Sausage meat and onion plait. Pastry as jay-jay described.

Mum make a sausage slice. Layer sausage meat in a tin cover with tinned tomatoes and then mash potato on top, grated cheese topping optional, and cook in the oven for about 30/40 minutes.

I like the sound of making sausage rolls, with different herbs/spices.

Would buying a packet of ready made puff pastry be fine for making sausage rolls?

    Yep,
You can also buy puff pastry mix in a packet you just add water to. I tend to use this as I find the frozen puff pastry too much to use in one go for me.

Sometimes I like to make spicy stew with tinned toms, beans, chilli, garlic and other veg and sausage meat.

Mix it with a similar amount of mince & some stuffing & a beaten egg, cook in a loaftin for about 50 mins. Makes a yummy meatloaf.

I made sausagemeat and lentil burgers last night. a third each of lentils, sausagemeat and fresh breadcrumbs mixed together with fresh sage and some cooked onion. Make into burgers, spray with oil and put under the grill.:)

I heard somewhere of using half sausagemeat and half mince for meatloaf (with breadcrumbs and stuff obviously) - and the sausagemeat makes it more moist.

Kezz, this is going to sound mad BUT.... :) do you cook the lentils first or just whack them in there?

I cooked the lentils for about 20 minutes first. I always let the lentils and onions cool first before adding to the sausage meat, unless Im cooking them straight away. Roll in egg and seasoned flour spray with oil and stick under the grill on a medium heat.:)
