Cheap Parcel Delivery Thread MK3

  • I send around 40 to 60 parcels per week via couriers and prefer to use DHL.
These are my findings based on my own experiences.

    parceltree
aka home textiles do not touch with the proverbial barge pole no matter how tempting their prices seem. Offer pre-paid bulk purchase deals but abysmal customer support and I have experienced an extremely high % of failed collections. Granted all parcels (excluding the ones that were only booked today) have EVENTUALLY been collected but in my opinion, do not use these unless you have very understanding and patient customers.

    Express Packages Deliveries
reliable but a tad more expensive than most and you need to print off labels. European prices are very competitive.

    Interparcel
Fairly reliable but prices are steep compared to others.

    UK Courier Express
Extremely reliable. A tad more expensive but offer pre-paid bulk purchase deals with excellent customer service.

    PPW
Tempting prices but abysmal customer support and it looks like they may have folded. Website has closed down at least twice this week alone. Extremely high failed collection rate this week leaving many users high and dry and out of pocket.

    Direct Parcel Delivery
Customer service ...least said soonest mended. Use at your peril. Change prices, couriers and website on a weekly basis. Also close down website for weeks at a time without prior notice.

    Parcel2Go
Reliable but you need to print off labels.
Prices dependant on cubic feet which can be misleading.
eg. Parcel weighing 31KG measuring 120x60x60cms UK mainland to UK Mainland = a whopping £95.17 *shocked* same weight and size offered for under a tenner by many other courier services

As with anything else, it pays to shop around

Please note that these are my recommendations based on my personal experiences. No doubt others will have experienced better or worse with all of the above.

  • I'll have a major update of the first page next week.
  • No its fine. I'm probably the most defensive untrusting person on this thread! So I can more than understand

Well slightly sad in a way; a company which had given us a lot of piece of mind, and one that I thought that would be a courier solution for the foreseeable future and one that I thought we had a good relationship with appears to have gone, £200 with it.

From this day I think the market will be much changed and my moves will be much different.

you are all being silly ppw has been the best by far for ages , one fu**up and now everyone turns on each other , ppw will be back and will iam sure they will still offer a great service...
  • ...conflicting reports everywhere! For someone who is meant to 'own' ppw I feel pathetically helpless.
  • Get rid of that matchsticks, that's absolute nonsense. We've used them for ages and they are great. Apart from anything their European rates are crucial to our business model.
  • Express Packages Deliveries

are conmen the same as parceltree..

    And you know that because?
Please do not make accusations without backing them up with at least an explanation.
I have used EPD and whilst I found their system a tad tedious, nothing suggested that they are conmen to me.

so why are you advertising companys on the first page of this thread that are well below parcelforces resellers rates,,, becouse you you dont care everyones knows that at any time all the parcels in express packages deliverys care can be kept by parcelforce but you let this carry on.....

I do not force anyone to use a reseller's service, it your own choice.

Parcelforce/Royal Mail contracts with Paypal/eBay are not likely to end overnight when companies such as DHL etc force resellers to increase their prices & become uncompetitive with other resellers & thus forcing them to sell their services at a lose to remain in business & then not to pay DHL etc the invoices that are due.

DHL are actively closing accounts that no longer meet their business stratergy requirements & may default on paying their invoices.

Most sensible post made all night.

We want cheap....we get cheap while we can.
Sometimes we lose out totally when a company throws the towel in.
Let's not forget that when the going was good we all took advantage of it.

I am so fed up of spending my PRECIOUS time looking for the cheapest couriers on a daily basis (and after all time = money) so from now on, I will be quoting a Maximum P&P price in my listings on ebay and stating that this may be subject to a rebate.

Getting mightily peed off with all of this now

  • I am very new compared to most of you but I have been doubting the validity of our preferences....for I tend to believe the successful rate of parcel collection solely(and randomly) depends on DHL's drivers and has very little to do with agencies as long as they forward your booking to DHL.
Do let me know if I am wrong.:A
