This is how naughty BG are! To keep up with the cheapest BG Click product you should have already changed twice before this latest one. Of course, BG don't tell you, they just leave you on the uncompetitive 'old' Click tariff until you discover the new, cheaper one and specifically ring up and ask to go on it. Or don't as you never discover it. I wonder how many customers have been paying Click 1-4 for yonks and not realising they could have saved a shedload of money by switching to the latest Click product. Of course, if EVERYONE switched straight away to the new Click tariff as it arrives it would destroy BGs little USP (the one where they proudly say they have the cheapest dual fuel deal) because there would be nobody subsidising that tariff by remaining on the old expensive tariffs.
This is surely the sort of thing Martin should be shouting from the rooftops about, like he did with the fixed/capped deals. We should make it our mission to ensure that EVERY friend you know who is on Click 5 (or clicks 1-4) should be told to switch immediately to click 6 (I've started doing this already). I'm following the Jamie Oliver appraoch and telling them to also tell at least 2 friends!! It's a sort of referral marketing but the only reward is giving naughty old BG a massive headache. Bring it onCall me Carmine....

Make a copy of this email I put together and email it to everyone you know:-
IMPORTANT FOR BG CLICK ENERGY DUAL FUEL CUSTOMERS
British gas put up their energy prices on TUESDAY 30th SEPTEMBER 2008 by 51% for Gas and 40% for electric. They have set up a new product called CLICK ENERGY 6 which is 20-25% cheaper than the existing CLICK ENERGY 1 to 5 products.
Existing customers are NOT moved on to the new product and are NOT notified at all about the price rise. This is immoral so please pass this email on to everyone on your mailing list.
Go to the following web address to get moved on to the new CLICK ENERGY 6 plan:-
http://www.britishgas.co.uk/products-and-services/energy/dual/click-energy.html
Better still, leave BG altogether.
Thanks.0 -
Absolutely EXCELLENT, csiman! And tell the people you send the email to to send it to THEIR friends! But to !!!! a snook at this appalling company even more, consider doing as per this thread. This way you get £72 cashback AND you qualify for the OLD Click 5 rates (MUCH cheaper than Click 6!) for up to 2 months! Come on, people, go for it!

PS Why isn't Martin getting involved on this one?? (If he is and I've missed it, apologies!). This could start a chain reactionCall me Carmine....

The heading of my email (to about 50 people) was:-
BG ripping off loyal customers (again!). Please forward on to everyone in your address book
Hopefully this will be seen by as many people as possible.0 -

This is a great initiative, csiman, would be great if Martin included it in his next email.

I wouldnt mind so much but only switched last week to click energy 5 from Atlantic0 -
I am on BG Click 5 tariff which I signed up for online. In my area (MANWEB)the tariff is STILL cheaper than click 6
I phoned BG to ask them to confirm this and they agree that if I transferred to click 6 I would be paying 4p per kilowatt more than staying on the click 5 tariff0 -
what i don't get is why there are so many tarrifs out there anyway? surely each company should only have one paper tarriff and one online tarriff? and everybody should get charged the same regardless of where in the country you live?
I have just completed a switch to click 5, great, i knew i shouldn't have trusted british gas!!!0
