Ive applied for loads of seasonal work for nearly all off the companies mentioned on this thread. Havent heard back from any. Makes me feel really crap, i've always worked in retail, im very friendly and helpful so why don't they want me or even say 'youve been unsuccessful'?
This weekend i'll be going into my local towns and actually going in and asking if they have any vacancies instead of hiding behind an online application. I bet half of the shops don't advertise, its just word of mouth.0 -
some times yes,but you just have to plod on,i am seeing a few more agencys this week. not building my hopes up ,but will give it a go,i was going to find out if anyone new of the HQ adresses of boots, debenhams,wh.smith etc. i may try & write to them.
My dad is an HGV driver and was made redundant after 25 years recently, he has an interview with Royal Mail on Monday so that might be worth a try? I saw the job advertised in the window of Manpower, but they might advertise jobs online too.
I know what everyone means about not being able to get a job. I graduated in July, I have office & retail experience, and have very good grades, but I can't find a permanent job. I'm working at Boots for 7 weeks but lordknows what I'm going to do after that, there's no way I can survive on a retail wage either with the amount of student debt I have. I feel like I'm unemployable.

Keep trying everyone. These places that don't even bother to let you know them outcome of an interview really make me sick.
As I said in a previous post I think a lot on the online applications go into cyberspace.
My son was advised by a store manager to go in with an eyecatching cv and a letter of application. Try to speak to someone in authority and don't just give your cv to a shop assistant. They often make up their mind about you when meeting you for the first time.0 -

To the people asking about 15yr olds working - I worked in Woolworths at 15 so they were definitely prepared to do the admin then (1997) to employ them so could be worth a go if there's one near you.0 -
