I posted that message for those who want to pay their bill (by debit card) but cannot due to Capital One currently not accepting this. There is still a way of doing this online without logging into Capital One.

Clearly you shouldn't resend any more money.

    Sorry :o:o :o:o

well i think this is a real abomination!(hope thats spelt right!) i only paid twice and only 2 x£14.97, so i supose im lucky in that respect. but i wont be payin anymore and will be causing a right old stink if i get charged!!! i bet they will be overrun now with hundreds of peeps who have done the same. they should be returning payments and paying charges incurred by people for O/D fees ect if it has caused a prob with takin more than one payment, it is thier c**k up, not ours but that doesnt help the poor ppl who have paid large amounts.
isnt it amazing if we the customer make a single mistake they are on us like a fly round dung, yet when they do it they couldnt care less.

now im angry angry angry!!! not for me tiny amount i paid but for all you who have paid alot. hope it gets sorted asap

looks like we have an MSE vs CAP1 on our hands!!!! lol

I've now got a written response on my secure message centre saying it is passed to "the relevant department and they'll reply to you by letter within the next two weeks".

    Err great...

I think I'm going to have to go back to Halifax and get them to do something.. Its now a few pounds (coincidently) just above my new overdraft limit so I can only get a limited amount of cash out at the weekend - not only denying me access to my actual money (which was actually my salary which was just paid in).

Just to keep you all updated... as I know you're all interested...

Received a second reply on the secure message service (I sent this because of the extra two payments):
Thank you for letting us know that multi payments for £313.71 have been taken from your bank account in error but your online account shows that only one payment has been processed. I'm sorry for any inconvenience or confusion this might have caused you. So that we can investigate this, please send us a copy of your bank statement confirming the payment has been made to your Capital One account. Unfortunately, we can't accept mini statements. Please send this information to the following address. Capital One Customer Contact Response PO Box 5283 Nottingham NG2 3YJ Alternatively, you can also fax us your bank statement on 0115 843 3440.

They point about a mini-statement not being acceptable may cause a problem, I can only print off from my online current account screen. However I have crossed out any other transactions and any personal info (apart from my account number) as why should I give them this.

I am re-faxing the above number and so far it is constantly busy. Posting documents would take too long, as I want this resolved today!

This is all becoming like a repeat of the Abbey thread of 13-14 months ago about the replacement debit card fiasco and I see complaints to the FSA being made ..in fact regardless of the outcome I think complaints SHOULD be made as this !!!!-up is totally unacceptable .( As an aside my complaint to the FSA ,despite me agreeing terms with them about the compensation I should get, is still not totally resolved 14 months along the line...Abbey are dragging their heels paying me the extra £50 ) I'm relatively lucky as I only made one legit payment with two additional payments of £21.31 but what if I had decided to clear my C. O. account by paying over £400...that would been an extra £800 from my Abbey account ..

Thanks Molly... do you have a link to that thread?

I clear my balance in full every month, and these extra payments are in the thousands of pounds. It cleared out my salary which was just paid in, some savings I keep in there and went flying past my overdraft limit...

Halifax have very kindly increased my over draft limit temporarily.

Ok, just demanded to speak with someone in Nottingham (where they are based). The chap was very helpful and looked what extra charges were on my account. A CHAPs transfer has been actioned to send the money back to my account.

I have to apply to get charges back by writing to the executive office - which I will do once the cash is back in my account.

Apparently this has happened to a huge number of people.

P.s. the second fax number is permanently engaged - The fax had been going every minute all morning before I decided to ring again and demand to speak to someone in the UK.

I did find one (which is the number to ring from abroad) but still reverts to the call centre.

If I were you I would ring the call centre, don't bother keying in your card details on the key pad - just hit zero until someone answers. Then immediately ask to be transferred to Nottingham head-office. Don't take no for an answer... (they tried to fob me off with the fax number again).

Once you're past the call centre things do get done; however they are inundated with these problems.

    I've just PMed you.
