  • Good morning and a very Happy (belated) Christmas to everyone :xmassmile

I have my extended family coming here today so I'm doing the turkey thing today. I've prepared just about everything and the turkey is sizzling in the oven, stuffed and yummy, and the pud is bubbling gently in the slow cooker. Having to do two days of special cooking is exhausting! I was so looking forward to a rest tomorrow but now OH has suggested we drive 100 miles north to see his mother  Not that I mind seeing his family but I could really do with a day off ! Ah well, Christmas is for families I suppose.

Hope everyone has a peaceful day.

    hi y'all
got up so late i still have wet hair from having a shower. Kids slept well and now watching wallace and gromit with nanna. Wil let them loose on the biccies and chocs later, mind you they are so used to my os ways now ds2 ASKED me if he could eat a second chocolate yesterday AAAH!:) bless him;)we have a cheese selection and cold meat and pickles, hm cranberry sauce for lunch, and i fancy having some singapore noodles later using up the duck and a bit more of the turkey!
Ds1 wants to stay in all day - he never has done but maybe its some inherited knowledge of Boxing day - telly and veging out. Can't wait to go to the gym tomorrow - dont think ive put much weight on more bloating from eating so many sprouts...
I got the river cottage recipe book AND the meat book so i hope to be able to sit and read those later - theres even a pic of a pig's head in there...

This year was the first year i havent been at my mams for christmas lunch to its been all new and excitiing.Off to my mams for a boxing day buffet at about 2 today so thats more free food for us :D

We havent eaten anything other than choccies at our house since the 23rd. hee hee.
  • Morning everyone :hello:

I'm still in my PJ's with nobbut a cuppa tea inside me. However, the house smells of bacon, so may have a bacon sarnie later

Was up late last night - stripping the meat off the joints/bird so I could get it all in the fridge. Then I made stock which I shall freeze later because I have enough soup in the fridge for now. I thought if I didn't do it last night after everyone had gone to bed, it wouldn't get made.

Anyway, kids are still so excited about their pressies - neighbour bought DS1 a bingo game and they've been playing it all morning (helps with their maths too) DS2 won't take his leap-pad back pack off either :D I may even pour myself into my rather fetching padded cycling gear and take the new bike for a spin (top of the road and back will probably be enough :))

Mr TM got out of the right side of bed today and even made me a cuppa. I've decided to be really nice to him today so he can't moan about any 'nagging' (which he tells me I do  :D) - not 'that' nice, obviously :D:D

MIL has parked herself in my bedroom with my hairdryer so can't even get dressed yet. Maybe I'll have that bacon sarnie, go for a ride then jump in the shower later. S'pose I'd better run the hoover around the living room at some point today too. Off to mum's this afternoon and I'll be driving so a sober day.

Hope you all have a peaceful Boxing Day and I'll catch ya later

    TM
  • Got up and gave the kitchen and dining room a good scrub because they'd slid into squalor from all the cooking!

Then did a final pick over the turkey carcass (6kg for two people is quite a lot but it was the same price as a 4kg one!) and got enough to sling in my brand new slow cooker with some stock and the last two leeks, so fake !!!!-a-leekie later (turk-a-leekie?). Leftover sandwiches for lunch, so soup will be a nice change from all the stodge. I reckon we still have enough food for about a week in the fridge!

I did have Christmas pudding and cream for breakfast though!

  • Hi and Happy Christmas to all
Today is going to be my christmas, after getting a 24hr bug yesterday.
I was expecting yesterday to be great for Mum and Dad Sister and Brother in law and there 2 and my Brother all food prepaired xmas eve.
Then both me and other half met in the bathroom at 2am xmas morning and did not leave until the DD's got up at 5.30am! needless to say xmas was cancled.
DD's opened their stockings and then rang Mum in dread as she definatley did not want to do another Xmas dinner (that is what she said to me last year as I did dinner last year and she said she enjoyed the piece and quiet and not cooking!)
So kids were duly shiped to mum's alnong with all the food, and Hubby and I went back to bed.
Finaly felt better in the evening and went and got the kids, and 2 plated dinners for today for us, and a huge amount of leftover turkey!!
So HAPPY CHIRISTMAS DAY to all!

    Afternoon!

Im off out shortly, possibly for a nice country walk somewhere as I didnt get chance to go yesterday, it started to get dark after lunch and then I fell asleep on the sofa instead! Im getting cabin fever and need some fresh air, so im looking forward to it.

The turkey turned out excellent yesterday, and I had a very relaxing day in front of the TV, I havent sat and done nothing for ages! Intended to go to the next sale this morning too, but saw an ad on tv saying it doesnt start till the 27th so im glad I didnt go out for a wasted journey. As im waking up early at the moment, I may well go first thing tomorrow and grab a bargain or two, which I cant really afford but ill be frugal for the rest of the month.

This evening im going to sit down in front on MS money and do the 2006 budget planner and start looking for new jobs, for both me and the boyf. We need to get organised! Once its done its getting stuck to the fridge so I can guilt myself into sticking with it.

Anyhoo, need fresh air so im off out! Im hoping I can find my old army boots so i dont ruin any of my good shoes...

    Jo xx
