Good luck for DS 11+ Queenie.
Hope all poorly people feel better soon.
Today I am off from work again, so am determined to spend at least 3 hours making notes and studying for my intended new career as I hopefully may have an interview in a month or 2 to get on the course and I feel totally unprepared.
No cleaning needs to be done, I cleaned bathroom yesterday, OH did kitchen and living room now we've taken tree and decs down.
Tonight I have my slimming group, but not doing a full class tonight, just a weigh in. So as soon as it's finished I will go to babysit for someone for a couple of hours.
Have a bubble bath running as I type, am hoping in will get me in a positive frame of mind to start studying and making notes!
Have a good day, SarahYesterday is today's memories, tomorrow is today's dreams0 -
I had a 30 min lay-in this morning!!!
Did a tesco run yesterday and overspent by £20!!!!!!! BUT I did have to buy a few extra bits I hadn't budgetted for and they did have some meat reduced, so tecnically, next weeks bill should be a little less.
WM going (again and not surprised), but today is bedding day, so it will be on all day again! Poor thing!
Friend is leaving today so back to a bit of peace and quiet! And nothing else doing really.
Doing some baking this afternoon when she has gone - like the sweets that we didin't get round to last week cos the kitchen cupboard fell off the wall!
And thats about the extent of my really busy day!!!0 -
And QUEENIE - My DD3 did her 11+ in November and the results were passed out in March. All the schools around here do theirs at the same time.
Although, you have to apply to the grammar schools directly because its not automatic entry to the exams here.0 -
Hello everybody - nice to see so many familiar names on here. At work - nothing to do (again, like yesterday). Am about to write my letter to the business manager saying that I am not prepared to drop any hours (they are putting pressure on me to drop 2.5 hrs per week) - I simply can't afford it what with hubby now working part-time at Asda as his business is gonig pear-shaped. Besides, this is only coming about because the newest GP wants us to close on a Wed p.m. so she can have half a day off and go part-time so everyone else has to move their hours - sorry, getting into rant mode there. Well, I was employed on a 32.5 hours per week contract and that's what I'll be doing....... Hubby is out somewhere in Yorkshire today fixing somebody's underfloor heating which isn't working - this is one of the reasons he's thinking of jacking it in. The R'n'D guys have been no help what-=so-ever at the manufacturer's so he's finding out that the product is not as good as they claimed!!! Then he will be working no doubt until mid-evening stacking shelves at Asda. Finally calmed down after my freak out yesterday when I did the math and realised that after paying all the bills/mortgage/etc. we have £19.76 per week to live on - mainly because the freezer is full so that made me feel a lot better :snow_grin SO - sausage, mash, carrots and sprouts tonight for dinner - I will do them all in the oven thus making gorgeous sausage gravy and if I have a spare shelf I shall make a pineapple upside down pudding to have with ice-cream as he needs cheering up. This weekend I will be having a mega-plan on food budgetting - I feel a lot of pulses and pasta coming on........... well, guess I'd better go and start entering those on-line competitions if we want a holiday next year!!! :santa2:But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0

Sorry Queenie-easily muddled today  . We're in London and she took them in November. Will get her results March 1st, dont know how she'll do but our local comp schools are rubbish.
CQ-Hope the move has gone ok and that you will be much happier in your new home hun.
Just sent OH out to get airer and use £5 nectar vouchers, so will only cost me £6. DW on and everything set straight from last night. 4 bottles of wine drank and I didnt have a drop  took 45mins to get the cab  never mind it was a lovely evening.
OH & I have both been offered jobs working from home whenever we want (not ATM as Im too rough) but it has given me something to think about. Salaries offered were excellent too  maybe in the next 12 months or so we will consider further, but is nice to know that friends/people still see me as a human being rather than a crip..LOL. Its still old little me, but now come with either crutches or wheelchair
Anyways, promised DD id watch a film with her. Also, received 4 Xbox games I ordered from Game this morning for 98p each, so 4 for £5.50 inc postage-1 for OH and the other 3 for pressies next year. Received also, 8 DVD's from woolworths in the sale and they worked out to £3 each including postage and were excellent films/classics-some of those are going in pressy box too. So have all pressies for 2006 sorted maybe more :j
Have a great day.

Hi all :xmassmile
CQ - I hope that the move went well and you're now settled in.
PP - oooh, I'm coming round to your house for tea. Sounds like a lovely spread you had on.
JD - happy birthday to your DS!
johanne - I do hope that you're feeling better.
Well, it looks like it's a bit slippy outside but according to OH it's fine once you get off our estate/development. I need to make that trip to Tesco that I didn't make yesterday, which will be nice as in the same centre there's a Next, Boots, GAP, H&M etc etc. Lethal though. I've ordered some stuff from the Boots website, but I need presents for people that I'm seeing at the weekend for New Year.
I'm really pleased with OH - he hasn't turned the thermostat up since I turned it down the other day (from "boiling" to "warm"). I received a gas bill and couldn't believe how much they were charging us . Evidently my banging on about how expensive it was - not too bad in comparison to our old house - got through to him. He's now getting very energy conscious due to the oil reserves rapidly running out, we're also recycling more and buying more "locally" than we used to. Doesn't help that he works for a company that at this time of year grows their crops in Spain, thus we can get cheaper salad and veg items that aren't necessarily "in season" over here. Sort of a double-edged sword.
WM is on. Ironing needs doing (as ever!) - though will try to do that this afternoon in front of MMR!
breakfast: cereal & milk
lunch: pate/parma ham (from mum) and toast
supper: steamed salmon, sauce, new pots and steamed veg
See you later. I don't want to be too lazy today  unlike yesterday when OH came home and asked me what I'd done, I could only tell him that I'd been on here AND watched MMR.

