I did find one (which is the number to ring from abroad) but still reverts to the call centre.

If I were you I would ring the call centre, don't bother keying in your card details on the key pad - just hit zero until someone answers. Then immediately ask to be transferred to Nottingham head-office. Don't take no for an answer... (they tried to fob me off with the fax number again).

Once you're past the call centre things do get done; however they are inundated with these problems.

    I've just PMed you.

Wher is that woman from the BBC Radio Money programme when you need her ..she was on here in 2007 when there was the Abbey Renewal Debit Card fiasco ..I think her message is somewhere in that thread ..I posted the link earlier on.

It looks like debit cards are back on, as message has gone and online payment facility working :D
  • I made 7 (yes, SEVEN!) payments because of this capital one screw up, and it's caused of lot of hassle to say the least!

I was NOT prepared to post or fax my bank statement because of their mistake, and mainly because it's bl**dy private, and you don't know where it's going to end up...

Anyway, I rang the customer services no on the back of my card, and asked to speak to an ACCOUNTS MANAGER immediately - They put me straight through, and long story short.... They have arranged a FULL REFUND to my bank account of the seven payments via CHAPS TRANSFER at their expense (obviously!!) - She told me it would be in my account in 48hrs.

I was told to wait for the money to arrive, and then pay again over the phone, or whatever.

So my advice is to ring, and INSIST on speaking to an ACCOUNTS MANAGER IMMEDIATELY. You should get an instant result too..

    Good luck everyone..

I'm lucky they only took one payment of £200, although I tried twice on the website before thinking hmmmmm this isn't quite right. It still hasn't been credited to my account though, and I do think a one-off goodwill payment (just a tenner, or twenty quid) would be fair. I've had to fanny about finding and printing statements, ringing the bank, faxing stuff through, ringing Cap One..... it's taken a fair bit of my time to be fair, and it's THEIR mistake, not mine.

cap 1 come across as a "where the boss " type company so hope you,s get a fair bit of compo for all this.
if it were other way around our phones would be ringing with sarky/cheeky/snotty nosed employees on other
end shouting " you have not paid, do you realise you are late/ we don't like it when payments are late. blah-blah-blah. probably even bill you for the phone call then add interest on that then vat then double it and then...
round it all off lol to a nice figure in the regoin off 100 quid :D

    hey,

does anyone know if you can make payments online now without them taking multipal payments?

Due date is teh 15th and if its not sorted by monday I'll just pay it through my bank account online.
