We both work Monday to Friday full-time, so it's going to be tough but it's something that we both want to do. We'll be working alongside each other, which is cool.
Hi Silverbird,
A few years ago I worked 9-5 during the week and did Saturdays and Sundays at La Senza during the Christmas period. The way I coped was to make sure I got enough sleep (especially as the lurgies are going round at the moment - getting to the point of exhaustion is not going to help your immune system) and by focusing on the little joys in life like my favourite TV programme or a relax in the bathtub - I think I had one thing for every day of the week. The bonus is you never get that awful Sunday feeling of "Oh no, Monday tomorrow" either! Good luck!0 -
Londoners: Neals Yard by Borough Market was advertising that it needs weekend staff, and ad hoc staff through the week at its other locations http://www.nealsyarddairy.co.uk/:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Good luck to everyone looking for a Christmas job.
My 17 yesr old son has been lucky at last and now has a job in a fashion shop. He sent in loads of applications and went for 4 interviews. Not one of the places he has an interview for had the manners to let him know whether he had got the job or not. Toys R Us are the worst culprit as he phoned several times and each time got fobbed off. They put him through a maths and English test as well as having to demonstrate how to sell a product and did not have the decency to let him know the outcome. He is a bright boy with 10 GCSE's and was getting really downhearted so I am thrilled that he has found work at last. They are pleased with him and he is hoping it will lead to a permanent job.
So good luck all especially the youngsters. Don't be put off and keep trying.0 -
I had my first ever job interview, with HMV and because I have not worked in a record store before I got turned down; they knew that before interviewing me so why did they bother? Never mind my encyclopaedic knowledge of rock, pop and Indie music...*sigh* Waiting to hear from Boots, Debenhams, WH Smith and lots of bar companies I applied to online.0

Good luck Flickering Ember with your job search. My son applied online too for loads of jobs but many stores near us still have notices in the window to 'apply within'. It makes me wonder where all the online applications are going! It might be worth having a look in your local branches to see if they have ads in the window. Also do you know anyone working in any local shops who can put in a word for you? I think lots of people find work this way.0

Hi,
I'm thinking of applying to Argos for a temp christmas job. I work full-time, but I'm looking to work evenings, and weekends.
What are they like to work for, and what is the recruitment process like?
Thanks in advance!!

sounds like a great idea ,but i work in the transport trade & i don't think these companys offer jobs for 7.5ton drivers.anything in this field would be great
does anyone have the HQ adresses to the sites that were posted on here;they are WH.SMITHS,B.H.S, DEBENHAMS,& BOOTS i may try to aprouch them for driving work.0 -
Had my Boots interview, piece of cake, but no reply (was about 2 weeks ago and they said if I had it I'd be contacted the same week).
Argos don't want me either - I've applied everywhere. Is it just me, or does anyone else feel a bit blue when nobody wants to hire you?0 -

Same here!I left my CV at loads of places like Argos, PC World, Currys, etc. Had one interview at Mothercare and they rejected me! It makes me feel a bit of a loser to be honest.
I even registered with an agency - only to be told (after I'd trailed into town and sat the test etc) that they don't get many part-time jobs in!0 -