Morning everyone, better nights sleep last night but as so often happens feel worse today than I did yesterday.
OH off to the allotment with SS to take up slabs and wood, I am going to do a freezer audit , found a £10 of £75 shop at Tesco, which will pay the delivery charge so I am going to do the bulk of my shopping on line. We are going to the library this afternoon so will nip into Tesco and get the bits I like to coose myself.... i.e. cheese, will also look and see what they have on the reduced shelves (if anything). I know the freezer is very low, we have lots of fruit, so last night mad a big dish of raspberries in jelly, it will give is a sweet after supper for at least 3 nights, I them plan to do an apple tayberry and gooseberry crumble on Sunday which will also last 3 days.
Right I am off, its coffee time, will have to make it myself as OH is out.
Hope evrything went well with the move CQ, come back to us soon.

Hiya everyone :hello:
(((hugs)))to all of you feeling ill, generally down or just plain p!ssed off :snow_grin
Had a lie in this morning, but couldn't get back to sleep. DS's were playing and had their voices turned up to max. When Mr TM has a lie in, I keep them quiet and shut doors. Me - oh no, no thought in that department
Anyway, just had tea and toast for brekkie. Annoyed because having made another load 2 days ago because we weren't going to have enough, when I went to brea bag, there's 1/2 of the newer one eaten and still 1/2 of the older one. Grrrrr. I expect I'll be making everyone eat toast for lunch, with soup or beans/eggsAnd thanks for the reminder about the prawns - I also have some defrosted prawns in the fridge so best get those eaten today too. (MMmmmm - prawn c0cktail and toast anyone:)
Did loads of ironing last night, but need to whip the vac round again today and still more washing to do. May invite some friends over this aft and evening - they have 2 boys same age as mine. Will have to concoct some veggie dishes for her - but his won't be a problem. In fact, must remember to get her recipe for veg lasagne - it's the best I've ever tasted.
May take the bike out again later - I knew the gear problem would be easily sorted when someone showed meWhat worries me is that as I was stuck in 1st, I couldn't even get up some of the hills, and the bike weighs about 3 gms
Must be a tad unfit but at least I can use that as a marker for fitness - how long and in what gear I can do certain hills.
Charlotte - your sig made me laugh. Last night, while I was preparing tea, Mr TM and DS1 (6) were play fighting and out of the blue I heard DS1 shout "bring it on, old man" at his dad. I just collapsed laughing :snow_laug
Anyway, off to shower and wash hair and do whatever I feel like. BTW - got my MSN working again, for those who fancy a chat.

Hi everyone! Still on holiday here so I have time to come on MSE and browse
DS will be back from Dad's later so I have a day to myself. WM is already on and guinea pigs need cleaning out which is my next job after my coffee :coffee: I also want to get out to Aldi as I believe they have some super ski things on offer at the moment. We are going skiing for the first time in January and DS needs ski socks and thermals.
Other jobs on the list include listing some things on ebay and attacking the ironing pile. Maybe I will leave that until Martin is on later!
Right-o must get busy!
See you all later.Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

Morning all,
Really crisp here this morning ....well ok then down right freezing. We've had the heating on constant for 4 days and nights now because of the snow - such an old bungalow that we dare not let the pipes start to freeze, it's actually at a nice temperature tho as the rads in the bedrooms are really low, we're all still walking around in thick jumpers and thick socks so it's not feeling tropical.
Been out in the garden to make a :snow_grin with DD's this morning - had a great snowball fight too - I seemed to come of worse for it with snow all down my wellies and back.....blugghhh - refreshing tho! :snow_laug
We had a lovely gammon and veg soup last night, added some cream at the end and loads of veg from the freezer that DD's don't normally eat....blittzed it all up until it was smooth and they both asked for seconds......froze 2 huge portions down too. Made a pizza dough to go with it, sprinkled it with cheese and herbs and baked it for 30 mins....it made a gorgeous dunking bread, not to fluffy but very tasty.
Tonight will be quiche, I've got half a pack of streaky bacon and some cherry toms that need using up, I'll make a big one and it will do lunch tomorrow. Will serve it tonight with spicy wedges (what ever spices leap to hand first) and steamed veg. Lunch will be beans on toast for DD's and I'll stick to fruit.
WM is on, DW is empty and all is put away. Hoovered and dusted all through, bathroom is as clean as it's getting today and the ironing pile is about to be attacked whilst watching a dvd.
Not been near a shop since sunday 18th December..how good is that!!! There's nothing I need in the sales, got plenty of paper and cards left for next year and we don't need any clothes. I've still got a few bits left in the pressie box to cover DD's friends birthday parties and I've got about 6 boxes of choccies with good sell by dates on to use for adult birthdays and easter. Feeling quite virtuous really....I'm sure it won't last.
Have a wonderful day all."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0
