So if our Sky sub is in my husband's name and we try this and it doesn't work and they do actually cancel it, I can sign up as a new customer even though we have the same name and address (ok not the same first name, that would be weird :rotfl: )?0

If the Sky sub was in your husband's name and is already cancelled, then yes you should be able to open a Sky account in your name as a new customer at the same address. You can't be lost if you don't know where you're going.0

You dont need to have already cancelled to start a new contract at the same address.0

No, you can't have anymore than one account at the same address. My husband works for Sky, therefore deals directly with Sky accounts.2017 - no clutter to be seen challenge: 72/2017

Im sorry but this inccorect, the reason i know is when i got my HD box we had 2 contracts on the go, i rang up in the morning and got a half price subs HD deal in my name and then in the evening my wife rang and cancelled her contract, so we had 2 running at the same time while the first one ran out, the overlap was around 2 weeks.
So you can tell your husband there is a floor in there system0 -

Yes but you do not have 2 permanent sky accounts at the same address, where do you get 14 days from? if you look at your t&c's it clearly states 30 days to cancel any account.
Have a look at the bottom of this link if you like as this also confirms that you can't have 2 active accounts at the same address or call sky and ask them again.:D

Yes i did have 2 sky accounts at the same time, i signed up for HD in my name with a new account before the old account was cancelled , then the wife cancelled the old account on the same day afterwards which was in here name and gave 30 days notice, the new system was installed 14 days later, so i was paying for 2 accounts for 14 days and both viewing cards were active as we used the old one upstairs before it got turned off.
An if we are trading links, this one shows that people do have 2 accounts at the same address
