower when DH isn't here without too much hassle. Also Monday have got someone coming in to give us a quote for altering the bathroom to make it more user friendly for me.
Anyway will sign off now as going to bed to see the New Year in as DH is at work tonight & tomorrow night - then thankfully back to days for a while.
Thanks again everyone for all the help. Hope everyones year ahead is better than the last!

Haven't been on for about a week - Couldn't really sit on laptop at Christmas in other people's house and then didn't bother setting my laptop up to go on the internet at my parents. Got back home yesterday - drove nearly 300 miles in rain and fog etc not great but we're spending some nice time together this weekend and I'm all relatived out - 2 sets of parents, 2 siblings, 4 grandparents, 3 aunts/uncles, 3 cousins (+1 OH) and several family friends - so we're having a night in tonight and being anti social I'm afraid so will be seeing the new year in together and thought I'd spend some time catching up on here.
Yesterday had a takeaway when we got in  but did walk up to collect it. We sorted through pressies and other stuff we bought back - luckily my family took notice of the useful and edible presents please so some clothes, a couple of books and some sweets, biscuits etc nothing that takes up too much room - wish OHs parents could be said to have thought the same the pile of stuff we don't know what to do it are about 5 things from them
Anyway also listed 12 books etc I picked up from parents house on Amazon - some are mine some are their's but all unwanted so hopefully will do well with them :money:
Also had a nice bath as I was tired from all that driving.
Today we've done 2 loads of washing - can't do anymore as the airer is currently full - but might put the tshirts in the TD in a minute to finish off the drying.
Went to Sainsburys which is next to the retail park and the car park was totally jammed with people parking for the retail park - but managed to get all the food we wanted to last us a few days and got out in one piece - just took a long way back.
Have been sorting some paper work this afternoon - emptied another box in the spare room then catching up with 4 pages on here - and that's just OS will check the amazon thread and that'll have to be it I think must do something else soon.
Breakfast was a couple of biscuits - oops
Lunch was some part baked bread and butter (properly baked obviously)
Dinner was jacket spud, chicken bits and salad.
Hope everyone has a great evening and has a great 2006 - this site has been such an inspiration to me over the past few months and hope everyone has a happy, healthy and safe 2006. :grouphug:Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

Just want to add my note to everyone elses - I don't really join in this thread often because nothing noteworthy ever happens chez apprentice - but I read them each day.
I've really enjoyed MSE since I joined properly in April this year but I want to say a particulary big thank you to all the OSers, you've validated some of my tight ar$$ed ideas and given me loads more that I wouldn't have thought of in my wildest dreams (or is it my worst nightmares?)
I think that Squeaky deserves the biggest thanks of all, nothing is too much trouble for him and this board wouldn't be the same without his imput.0
