M&S have always taken on staff to cover December/January so expect this year will be no different.

You get to go to the food waste sales at the end of each day and unless it has changed from last year, you get a 20% discount card, I think upto the value of £100, not bad.

I applied for an Argos temp job and was invited to a "fun application process evening", I couldn't make it so went in to tell them and was given a short and rather uncomfortable interview on the spot - He took my photo too, I looked like a scared hamster!
But anyways, the job hours were only for the day and occasional evening, the lastest finish would be 7pm. But it is a mix of working on till and in the stockroom - I don't see the point of till training for a temp job, but that might just be me.
Oh, and also, they only pay monthly!!

I know it's probably very late in looking for a Christmas temp place but just thought I'd ask to be sure, are there any other places still recruiting? I'm doing my Msc atm so I'm only free on weekends and through the Xmas holidays. I've handed an application in at Monsoon and handed CV's out to other high street stores but have heard nothing back. Most places want staff that can work during the week.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you. Thanks to this thread, my husband and I handed in Argos application forms, despite our local Argos not advertising for Christmas staff either in the store or in the local paper.

My husband had an interview last Thursday and was given a job on the spot (weekend work, mainly).

I have my interview this Wednesday.

Even if I'm not lucky enough, my husband's job will help us so much with clearing our debt.

Only thing we're worried about is our health, as we both work full-time Monday to Friday already, but as it's only for a limited period of time I'm hopeful we'll be fine.

I was going to post a thread asking when companies normally start recruiting for christmas - but now I've read this thread I'm worried I've left it too late!!

Unfortunately I haven't a 'big' company' anywhere near me, as I live in a rural location, but I was going to contact a few local companies; garden centre, shopping village etc.

I'd better pull my socks up!

Hi all.

Just an addition to my last post on this thread (about hubby getting a weekend job at Argos thanks to the application form I printed from the link in this thread).

I just wanted to say that I went for my interview at Argos yesterday and was offered a job too! We both start on Saturday!

To be honest we're quite excited, as it's so different to what we're used to and it will be so good earning a little extra money.

We both work Monday to Friday full-time, so it's going to be tough but it's something that we both want to do. We'll be working alongside each other, which is cool.

Hubby has quite a bit of debt (about 15K) and we want to clear it before we start a family. We're not having trouble paying our creditors, but we are barely scraping by each month, so this extra money means we can pay off our debts quicker.
