Hi Yall, Today is Mrs MATH's birthday. I shall not reveal her age because there is no way for knowing for sure just how old she is because all her documentation was lost in the sinking of the Titanic:rudolf:
We've been out today with the MATHLETTS and some friends for lunch. All eight of us ate at Pizza Hut for £35 now that's what I call a bargain. We then had a potter around MFI and TilesRus before popping into Laura Ashley to sneer at the prices tags;)
A quite night tonight once the kidz are in bed. Mrs MATH will probably slope off to bed early. The telly's !!!!!! so I shall probably curl up with me book and a bag of salted peanuts.
I've got a leg of lamb defrosting for tomorrow (I'm sure we were seperated at birth TM):snow_grin and I plan to take down the Christmas Tree after Church cos I'm sick of the sight of it and want to put Christmas behind me.
Happy New Year to all Ol'Stylers and many thanks for all your hints, tips, laughs and sympathy throughout the year. It can sometimes be a solitary life as a stay at home whatever but not when your Ol'Style pals are out to play.
Those who have had a good 2005 I wish you continued good fortune. Those who have had difficult times I wish better ones ahead.
See ya next year.

I'm filling up reading all the messages. Johanne, I hope your leg and other bits are not too painful, you seem to have had an awful time lately. Things can only get better!!
I've had a very lazy boring week, arthritis has been bad and I couldn't go out because of the snow and ice. I managed to get to Sainsbury's yesterday afternoon and picked up lots of lovely bargains, some organic beef, pork and sausages, all reduced, sausage rolls 20p a pack and cornish pasties 10p each which will do for MrW's lunches. I also got some very posh chocolate biccy type things which were half price and will keep until March for my birthday party. I have a very big birthday in 2006!
We went out today and I got more bargains in Wilkinson's and WH Smith.
We are not doing anything special tonight, we were invited out but we have problems with the dog, he is scared of fireworks and has to be doped up on Valium, so we can't leave him. If I manage to stay awake we will probably drink a toast with our neighbours, we usually all end up in the street. I shall toast them with fizzy water, I can't have alcohol with the tablets I take.
It hasn't been a bad year, we had a few problems in the last couple of months because MrW lost his job and there is not much hope of another one, he is nearly 63 and because I need a lot of help he decided to retire. It was bit of a nightmare sorting out the finances and it's not easy getting used to him being around all day, but things are improving now.
I'm hoping for an uneventful 2006, just to plod on as we are. I don't expect my health will improve but I have to go to the hospital on Tuesday and hopefully they will change my medication and I think I shall finally admit defeat and get a wheelchair.
Oh! I don't mean to sound miserable, I am very lucky really and truely appreciate what I have.
I hope everyone who is celebrating has a great time, stay safe and enjoy.
A very happy, peaceful and money saving new year to all.0 -

and it's going to be icebergs for you if she sees that...... :snow_laug thanks for the info you sent me by the way - i have signed up.
OH is downstairs demolishing the kitchen with the aim of making a chilli for tonight. we've been to the local pub for one before so we avoid the crowds. I collected by won DVD today and when I asked at the pet shop how much they'd raised for the Cats Protection League was stunned when they said they sold 15 tickets - no wonder I've won a diary for 5th prize as well. I said that i felt really guilty winning then and they all told me not t obe daft as I'm a regular. The owner also gave the charity about £50 as well - well he'd have to really for shame........ i may also donate a little more to them as well as i feel really sorry for them not raising a lot. tonight i will also have to make the first half of the trifle for holiday monday. tomorrow is chicken in a madeira sauce (oooo get me!) which we bought when they had a promotion in tesco and probably the last christmas pudding (until OH buys a load of them cheap in Asda next week along with the wrapping paper he's been instructed to buy when I found out they were selling off 8m rolls for 80p each!).
I would also like to wish everyone a really peaceful and happy new year's eve and a healthy, happy and PROSPEROUS 2006!!!!!!

Hello everyone. :santa2: .
& HAPPY BIRTHDAY MRS MATH:j
This year has been good for us. We used up a windfall on getting some (though not all) of the house done up.I found out about a free course with free creche facilities, and passed my 1st level WP. Ialso found a small part-time job. We went on a dream holiday to celebrate Mr Spendless 40th birthday.
2006 is a year of change for us. I have given up my job in favour of returning to college 3 days a week come January. DD is going to a local nursery. Financially it's going to be a tough few months, till she turns 3 and we get help, but I'm determined we can do it. Without finding this site and discovering what financial changes we could make, and I still have several to implement, what I am about to do, just wouldn't have been an option.
Happy New Year Everyone

Hi everyone. I read the OS day thread every single day, but never post so thought I'd take the opportunity now
I discovered MSE earlier this year and OS quite recently, and it's all been a revelation. For me, this has been the year of hunting for online grocery shopping codes and becoming more savvy about my budget in general. I've now resigned from job after having my 3rd baby earlier this year, so money is going to be much tighter in 2006 - expect to see more of me on the OS board!
2006 gets off to a good start as we've a few days at Centerparcs to look forward to in a couple of weeks time - we wouldn't have been unable to afford it if it hadn't have been for dh's holiday rota week coinciding with some £50 discounts that Centerparcs were offering :rudolf:
2005 has had it's ups and downs for me - highlights would be having my 3rd (and final!) baby in March, a great holiday in Norfolk in June, Christmas being just perfect. Downsides would be being unlucky enough to suffer from post-natal depression for a 3rd time, ds being diagnosed with ASD and also him starting school (I miss him terribly during the daytime), and our car blowing up in July!
I look forward to getting to know you all a bit better this coming year, Happy New Year!

Dh also fell on the stairs Johanne - it was on Boxing Day and he still has a sore arm and is walking differently as he hurt his leg as well.

Happy New Year to everyone and for those in bad health - I hope things improve in 2006."This site is addictive!"
