Got my capital 1 card despite poor credit history with £200 limit.

4 months later, limit rose to £500.

Been using the card regularly and paying it off in full each month to avoid interest for the past 13 months, i.e 17 months after opening account, and am still awaiting an increase!!
after reading the post throughout my thread it seems you have more chance of 4 numbers on the lottery than 2nd increase with cap one

    Haha glad I found this:

No raise at all after 12 months BUT they shot my interest up to 34.08%!?

I went through all my statements and not once have I missed a payment or been late, or over my limit although I only pay a little more than the minimum at the moment.

So after CP quoting that my limit would increase on my 4th statement as long as I kept to my side of the deal, so to speak, they did nothing but increase my interest.

I contacted them and they said they could do nothing about it despite CP deliberately misleading me. I wasn't too fussed about an increase but I did want the interest lowering a bit, after all as far as I'm concerned I've a good payment history with them. I was told my account would be reviewed but 'when they do it next'.

The whole idea of this card was to improve my credit status and payment history. But instead CP are screwing me with interest and have not adhered to their side of the bargain.

I called again the other day and was told they could do nothing.

So not sure whether to pursue a complaint or not and copy in the FSA Ombudsman?

    Cheers.

They are entitled to increase the interest rate on a variable agreement. So no good complaining to anybody.

  • Well my 4th statements due this friday 6th I started with a limit of £200 and pay it off in full days after receiving my statements, as I mentioned before I spend it every month in Louis Vuitton, here's the problem on my 3rd statement I went over the limit by £1.52 or something like that because of PPI that I didn't even know I had to pay for (I thought it was meant to be free with this card!!) they informed there was 2 types!!! very deceiving!

Now what??? does that mean they won't bother to increase my limit?
I don't mean to sound like a snob but i'm a VIP customer at Louis Vuitton, I live and breath LV its just my vice! I would like to use this card more in there but Jeeez its limits low, it doesn't buy much in there!
  • me and my partner got a cap1 card a month apart, both with £100 limit, i went over my limit by £1 and on my 4th statement i didnt get an increse but my partner did to £300, weve had them 8-9 months now and no more increses.

I received my capital one classic with £500 limit back in March 2008 and after 4 months increased to £1100. I only have one default (which was 5 years old)...
