Turkey and rost potatoes are in oven - pigs in blankets, stuffing balls and parsnips are ready to go in oven soon and veg is also ready to put on the hob later.

Yorkie batter is in fridge and I am having a few minutes on here.

Aunty Margaret (margaret clare) has posted on another thread to wish people happy Christmas.

She is out of hospital and is recuperating on crutches.

There was a designer tip for wrapping pressies which used newspaper and black satin ribbon - it looked great.
    Good luck with your mum.

    Happy Christmas everyone

We have just finished our lunch, smoked salmon and rocket salad with parmesan, champagne for me and bucks fizz for OH thanks to a friend who gave us 2 bottles of very good chanpagne when we helped with her birthday party.........raspberry trife to follow.

Everything prepared for supper, roast loin of pork with apple and herb stuffing, apple sauce, roast spuds and parsnip, brussels and cauliflower with rich gravy.... followed by christmas pudding and brandy and butter sauce.... and rose d'anjou.......

We are having a quiet day on our own, as you know we had to cancel our trip to France as I was so ill earlier this month........ so its just us two, reading, watching TV and playing scrabble............just might go for a short walk in a little while to help the lunch go down before we tackle the supper..........

Pressies opened lots of loverly chocolate........ and various other bits and pieces, things we had dropped hints for have all arrived, so very nice..... thank you Santa.....

Hope everyone has a really lovely day..................

and heres to 2006!!!!!!!!!!!!! may it be a great year for us all........... especially those of us who are OS..............

I am all on my own here, as hubs is over with his dad who has been let out of hospital just for a few hours. His sister is there too, and I could have gone but decided to let him have a low key day in case he gets worn out.

I'm not complaining though - have had the radio on, and just changed over to the TV, done some washing  , made a huge pot of home made soup, some of which I enjoyed for lunch, and am cracking on with the wine box ;) .

We will be a bit more festive this evening, although as hubs is a veggie it won't be the full production. In fact I think it's going to be jacket spuds with a few extras.

If anyone wants any tips on how to have a really cheap Christmas next year, I'm thinking of offering Martin a chapter for his next book!

Have a great day everyone, and enjoy your families those who have them around.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

Hi all and Merry Christmas to you all.
We too are having a cheap but very tasty homemade Christmas Dinner,
Lasagne in the oven smelling gorgeous, salad on the table, garlic bread waiting to go in, and profiteroles for afters. Yum.

Not traditional I know, but last year was sooooooooo upsetting as MIL was here and criticised everthing, has terrible table manners, and then left as soon as she had eaten. Then I heard Bob geldof on radio talking about all our extravagances so decided as I was washing up last year that we were having Lasagne this year. And it's been great as we have really focused on making the kids happy today(DD3yo + DS6mths). We have played laughed etc etc instead of being stuck in the kitchen panicing. So pleased we have done this........its all about them after all.

Enjoy what remains of the day and I hope no-one's head is too sore tomorrow.
Trying to tidy and clean while the kids are still growing, is like trying to clear snow even though it's still snowing

    Me too!

I'm just having 5 mins on here before I try to have a nap. DS (18) went out at 6pm last night to visit his boss for "an hour" he finally rolled in at 1am drunk as a skunk and as he hadn't wrapped his sisters presents I had to do it. I finally finished putting pressies out at 2am and was just dragging myself to bed when DS started being sick so I was washing the carpet & bathroom till 2.30, I wouldn't care but he hasn't even got a hangover this morning!

Think I got to sleep about 3 and DD was up at 6.30 to open presents, so I'm absolutely knackered! Had a lovely dinner though and now I'm stuffed with chocs, so ready for a snooze.

    Merry Christmas everyone!

    Hiya everyone :hello:

The dinner went down a storm (slow cooking the turkey on GM1 overnight makes all the difference)

Had far too much sherry and wine for my liver's good (but don't care) kids have disappeared under a mountain of pressies (most bought on special offers throughout the year) and MIL is on MY SIDE :j :j :j (Me thinks she will be having serious words with her only son this week, she found me in tears, carving the turkey :( )

Anyway. !!!!!! of a husband notwithstanding, day has gone well and I'm off to refill my glass. You'll be pleased to know I'm now too drunk to ride my very expensive bike (and it's dark) soI'll put it in garage and finish the rose, shall I? :D

I hope everyone has had a good day and long may it continue.

    Luv
    TM :xmastree:

ps how do you do those accents over the 'e'. I'm not drinking a flower - but a rose-aaaay :)
  • :rudolf: Happy Christmas everyone,

glad everyone is enjoying the day,£ronnie, your lunch sounded wonderful what a lovely idea for a stress-free festive meal.Goodness your MIL sounds hard work.

We've had the traditional meal but all lovely, loads leftover of course, but that's the best thing about Christmas lunch,no more cooking for me for the next few days.

Three little thriftlings all having a good time, too many pressies, floor littered with paper, packaging and plastic rubbish.Dd age 5 woke up at 10 pm yesterday in floods of tears wailing that Father Christmas hadn't filled her sack, she thought it was morning, managed to pacify her with promises of F.C's visit later. She woke again at 5.30 much happier. We're all knackered though.

Dd has just informed me she doesn't really like the presents she got and she's bored, think I'll have another damson gin. :xmassmile
