Have BG put up CLICK ENERGY 5 prices this week?

Options
I am just in the process of switching to BG on their dual fuel click energy 5 and received a letter with the prices on a couple of weeks ago. Just checked and the tier 2 GAS seems to have gone up by about 30% and the electric by 10%. I never got notified of this rise. Should I have done?

Letter on 12th September

Gas 5.968 tier 1 2.504 tier 2

Current price 6.807 tier 1 3.432 tier 2

Letter on 12th September

Electric 22.685 tier 1 7.431 tier 2

Current price 19.164 tier 1 8.783 tier 2

I believe they have put them up.

I have just logged on and for my area(Midlands) the prices are:

    Gas 6.806/3.485p Electricity 19.368/9.03

Thats about 39% for tier 2 gas!!!

As my gas prices are marginally different to the OP, I wonder if BG have started regional variations for gas as well as electricity.

My prices for electricity are 20.856 and 8.262.
This is southern region, NOT dual fuel and IGT which could all affect the price.
I don't think these prices have gone up. They are much cheaper for me.
I am aware they could go up, but I'm taking the risk and switching.
  • I have just been on BG site and seen the following:
    Click Energy 5 Gas
    Meter Type: Credit
    Payment Method: Monthly Direct Debit
    Tier 1 6.807p
    Tier 2 3.432p
    (inc.VAT)
    Click Energy 5 Electricity
Meter Type: Two Rate/Economy 7 Credit
    Payment Method: Monthly Direct Debit
    Night Rate 5.337p
    Tier 1 32.785p
    Tier 2 11.954p

I have just moved two properties to this tarrif! Not happy. The move has not completed yet so I will try to cancel.
  • (Yorkshire Region) 35% increase on Gas and (GET THIS!) 25% on leccy!!! (both Tier 2 prices). BGs strategy is 'get 'em in at pre-increase prices and the hit 'em BIG!). I requested a switch to SP at the weekend, I will now write to BG to request they charge me at the OLD rate until the switch goes through.

So from post 6 above it does appear that Gas is at slightly different prices.

    Mine is
    Meter Type: Credit

    Payment Method: Monthly Direct Debit

    Meter Type: Single Rate Credit

    Payment Method: Monthly Direct Debit
    Electricity

    Tier 1 Tier 2 19.368p
    per kWh
    9.030p
    per kWh

    Gas
    Tier 1 Tier 2 6.860p
    per kWh
    3.485p
    per kWh
    (inc.VAT)

Obviously not much difference between 3.485p and 3.432p and 6.860p and 6.807p but I wonder if other areas will be different.
  • This is all to do with the Govt making the utility companies offer a social tariff that is cheaper than ALL their tariffs (INCLUDING online). It's about time the Govt stepped in IMO. 25%+ increase on electricity charges in the Yorkshire Region. BG 'only' put up their standard elctricity by 9%! The current regulation of this industry is wholly toothless...

  • A tip: If you switch away from BG now, make sure you write to them and request to pay the OLD rates until the switch occurs. In effect, until they inform you personally of the increase, you haven't officially agreed to it.

Somebody got given the new gas prices(presumably by mistake) and posted them on this forum on 11th Sept.
    Click energy 5 - 6.581 followed by 3.295
So if these are accurate. even more evidence that there will be regional variations on gas prices

    EDIT.
These prices could be before VAT??? if so 6.91/3.46p
