    Merry Christmas everyone!

Turkey turned out beautifully but I didn't get the gammon cooked or the sausagemeat stuffing made as Xdh turned up at 12 and I got in a right mess after that :(

DH went off to bed straight after lunch ready to go to work tonight and DD1 disappeared into her room leaving me to clean up too, refusing to wake up even when DS tried to wake her so I am getting my revenge and not trying again and she is supposed to be going out at 6pm :D

    Merry Christmas Everybody!

Had lovely Midnight Mass last night at church, and me and our organist were put up overnight by our priest. We got well looked after, with a nightcap, a cooked breakfast, and a jar of HM chutney each as a pressie!

Got home at 2pm after morning service, had yummy turkey dinner and bottle of fizz with housemate, the Lidl Christmas pud collapsed when I turned it out onto the plate :o but was yummy anyway.

I've spent the afternoon half watching the ballet on the telly (not quite sure why - I don't really like ballet!), half phoning my family. Now I wish I was up in Durham with my folks :( cos it sounds like a riot up there - my mum, sister (24) and brother (20) have been in a state of alcohol-induced silliness since about 11am and have been spending the afternoon unwrapping a series of completely daft presents from my dad. Apparently there are a few pressies still under the tree for me when I go up on Tuesday :j :j :j If it wasn't for my church I'd be up there now...

  • Merry Christmas everyone

Had a nice day, boys got far too many presents, and Nana came for the day and she had a great time. I managed to cook the turkey ok, no poorly tummys up to now anyway.

Looking forward to tomorrow, boys are going t their other parents and OH and I are gonna take loads of food to bed and watch movies all day!!

Must say, its seems like a lot of hard work, for 20 mins of joy, (on our faces while the kids opened their pressies!) Lots of chocs tho, so kinda makes up for it.

    xx

There was a designer tip for wrapping pressies which used newspaper and black satin ribbon - it looked great.
    Good luck with your mum.

    Hi again all!

Elona, you know, when I said that I should have done the packing in newspaper to my mum, she said that once she did just that but used a fancy red ribbon around the packets - she commented that you have to do ALL of the packing in newsprint, though, to make it look stylish, not just some.

In the end, it was a wrapping-tearing frenzy - life's too short etc., next year it will be stylish newspaper and ribbon wrapping!

Lillibet, Happy Christmas, and thanks a million for Spud's pic! Bring him over sometimes when you are around in London!

Dinner went well and I made the BEST Yorkshire Pudding south of Sheffield! (In fact I made a better one than the one that DH's aunt makes, and she is from Yorks. heheheehehhehhehhehhheeee). Everything else was also timed to the dot and perfect. Even my mother found nothing negative to say about anything and thoroughly enjoyed the lunchr.

Dinner: leftover stuffing, leftover salad from yesterday (was untouched today at Xmas lunch), cheese platter that I got from the organic delivery and is sitting on top of the washing machine needing to be eaten, fruit of all sorts, pandoro (which did not fit into our full tummies at lunch), torrone (ditto), fruit.

Loved the day, loved the prezzies, DH got me a fantastic pair of gold and ebony earrings, I am really touched as ages ago I had (innocently!) commented on how I cannot wear my silver earrings anymore as they give me irritation in the earlobes - and he remembered!

DS got me lovely socks in a variety of purple shades, my fav colour!

DD got me an angora jumper, so pretty I shall wear it for my New year party!

My mum got me oven glove, tea towels and two frying pans (all that I had asked in fact and they are great, too!).

Everybody else got just what they wanted and we are all happy and thankful.

    Love and peace to everyone.

  • Evening!

Hope everyone has had a good day :p

Our day went OK and DD loved her pressies. Well, so did OH & I too. Dinner was great and havent even had pud yet as so stuffed.

Kind of hit the sales earlier. M&S was the worst, but did save £400+ and spent £199. This included 2 lamps Ive been after for a few months now but would never of paid the £99 price tag but today were reduced to £17. Bought tons of clothes for DD (jeans x 2, tops x 8, pj's x 2 both Narnia one she wnated, 21 pairs of knickers, 2 x lots of socks, denim skirt, jacket, OH got pj's, shoes, 2 lots of socks, pants, top, and I got a Per Una skirt and top ive been after for ages, 3 other tops, 6 picture frames (mainly pressies), 2 x super posh lamps :p , and 4 x room sprays. Think I did pretty well and put it on cashback CC which I will BT to 0% CC later this week ;) Bought an Xbox game for OH which he's been after which was mispriced at £7.99 inc delivery-normally £40 and 4 other Xbox games that had been reduced to 98p each for OH and pressies for next year. Not very oldstyle but shouldnt need anymore clothes for ages. Just John Lewis to do on the 27th, then that'll be me done :j Popped into Harrods sale and have seen a gorgeous dinner service reduced from £160 to £80 and is fine bone china with gold rim with big shabby chic flowers all over....but I resisted for the moment...LOL.

Anyway, im going to bed soon as Im so knackered and in alot of pain, think ive over done it but has been great!

((((((((((((((((((((((TM)))))))))))))))))))))))) Shall we come round and hubby bash him for you  just say the word..... ;)

    Love to all

    Best wishes to everyone:)
I am shattered having been woken by 4 yr old and 5 yr old at 5am, running up and down stairs shouting with happiness. Best received pressies were ds1's 'retro;' gameboy which was off ebay for £20 with game and carry case :) and ds2's darth tater which im gutted he wont let me play with much :(
Mum's here and for her i did a mixed bean crumble, and had a turkey and a duck, future in laws here too, so cooking all morning, clearing up most of the afternoon. Ds rode into several walls and trees on his new bike but he is so tired, as he should be! Happy with all my pressies and luckily mum liked the 'granny kit' which i made for her as shes had a hard time lately - relaxing stuff all put together to make her take a bit of time out for herself. Not as tipsy as i usually would be but theres some bubbly in the fridge, theres always tomorrow. The tesco value xmas pud was lovely. Havent had hm cake because i'm too full and the icing went haywire! Got frozen leftover spuds - mashed and roast in the freezer, plenty of turkey and the duck bones in the fridge.
One of the best things is not getting into debt at xmas, but enjoying eveything because it's all properly paid for and nearly all old style! Have a good evening, off to watch dr. who.

PP, sorry to sound thick, but what do you mean 'hit the sales' were shops open today? *puzzled*
